Predict the semi-finalists of ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Australia
Pakistan
India
New Zealand/South Africa
Your list doesn't even make any sense.

India, Pakistan, NZ, Bangladesh are in one group. Only 2 can qualify so how is it possible to debate between NZ and SA when they aren't even in contention with one another?

Nz has a more balanced team then India atm who are riddled with bowling injuries and NZ literally smacked India in their own den.

Yes different formats but the mental pressure is going to be their irrespective of any format minus t20 cricket where it isn't applicable. India losing 3-0 at home followed by getting a reality check in BGT and going from a sure shot place in wtc vs aus or sa to being booted out altogether is next level pressure.

To top it off bumrah is put atleast till the semi's ans their other bowling resources look thin thanks to injuries. It won't be as easy as you think.

As for NZ vs Pak, NZ isn't feeding fakhar zaman sodhi this time around and they'll make sure to plan for him. To top it off this a fakhar who has been out of the team for a while and doesn't have much confidence due to a shadow ban. The only reason falhar is coming back is because their is no choice now, it's either him or Duckbullah.

The main issue for NZ will be Babar who despite lack of form loves NZ bowling and possibly saim if he's fit.

NZ isn't exactly a fodder team. The only freebie hou have is Bangladesh and even then it's unconfirmed due to the gand botch that Pakistan committed against them recently so even though it's odi, some mental pressure will be their.

India Australia South Africa New Zealand

India v Australia final

India to win in Dubai , making it as it was there home crowd sri:srini

Don't fancy India and Pakistan getting through together. And New Zealand may emerge as the greatest beneficiary

Yup. Only one of india / pakistan will go through along with NZ .

Whoever win the India - pakistan game have more chance
:kp

Gut feel is it will be a 1987 WC repeat with India, Pak, Eng and Aus getting into semis.

And both Eng- Aus will upset the favoured home sides and play a well contested final

Semi Finalists
India
Pakistan
Australia
England

Finalists :
India
England
Semi Finalists
India
Pakistan
Australia
England/South Africa

I think Saffers have a good team to challenge any other team but in subcontinent they might struggle.

But SA doens't have winning mentality in big games, Australia does .

South Africa may not make it to the semi-finals with long list of injuries to their A-Squad. I just hope they could enter the tournament with their first choice players

Yeah but it's pat Cummins, the guy who predicted his own wins in wtc and wc.

I think we can trust the prediction guru
Bro i want to ask you one thing how come england never do that well in world cups compare to australia both are pace heavy teams even in subcontinent australia fast bowlers gets the job done where england never seems to at level of australia any reason even average aus team looks to challenge asian teams in spinning conditions?

Aus plays spin better then eng, their not walking wickets vs spin lol

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say:

Pakistan
New Zealand
South Africa
Afghanistan
Considering the injury and retirement problems in Australia's team, I also started having doubts about their qualification for the semis.

Fun fact: Australia have not won a single match in the Champions Trophy since winning the tournament in 2009. That's two tournaments where they went winless.

Wait they didn't win anyway single game in 2013 and 2017?.how?

Shoaib Akhtar, during a media interaction in Dubai, was asked to name his final four teams for the ICC Champions Trophy 2024. He replied:

“I believe Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan will reach the semi-finals of the 2025 Champions Trophy.”

“If Afghanistan’s team demonstrates maturity and their batters show patience, they could deliver surprising results.”

While speaking to the media in Lahore, Hassan Ali predicted the semi-finalists for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025:

"India, New Zealand and Australia as semi-finalists alongside hosts and defending champions Pakistan."

“I believe this is the best squad for the Champions Trophy. We should support the players, and there should not be any ifs and buts.”

“The memories of the 2017 Champions Trophy are still fresh; it was a phenomenal achievement for all of us young players. We could never forget the winning moment.”

“It is a welcome development that the Champions Trophy is now being held in Pakistan.”

“It was essential for the young talent to have the event here. I hope the Pakistan team will do well in the Champions Trophy 2025.”

What kind of analyst he is when 3 teams are in one group.what kind of media journalists are there not to tell /question him 🤔

Australia have lost a lot of players to injuries. I think they are not favorites anymore.

I think South Africa and New Zealand have good chances. They have full teams and are in good form.

All the SENA countries, India, and Pakistan are now playing ODIs in the subcontinent. Afghanistan and Bangladesh could have played a few games between themselves or with teams like West Indies.

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed his semi-finalists for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025:

“If I had to pick four teams that will go in semi-finals, I would probably choose Pakistan, India, Australia, and Afghanistan, but I would not rule any team out,”

“It is a stacked field; every team can win it. I think Afghanistan has a strong team. Their spin options are so good, and you will need that to succeed in these conditions,”

“Playing at home and being the defending champions will surely add pressure; there will be high expectations, but the fans will get behind them,”

“In 2017, we played India in our first match and were soundly beaten by 124 runs. It was my first game as captain and we were poor in all areas. Afterwards, we had a great team meeting, and some of our senior guys – Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez – all said their piece. You need those types of characters around you,”

While talking in a podcast, former Australian skipper Michael Clarke:

"India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand—these are the teams I've got in my top four.”

“My fear with Pakistan is whether they can handle the pressure. This has always been a concern when playing against them. I've seen them have a better team on multiple occasions, but they have struggled under pressure. It will be interesting to see how they cope with expectations, especially while playing a major tournament at home.”

“The rivalry between Pakistan and India is unbelievable. If they face each other in the tournament, or even in the final, it would be massive. Pakistan has a balanced squad and playing in home conditions gives them a significant advantage. If they play their best cricket, they are good enough to win the tournament.”

“My fingers are crossed for Australia, so I’m going to say Australia will be one of the finalists. And I think they will face India in the final.”

“I think India is going to beat Australia in the final. I can’t believe that just came out of my mouth.”

If all teams play to their potential -

India
New Zealand
South Africa
England

But this is a short tournament where even one spell or one knock can pretty much put a team on the brink of elimination. So it's hard to be bang on.

This will be the final ranking of CT, at completion

India
New Zealand
Australia
England
South Africa
Pakistan
Afghanistan
Bangladesh

It comes down to how much your opposition sucks on a given day. Pakistan after initial stutter in 2017 ran into an ill disciplined Srilankan fielding unit got away. Then they ran into tournament favorites England on a sluggish pitch in the semi final. Then India massively underperformed in the final.

Only England and Bangladesh haven’t had a CT title yet . Can’t count Afghanistan since this is their first appearance

How can India Pakistan New Zealand all be in semis 🙄

I think they didn't check the group. They just went with 3 form teams. Australia with depleted resources will face difficulty. England is going through a crisis. But i still back them. SA hasn't played as a full strength unit since world cup. SO not sure how they will deliver.

Afghanistan is a very strong candidtate to through to semis this time other 3 could be NZ, India and England

Australia and South Africa turn their attention to ‘must win’ Champions Trophy contests

Following the pair's washout, pressure remains firmly on both sides to win their way into the Champions Trophy semi-finals stage.

It’s a washout that may prove to help neither Australia or South Africa. The side that won this contest was supposed to all-but book their spot in the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but with the match abandoned, there’s still plenty of work to be done.

South Africa remain ahead of the Aussies on net run rate, but will head into the final round of Group B showdowns expecting a win-and-in scenario. Both the Proteas and Australia would need to rely on other results, should they drop their respective next games.

Australia goes up against Afghanistan on Friday in Lahore, before South Africa does battle with England on Saturday.

The Aussies have recent white-ball history with Afghanistan, losing their crucial ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 clash and scraping by in dramatic circumstances back at the 50-over ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in 2023, where it took a Glenn Maxwell miracle to dig the Aussies out of a huge hole.

So if anyone knows what kind of threat Jonathan Trott’s side possesses, it’s Australia.

“Yeah (Afghanistan) are a dangerous side on their day, like every team in this tournament,” Aussie captain Steve Smith said after the washout.

“I think that's the beauty of this tournament, with the eight best teams coming up against it. Anyone can have a good day. So, we're going to have to be on next game.”

By the time South Africa clashes with England on Saturday, the equation will be clearer for both sides.

But Proteas captain Temba Bavuma will attempt to make sure his side isn’t getting distracted and caught up by scenarios.

“Obviously, we go into the game with winning (on our minds)" he told the media.

“But I think, again, that becomes another important game. England on paper is one of the stronger sides, so we know that as a group we'll have to play to our best.

“But we've got a couple of days now. Kind of put our feet up and then probably after tomorrow start preparing for that clash.”

Plenty will depend on the result of Wednesday’s clash involving England and Afghanistan, the two winless Group B teams. They will face off in Lahore.

I'm going with Pakistan, India, Australia, and England as the semi-finalists.

I have a feeling one of Australia or England will win it depending on which team has the momentum. India and Pakistan are going to stumble in the semis.

The standard of my cricketing knowledge on full display.

I want Ind to win against NZ and take on Aus in SF. And realistically Ind team should realize they should win the SF with Aus because Aus is missing their 3 best bowlers and a couple of ARs as well.

If we beat Australia in the SF, then the final is just a mere formality just like the 2011 world cup where beating Pakistan pretty much lifted of all the pressure on us.

My fear is KL Rahul getting into a situation where he has to bide the time. This guy being in the side is a massive minus point in a knockout game. This guy chokes even in IPL games.

I think this thread told us a lot about the cricketing IQ of Shahidi, Hasan Ali and Clarke.

Nah.. 64(105) is not gonna happen ever again. Saw a recent interview of him where he accepted that he played way too slowly on that day so self-realization is there which is a good sign.

Yes he may still get out for 7(11) or some low score but don't think he will bide time ever again. You saw even in the Bangladesh game, he played a a few rash aggresive shots to relieve the pressure when he realised he was buliding the dots again

Give this guy a medal. First one to correctly predict this :inti

To be fair, it was not even a tricky prediction lol.

Only delusional Pakistanis thought they would beat full strength NZ and any-strength India. England are woefully out of form and ideas...Afg , Ban just don't have it in them to win multiple 50 over games against superior opponents. Add it all altogether and it's pretty straightforward.

I expect South Africa or Australia to eliminate India in the semi-final.

India have declined despite recent wins. All of India's recent wins came against weakened teams (weaker England, depleted Pakistan, and minnow BD).

India's decline was evident during the BGT and home series against NZ (which they lost 0-3). :inti

Aren’t you mixing formats? Those were test matches

I think Afghanistan should have been in this group instead of India. They would have reached the semifinal along with New Zealand. The unlucky guys ended up in a tougher group. Also, the pitches were SA friendly. They probably would have had a tough game against Pakistan. But would have won. Also they would have got Bangaldesh's clock cleaned.

You ain't playing them in semi's. You'll lose to NZ and you will play SA.

Theirs no ifs and buts, I have already seen the future unfold. Bookmark this comment
