I would make SMQ the FM. He knows what its like, and he's articulate and photogenic, which helps since the FM is the face of the nation internationally.

Also it would irritate Hillary Clinton, which means Trump may end up taking a liking for him.

Malik Amin Aslam will have to wait until by election results in 2 months time.

I don't think PTI is going to give too many ministries to smaller parties. Imran already said he wants to keep the cabinet small previously.

Yup, but he can be environmental adviser until then I think.

I hope they don't give too many to smaller parties, but they may demand 1-2 ministries in return for joining PTIs government.

Imran starts preparations for formation of govt at Centre

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Friday started preparations for formation of his party’s government at the Centre after the PTI won a majority of seats in the National Assembly.

The PTI is also working to form its government in Punjab and for this purpose it has started contacting leaders of different parties and independent candidates.

PTI leader Jehangir Tarin made telephonic contacts with the head of a faction of Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

The MQM faction and the PPP did not participate in the Multi-Party Conference (MPC) convened by the Muttahidda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman in Islamabad on Friday.

When contacted, PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry claimed that PTI had clinched 137 seats of the National Assembly out of 270 and, therefore, it would easily form its government at the Centre.

He also claimed that the number of PTI’s successful candidates in Punjab was 130, while the number of PML-N seats according to unofficial results of the polls, is said to be 127.

“We will definitely form our government in Punjab as we are in contact with 21 independent candidates,” the PTI leader said

When asked who will be the next chief ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that the matter would be decided by PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Talking about provincial setup of Balochistan, he said that the PTI was in a position to form a coalition government in Balochistan as well.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan retired Vice Admiral Hasham Bin Siddique called on PTI chief Imran Khan at Mr Khan’s Banigala residence and congratulated him on behalf of the Saudi government for success in the general elections.

He is too powerful in KP. He is pretty much to this province what Shehbaz Sharif is to Punjab. He is the king.

Imran is aware of the fact that his performance as KP CM was not satisfactory, but he cannot afford to weaken the government by creating factions within the party at this point.

Giving ministries and important positions to his party members will be a massive challenge for Imran - people who have spent billions for his campaign are not “khudai khidmatgar” and they couldn’t care less about this whole Naya Pakistan business; they are businessmen who have made an investment and will expect to recover their investment.

The bigwigs will be eyeing the big positions, and choosing the right person for the right job without upsetting his members is a big challenge that he will have to overcome.

Those people are in trouble anyway as Imran has vowed to give a free hand to the NAB. He said it in his speech he is committed to that promise.

Guys like Aleem Khan will not survive. If these guys get declared na ehl then IK won't have enough people for all the posts as they forming the govt federal + Punjab.

Why do intelligent strong female personalities make Pakistani men go all insecure... case in point the poster who mentioned her as "disaster" waiting to happen.

When many PPers in this thread were probably in nappies, she was a columnist and head of a strategic think tank, the only one that was putting the Pakistani POV, so upset were the Americans that she would not budge from what she wrote that they got her removed from her position as a columnist and from the think tank... those were the days when Americans were busy buying up media, people and setting up its vast network.

Low and behold... within a short space of time, TTP took off and pakistan became a hub of suicide attacks.....

SMQ was busy brown nosing the Americans, with his son doing an internship in John Kerry's office whilst they were busy shafting Pakistan left right and centre. SMQ as foreign minister ... no thanks.

There is a reason why I say that Dr. Shireen Mazari has more balls than all of these men combined. She is often the person who drafts texts of foreign policy for Imran. Last thing we need is for her to be sidelined and replaced by low IQ men.

These two need to be kept away from the cabinet and they are both incompetent failures. Fawad has very little talent and I would be shocked if Imran brings Sheikh 'chaprasy' Rasheed into the mix of things. Surely we deserve better?

Great Cabinet, but although i like the idea of Doctor Yasmin as Punjab CM, its a vipers nest and she is too clean when the numbers are this tight, really we Need someone like Aleem Khan but his cases are on going and so he is a no no, which leaves SMQ.

It's too risky to have SMQ resign from the NA when numbers are this close. The only way is if we elect a dummy CM for now, and then resign SMQ later, and have him run for Punjab Assembly.

Honestly, I would give Dr Yasmin a chance. We need to set the right precedent, and I am sure she will have very capable people to advise and support her the whole time.

Are you sure? PTI might improve the economy and get rid of all debts, but unless the Punjabis do not see improved infrastructure there won't be any 'change' according to them.

Unless people there understand the situation better for the simple person that will remain the criteria. People in KPK understood this and were satisfied with health reforms + improvements in education system.

He has to keep people happy. Shaikh Rasheed has supported him since 2011. Unfortunately that's how it works. Shaikh Rasheed is also someone who takes on the noonies in the media for PTI.

CM punjab will be the most important post IMO, because for the next 5 years, every single day people of punjab will be comparing PTI to PMLNs performance and especially to Shabaz Sharif, no matter if Asad Umar turns around the economy, people of Punjab wont be happy if next CM does not do better than Shabaz Sharif and hes an icon and celebrity these days in Punjab. Unfortunatly i cant see anyone who IK can trust in this post from all his candidates, my advise for him will be to go with someone new, fresh and outside of PTI like KAMRAN LASHARI, who has a track record of getting things done, he changed ISL as CDA chairmen, made Lahore green as PHA chairman and done brilliantly to restore Wall City of Lahore as its DG.

Infact if IK is actually serious about changing Pakistan he should bring new faces in the cabinet, non political but experts in economy and business from all over the world.

remove PIA chairmen and bring an ex chairmen from Emirates, BA etc.
