The title says it all. Have you ever made or seen a prediction here on PP which came true, perhaps to your own surprise?

It can be your own predictions or some other person's.

This Thread should be dedicated to Mamoon :)) - And to whichever bloke started the Chota Akmal comparisons thread !! :D

Do you remember saqs' legendary statements about steven smith?

No gem on PP comes close to that.

"And who taught him to bat? Chris Martin? Is he the Australian equivalent of ....wait, I'm struggling to think of another useless player of his calibre."

:)))

Back then people used to take Saqs seriously.....Then it all apparently came crashing down :)))

Back in 2010 Jussarived predicted Kohli will be India's captain by 2015/16. At that time Dhoni was at his near peak of captaincy and we had Sehwag, Gambhir, Raina etc. lined up.

Didn't Kohli win the 2008 U-19 WC for India. Given how there is a proper system in India for grooming Youngsters and phasing out seniors the latter conclusion wasn't really that difficult to arrive at to be honest.

Unmukt Chand was also a cap u19, so was Kaif etc ,the only other u19 player as big as Kohli was Yuvi.

Others: Rohit,Jadeja,Irfan,Dhawan

Not everyone is capable.

He also predicted Kohli to be a test class cricketer. At that time Raina and Yuvraj were struggling in tests despite good ODI shows and Rohit wasn't been given chances as well.

Major predicted that Misbah would be captain of ODI team in 2015 world cup

Mamoon predicted that Junaid would be a better bowler than Amir. LMAO

Majority of PP'ers predicted Azhar would be an atrocious captain.

It came true.

Back in 2008, somebody predicted the entry of Amir...I can't find it but it was the most astonishing prediction I have ever seen. The thread was bumped later on as well during Amirs Aus tour I believe.

It's important to explain how you feel. If you feel strongly about something, don't hesistate in putting your views across just because they might not prove to be true. I feel that too many posters sit on the fence and then swim with the tide.

This doesn't mean that you cannot change your opinion. Of course you can, so do I, but at any given moment, one should be clear with his/her thought-process.

Mamoon predicted that Junaid would be a better bowler than Amir. LMAO

No, what I said was that he looks as good as Amir, which was true in early 2013 but unfortunately, that Indian series proved to be a fluke. If you are gonna cite, do it properly.

However, we all remember what you said about Babar Azam.....

On a side note, here are some of my wrong, right and semi-right/wrong predictions so far in my illustrious PP career, apart from the one already misinterpreted above:

In 2013-14, when both Junaid and Shehzad were key players in all formats, I stated that within a couple of years, both will be fringe players, which proved to be true.

In 2014, there was a thread asking how many 5-fers Junaid will take in ODIs, and I said zero. Safe to say, it's true.

Also in 2014, when Junaid injured his knee and after knowing its severity, I predicted that he will miss the 2015 World Cup and he is not going to properly recover from this. Fairly true.

Controversially, I would say that I was right about Yasir failing overseas. He did well in 2 Tests in England, but the conditions suited him. He was poor otherwise and in Australia, he was a complete disaster.

Before every ICC tournament, I predict that Amla will fail and it always happens.

Although I don't think it can be classified as a prediction, I have been calling Ajmal a chucker since 2012.

I have also always maintained that Kohli will iron out his problems in Tests and prove to be an ATG in Tests as well, which will soon prove to be true. In fact, he has already ironed out his mistakes and will deliver in England in 2018.

I also predicted that we will lose all 5 Tests in Australia and New Zealand.

I also predicted that Younis will fail overseas before the tours in 2016-17. He played a couple of big knocks (including one dead rubber innings), but he failed in every innings barring 2-3, so I was right.

I also predicted that Islamabad will win PSL 1, although that was primarily because I was supporting them back then.

I also predicted a QF exit for Pakistan in the World Cup, which to be honest, was the easiest prediction to make.

Prior to the World Cup, I said that Malik will make a successful comeback to international cricket after the World Cup with Misbah, Younis and Afridi out of the way. However, I also thought he might return as captain.

Prior to the England series in 2015, I was amongst the early few posters who proposed the idea that Malik should be selected as an all-rounder for the Test series because Hafeez wasn't eligible to bowl. He scored a double-hundred and outperformed Zulfiqar with the ball.

Now to the wrong ones:

I thought England would beat us 3-0 or 4-0, but yes I didn't expect that we will get 2 flat tracks and Stokes will only play 1 Test, while Anderson will hurt his shoulder before the first match.

I thought we will succumb to our mental block against Australia who will end our streak in the UAE, but we smashed them to all corners.

I was hopeful that Azhar might deliver as an ODI captain, and I did think he will be given time till the CT. Perhaps, had Waqar remained coach, he wouldn't have been sacked (the resignation was just for the media).

I was wrong about Maqsood and Shafiq (ODIs), while it still might happen, I thought Amin had the ingredients to excel in international cricket if he can work on his confidence and temperament. Not hopeful now though.

Although more out of hope, I had this hunch that Pakistan might beat India in the 2015 World Cup, because it would have made a beautiful story. The streak ending where it started, i.e. Australia, India's celebrated legendary captain Dhoni, widely hailed as the best ever ODI captain, having to live with the burden of surrendering the streak. On the other hand, Misbah, the much maligned and criticized ODI captain, managing to pull off what no other Pakistani captain has been able to do so, but alas.

Now time for some big predictions for the future:

Yasir will decline from here on and will be out of the Test side in a couple of years, he has peaked already and will only go downhill from here. People will recall the Australian series as the start of his downfall, and he will become yet another 'what if' player in Pakistan cricket, which could have been much more than what he had become.

Amir will never be able to become a top Test bowler again, but he will remain decent in LOIs. His fans of course, will not stop making excuses.

Babar Azam will overtake Saeed Anwar in terms of ODI centuries, and he will captain Pakistan across all formats by 2020-2021.

Kohli will become the first Indian captain to lose to Pakistan in a World Cup. This one isn't out of hope like the previous one, but I have my objective reasons for it.

England will win either the CT this year or the World Cup in 2019.

Haris Sohail will make a comeback but he will not live up to the expectations, will be dropped around 2018-19 and will be in and out of the team.

Pakistan's next mainstay in the middle-order in Tests along with Babar, will be someone who is not very hyped at this moment and not particularly renowned. He is also not playing in the PSL.

International cricket will return to Pakistan by 2025. Sri Lanka will be the first team to do a full tour, banishing the memories of 2009. England will be the first non-Asian side to tour Pakistan for a full tour again.

The next bilateral series between Pakistan and India will be in Pakistan.

That's all for now....

A few accurate predictions that i've made -

1) Starc becoming a quality bowler(predicted it way back in 2012)
2) Pakistan getting knocked out at the QF stage of World Cup and India getting knocked out by Australia if we met.
3) Pakistan losing 3 zip in OZ :srini

Shockers

1) I predicted that Pakistan would get whitewashed in England. Lost a signature bet to Strike Rate :yk2
2) I thought SAF would get hammered in OZ and generally predicted the decline of SA cricket with the so called "transformation".

My predictions. Pakistan versus England, October 2015, 1st Test.

Pakistan were saved by bad light. See last quoted post below.
The unthinkable could still happen? Pakistan scoring 523 and losing?

The way England are playing, and the lack of bite in the Pakistan bowling attack, means England could be on par with Pakistan's score shortly after tea on day 4, and if they have wickets in hand, could go full blast, score 620+, and put Pakistan in mid-1st session on day 5, with Pakistan 90+ behind. A few quick wickets, along with the long Pakistan tail, and Pakistan being skittled out for 170 - 180 could mean England chasing around a 80 - 90 in the last 10 - 12 overs of the day to win. Perfectly doable.
Whatever the result this deserves potw. Respect for poster.

Cricketing calculation at its best. Just see him pointing out Pakistan getting 170 or 180 and runs required 90. It's a guess or some calculation I don't know.

.
approx 12 overs

Not bad if I say so myself.
Ejaz butt demands you to be hanged up side down until you dont tell us how you knew about it.

If you were a cricketer and tweeted this when you posted this then by now internet would have been burnt down by internet rioters.

Good predictions, we can be friends during WC
Shucks... they only managed 11 overs before bad light. My prediction was 12. I must do better next time.

Did anyone predict Trump victory or Brexit?

Yep. I was laughing at them because all the polls said Clinton would win easily. Turned out, they were right. I am sure people were right about Brexit too

I thought this is the thread about Predictions which actually came true and not the opposite :yk2

Anyway, in recent times I predicted Tyson Fury would defeat Wladmir Klitchko for the World Heavyweight Championship of the world when no one else would and Amjid Javed would make fun of me :(

Me and Anchorman also predicted that Holly Holms would defeat Ronda Rousey in addition to Mcgregor beating Aldo.

Oh and one of my favourites! I predicted that Lesnar would end Undertakers streak and won the Wrestlemania 30 Prediction contest on PP for that year

Here are some accurate ones that I have made:

1. After the debuts of Anwar Ali, Bhatti, and Cheema, I had correctly predicted that they were bits and pieces players and they would not last at the international level.

2. I had correctly predicted that Amir is not the same bowler and has lost his shine after the NZ test series. This has proven to be true.

3. After 'that' Wahab spell against Watson, I had said Wahab is an average bowler at best; he will bowl well in 2 out of 10 matches. I had said he is unreliable.

4. Regarding Shehzad, I had said he will not be able to improve his game and strike rate because he lacks the art of finding gaps and deft touches.

All the above proved to be true.

Now, one which I have got wrong till now (I still believe it is true and it will happen).

1. Hasan Ali is a mediocre bowler and he will soon be axed from the same. He is in the same league as Bhatti, Cheema and Anwar Ali.

Yes but no one could have guessed how good Kohli would become one day.

Many players start off well but gradually fade away. No guarantee Kohli would have become captain after Dhoni - esp back in 2010. I would think Raina had a chance in ODI's / T20's or Yuvraj.

Guys refer to this thread.

Lots of good predictions of which many came true

http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...ead&highlight=crystal+ball+predictions+thread

I have said it before and will say it again.

Shehzad will become one of our greatest opening batsman - they guy has potential.

Not interested in listening to the haters.

Btw forgot to mention. He said "test captain". :ik2

Predictions I got right:

1) Babar Azam is one of the best batsman we have and will have a great start to his career with good numbers

2) Misbah is overrated as a captain.

3) Waqar had burnt too many bridges to be successful in Pakistan cricket in the long run - too authoritarian and not good enough as a tactician

4) Umar Amin is rubbish

5) Sami Aslam is rubbish too

6) Shafiq is a good test batsman but very inconsistent

7) Sharjeel would not last long in international cricket ( I reasoned he was a hack but turned out other reasons ended his career earlier)

8) Rahat Ali is rubbish

9) Malik is one of our best LOI batsman but no ATG by any means

10) Hafeez is good in Asian conditions but poor otherwise - his time is running out.

11) Amir was not and still is not that good of a bowler

12) Sarfraz was never that good of a Test batsman as many PP'ers made him out to be in 2014 when he averaged 50+. I called it way back then and now the truth is for everyone to see.

Predictions I got wrong:

1) Maqsood will become one of our best ODI batsman

2) Junaid would become a top bowler (got a lifeline now but will always be injury prone and hence not fulfill his potential.

3) Butt will return as our premier ODI opener (looks unlikely now with recent events)

4) Yasir will become one of the best leg spinners for us Mamoon is right - he will decline now)

5) Pakistan would reach the SF of 2015 WC

6) Shafiq is a better Test batsman than Azhar.

Future Predictions: (some bold ones)

1) Shehzad will return in all 3 formats and establish himself as our of our best batsman and greatest openers

2) Sami Aslam will be discarded soon and Shan Masood will return - will not be a top player but his grit will enable him to play some memorable "back against the wall" type of innings.

3) Haris will return successfully and establish himself as one of our premier LOI batsman for several years to come.

4) Hafeez will be sacked again very soon.

5) Umar Akmal will soon fade away from the international scene whilst Rizwan will turn it around with his form and become a top player for us

6) Sarfraz's test form will wither away and will soon be dropped for Rizwan who will become our first choice Test keeper. However, Sarfraz will continue to be a top ODI batsman at no. 5/6 will play LOI for many years.

7) Shehzad will one day captain Pakistan in atleast one format.

8) Hassan Ali will become a top bowler.

9) As part of our search for a LOI fast bowling all-rounder Anwar Ali will soon return to our LOI side.

10) Malik's form will drop soon and he along with Hafeez will be sacked before 2017 CT

11) Despite poor recent results - Mickey will be persisted by the PCB as our head coach and he slowly turn around our team in all formats.

12) Imad Wasim will fail to justify his spot as a batsman due to his lack of hitting capabilities in the lower order and hence will be dropped. Nawaz will play as specialist LOI spinner in Asia.

13) Babar will be a more successful player in LOi than Tests and will average 50+ in LOi (our first player to do so)

14) Azhar will become a borderline ATG in Tests - like YK

15) Amir will become a capable batsman and will be used as an all-rounder in the no. 8 spot.

16) Fawad Alam, Umar Amin and Umar Akmal will never play another Test match again.
Mamoon Junaids Syed1 Slog MMHS Hawkeye

Shehzad would be rubbish.

Nawaz, Imad and Rizwan are average.

Umar Akmal is one of the few LOI bats who can properly play the modern game.

Sam Billings is an excellent bat and will do well for ISLU.

Amad Butt is average.

Junaid is a poor bowler.

Some things that will never change and I will call it out right now.

1. Umar Akmal Will always remain flop with his supporters always blaming some reason for his success.

2. If Sharjeel is found guilty he will be banned for minimum time with PCB helping him reintegrate.

3. We will have another fixer caught in next 05 years because we always help reintegrate.

4. Shahid Afridi despite his mediocrity will remain national icon.

5. Yousaf will be forgotten soon in Pakistan cricket annals.

6. Pakistan won't win the next 3 editions of World Cups.

7. Babar Azam will become an ATG of Pakistan surpassing Miandad.

8. Amir will never have a stellar test career.

Some future predictions I'll make

Mitch Marsh will come good as an international player.

West Indies will decline in LO but be a decent test team

Psl will match the ipl if it held in Pakistan

Sharjeel won't get a life ban and will be reintergrated like Amir was

If Faf is given the South African captaincy for a LO tournament SA won't choke, not saying they will win the tournament but if they lose it won't be due to choking.

Virat Kohli will have a golden summer in 2018 vs England.

England will reach either the 2017 champions trophy final or the world cup final in 2019

Babar Azam will serve plenty of humble pie and become a fine test player if he is preserved with

Joe Root will succeed as a captain

Mohammad Asif will never play for Pakistan again

Under Virat kohli, India won't lose a home test series

Tom Latham will develop into a fine test batsmen

Sarfraz will improve us in LO formats

Younis Khan will still be a Pakistan player in 2018

Alistair Cook will not break Sachin Tendulkars record of most test runs

Azhar Ali will finish his Pakistan career as one of our best test batsmen ever

Australia will beat England in the ashes later this year

Bangladesh will lose all 3 games in the icc champions trophy

South Africa will have a slight struggle when the current over 30 players retire

Kane Williamson will surpass Baz as a captain

David Warner will carry on failing away from Australia and South Africa in tests

Quinton De Kock will finish his career as an atg

James Anderson will retire after the ashes this year

English domestic cricket will eventually have a franchise t20 league

Okay who predicted that Australia will win the first test? Lol

I predicted a Trump Presidency way before he defeated all the GOP candidates. :smith

No one can even come closer to this one ahmedwaqas Madplayer

when JibranAnsari not predicted but expected Shoaib Malik to retire from tests and Malik, within an hour or two, in the middle of test bw PAK_ENG, announced his retirement

Do dreams count?

If so, then I had a dream about Amir returning and picking up 3 wkts.

He did indeed pick up 3 wkts on his ODI return and I posted about the dream, before it happened somewhere.

You know what else?

I had a dream about the PSL final and the foreign players were leaving after the game had finished, but there was a massive fire in the near distance (presumably an explosion).

Hopefully, it was just a dream this time.

Here's another one which will be coming true in a couple of days, Danny SWIFT Garcia is going to annihilate Keith Thurman

I dont remember who it was but someone here predicted Donald Trump would win the US elections before republican primaries even ended. They said something like no one even knows what Hilliary campaign slogan is and everyone knows Donald Trump wants to make America great again. Could not be even perceived at that time, but it became true. Still trying to figure out what Hilliary campagain slogan was...😂

Bump

Kuddos to Syed1 to have correctly predicted that hasan ali will be the best fast bowler in CT.

I wonder where he disappeared? I wonder why people suddenly stop posting in general?

Yes never makes sense how people just stop posting cold turkey

its understandable if your participation goes really low and then you become active at other times

Kudos to CricFan2012 for correctly predicting India-Pakistan Final :srini

Jadeja will run through South Africa to win India the 2015 home Test series

Everyone laughed

Yeah you just wonder if something serious might have happened offline in such situations.

Quite a few of us predicted a Trump victory last November.

Here are some accurate ones that I have made:

My wife has been correctly predicting all the major cricket matches so far.. She told me that Pakistan will win against England, and India will win against South Africa. Won all the bets so far.

I predicted way back in 2010 that the Lakers would beat the Celtics. Everybody and I mean everybody thought they would get destroyed because they had lost 4-2 in 2008. I also predicted earlier that season that the Yankees would win again and they did in 2009 beating the Pirates. I also predicted Hasan to be a very good LOI bowler and Pakistan to win against England.
The ones I got wrong were about were Pakistan winning all the way in 2015. I thought we were gonna pull of that Gabba chase as well. I thought Mukhtar Ahmed would be the next big thing in Pakistan Cricket. I also thought Lahore were going to win PSL this year.

Bhabi ji ko salaam aur lambi khush haal zindagi ki dua.

Btw i also predicted that it will be a straight forward win for Pak.

Thanks.. what is perplexing is that she doesnt predict like us normal people. What I do is a guess, but she is either not sure or very sure. Today her dad called her up asking who will win the match, because he wanted to bet. He was not sure with her answer, but she told her dad that 100% Pakistan will win. And he won a good amount today. I want to see her fail at her predictions now.

Kudos to Mamoon for predicting Pakistan will win the tournament and getting the 2009 vibe..

I predicted that Greece will win the 2004 euros and they did.
Also predicted Maria Sharapova's first wimbeldon win when she was 17.

Bump,

So which predictions came true in the later half of 2017?
