Is this correct? Do we take this at face value or is there more to the statistics...

Big fan of Immy... but this doesn't seem true :))

I am not too sure how a provincial government can reduce poverty in a province without federal government.

I think the figures were not produced by PTI or KPK government as somoene on twitter posted link to official Pakistan government website but i am still not sure how certain steps taken by provincial government can reduce poverty to such levels.

Investment due to improved law and order makes sense but still can't reduce poverty by 50%?

pti social media team is too strong

i am afraid the ground realities are different

well the source is in the graphic. Instead of making gossipy comments just go to the source and see for yourselves?

I have tried and was able to verify the claim:

lol, well I found the site and went through some of the reports. I'm not sure where they've got these stats from so some of you statisticians can help Im sure.

site is www.pbs.gov.pk

I cant find the numbers for 2015/2016..I think the PTI (who I support by the way) may be having a bit of political fun with these stats..

poverty.jpg

As i understand, population is divided in to 5 groups of 20% (1st group being the poorest) so percentage wise, its 20% for every province.

number in the table (page#34) tells "Consumption expenditure is used as a proxy to assess people’s welfare. ", so imo, lower number means less welfare for this group.

so situation deteriorated for KP and Baluchistan.

How can you have reduce poverty by 50% in just 2 years? Realistically, it takes much longer and I am going by numbers from many countries.

the table they've shown is one they have created themselves from the stats in the report imho. I couldnt find the exact table. Although looking at other reports on the website KP is the only province that has an upward trend in education, services, etc. Personally i would wait till 2018 to properly assess the KP govt. That way you have at least three years of stats..
