How much are top players making? How does that compare to CPL or BBL on earnings per match basis?

The salary cap for individual players is $1 million, right?

Platinum – ICON – $200,000
Platinum – Normal – $140,000
Diamond – $70,000
Gold – $50,0000
Silver – $25,000
Emerging Players – not fixed

This was first year. Not sure about this one.

So even the highest paid players might still earn less than a random catch in the stands (catch a crore) :asif

Without comparing it to other leagues, this is good money for a two-three weeks tournament.

Is there a prize money that is distributed among the players?

Catch a crore isn't ''catch one catch and you get a crore'', the one crore is divided amongst all the winners who took catches.

Also the above money is more then 2 crore PKR.

$1 million will be offered in prize money to PSL teams where winners will take home $600,000 followed by $200,000 for runners-up.

Do the owners pocket the whole sum or do the players get a cut as well?

It was raised by 10% or something from last year.

The host announced the earnings for Platinum and Diamond categories.

Platinum is $230k-$140k

Diamond is $85k-$75k

Don't know about Gold and Silver, but last year Silver was $25k and that was the lowest paying grade for foreigners.

This year Silver is probably around $28k.

That's a lot!

PSL vs BBL:

Prize money:
$600,000 vs $450,000

Salary cap:
$1.2 million vs $1.3 million

Top earners:

$230,000 vs $250,000

This is us playing none of our games at home so hopefully one day we can pay more.

Best is to boil it down to per match earnings. If you compare that to IPL or other leagues then PSL is quite competitive.

Yeah, it's not bad and a lot more than people think.

PSL does pay well.

If it moved to Pak permanently, then I'm guessing the pay would go up even further.

For sure, read my other post above. We are almost the same as BBL and that is with us playing no home games.

There has been 25-30 Pepsi Catch a crore.

100000/25

That's like 4000 US for each catcher.

It's a bit sad listening to the winners of catch a crore being interviewed because so many of them start talking about buying a house, land etc. I think some don't realise that the money is split with others.

In the last game the replay showed almost an avalanche of people towards a catch. These are poor people, depressing in a way.

Also CPL:

Salary cap is about $700,000. Highest earner earned around $183,000.

+1

Very sad and hopefully, it is raised to $200k or something for the upcoming years.

Even if it were 20 people, that is $10k each and if you convert the $$ to PKR, then they would get a very good deal and enough to change their lives.

Yeah, I remember Tanvir being picked up in the highest cat. last year.

Tbf, he does do very well in the CPL and was a huge success last time is well.

As this competition is so much shorter in length you have to take the money and multiply by 1.5 or 2x to be comparable based on time spent.
