PSL X (2025): Speed Watch

Let's not hype him to the moon needlessly just because he has bowled at 145 kph. He definitely has a good future if he stops over bowling slower ball. He can even lose pace due to this bad habit.

What special he has done for Pakistan Under 19 against top batting stars of future from India, South Africa, England, Australia or New Zealand ? And what special he has done in Pakistan domestic cricket like Wasim, Waqar, Imran, Shoaib, Zahid or Amir etc to be given the title of " great prospect " or defined as having " dominated FC "

Please educate me as it seems I missed some headlines pertaining to the young man

What hype? All I said he's a pretty good prospect, which is what he is. No one is saying this is going to be some sort of generational bowler.

He is 19 years old, can bowl 145+ and has 53 wickets in 11 FC matches already including an 8fer. Not sure what your expectations are but for an 19 year old fast bowler, that's pretty good. It doesn't mean he'll be a sure fire great international bowler but at this stage, he is a pretty great prospect and has the ingredients and tools to be a good bowler at the international level.

Him & Ali Rasa both look to be very exciting fast bowling prospects. Hope is they stay they healthy and come good at the international level in the future.

Nothing outlandish or rare in him having 53 wickets in 11 FC matches and having the capability of bowling 145+.

Ali Raza seems like a real pace prospect.
This is talent that needs to be taken apart and made sure he is looked well after.

Genuine pace.

Will most likely self destruct and become a T 20 crappy leagues mercenary I have zero hopes with PCB developing world class talents now

So apart from Ali Raza there is no other young pacer bowling with bite, Ubaid Shah too an extent also has some potential

Hunain Shah gets the crucial breakthrough for his side against Lahore Qalandars with 139 Kmph delivery

Ubaid Shah has been bowling brilliantly. He has good pace too.PZ have not given Ahsanullah any games yet.It will be interesting to see how he bowls after PCB messed him up when he got injured.

Impressive from.ubaid, ali and fawad... These guys are no 150+ bowlers but I think they can gain 3-4 kph with some fitness training.

Good to see all apart from
veteran Rauf are under the age of 24 so will still have the chance to get to 150K if they keep up the fitness and diet.

Good stuff from Fawad and he hasn’t played any domestic cricket and is only 20 years old, hopefully after couple of seasons he will be hitting 150k every now and then.

Fawad looks naturally quick. Doesnt even run in hard. Further reinforces the theory that the most naturally talented kids get into tape ball due to a lack of hardball culture.
In the long run i feel like Ali Raza will be the quickest and best out of the lot. Dude bowls 90 mph and looks like a malnourished teen.

How to ensure these kids don’t turn to crappy league mercenary and play actual red ball cricket to build stamina and skills that is our biggest challenge

It's quite hot at Multan, Lahore and Faisalabad atm I think which might be affecting their pace. Haris usually bowls a lot of 150kph

Fawad Ali Raza & even WasimJr. why dont PCB sends them to some Australian cricket performance center for 3 months as part of a development program

No one has touched 155-156 km/hr. Very dissapointing.

With pace, we need some brains as well.. People are still living in delusions of PACE IS PACE YAAWR.

Still for a pace history nation like Pakistan this is indeed a disappointing stuff , at least we should have 2 bowlers clocking 150k+ multiple times by now at this point in PSL X season.

ATM, many bowlers are clocking 145+, but yeah, none with 150+ bullets. I don't really care about pace. I want to see good line and length with 140+ pace instead of 150+ blind darters.

Agreed that seam movement coupled with good accuracy will give you lots of wicket on any surface and in any format but seeing a bowler clocking 150k+ multiple times in a same spell is just give you far more adrenaline rush and is super exciting to watch.

That's why I think Ubaid Shah will be mighty effective in couple of years provided he stays on the upward track in his development , He got M.Asif type seam delivery which cut backs in at 140k+ and such type of deliveries are literally unplayable even for the best batsmen in the world and he can swing the ball away as well in order to mix things up plus he is intelligent and uses his brain as well.

Definitely a mouth watering prospect

If not for this season , there will be a speed demon next season .

Pakistanis are blessed with West African athleticism and Italian aesthetics.

Natural fast bowlers.

Have not seem much pace today during Multan vs Karachi game... Ubaid is also operating around 130s.

yes he bowls the wobble seam which is a lethal bowl these days

Hasan Ali was pretty quick yesterday. Got up as high as 143kph. Seems to be in good rhythm.

Who are the 6 best local T20 bowlers from this PSL X , Genuine question.

Ali Raza
Hassan Ali
Ubaid Shah
Faheem Ashraf
????
?????

How many of them offer long term value??

Hasnain is in good rythm... bowling quick

In 2019 he was touching 148-150 km/hr. In 2021-2022 he touched 154-155 km/hr.

It is now 2025 and he has badly regressed. Also not talking about speed but his overall line, length, development as a bowler, the fact he has still not played any red ball cricket for Pakistan or domestic cricket.

It appears he has decided he is only meant for T-20 cricket and even there his performances are inconsistent, nothing to write home about.

Just couple of seasons ago we had plenty of high 140k bowlers like Rauf , Hasnain , Musa , Naseem etc now they all seems to have lose their pace by 5ks.

No. If you listen to post match commentary and analysis you will see that there is real emphasis on control and line and length. Many bowlers are learning to be composed and not just bowl as fast as possible. Certainly Ali Raza and Danyal can bowl in mid 140’s but generally hover around high 130’s. I think it depends on pitch and variations.

Line and length is BS in T20 cricket , you either need express pace or extravagant swing/seam/spin to succeed in this format.

Batters not going to respect if you bowl a perfect good length delivery just outside the off stump if there is no movement or pace.

You are saying two different things and this has been said a million times already. Wayward pace especially above 145kph will get dispatched to the boundary even quicker. Just look how Rauf, Hussain fare.

Controlled pace and tight lines is much more effective. Just look at how effective Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali have been. With relatively innocuous 135kph or even less.
You can’t have pace for pace sake in any cricket format. Many intelligent bowlers will have an effort ball that travels a little faster but generally keep their pace a little slower than 145kph just to maintain control. You see Ali Raza doing this more and more. Some of his balls are around 138kph (not slower balls).

It’s not about line and length. It’s also about mixing up pace (I don’t mean cutters)

Decades later we still get these “oh so enlightened” line and length merchants.

Keep your boring medium pacers - I’ll take pace any day of the week, so will most of the world.

Not decades later. This has always been the case.
