Quetta blast near Bugti stadium; Will Javed Afridi, Omar Nadeem & Najam Sethi take responsibility?

As expected, a blast was going to happen. These people not only risked the lives of Pakistani cricketers, but also the PSL brand.

Javed Afridi did all he could to remove Rameez Raja as Rameez had said that having any match in Baluchistan and KPK was not possible due to the secruity risk.

Now we have a blast taking place, and it will impact the PSL surely.

Najem Sethi was a fool that played into the hands of these two dumb franchise owners.

This is what happens when every decision in the country has political reasons.

Shame on PDM, Shebaz Shareef who allowed this aswell. This country has become a joke literally. Bypassing every regulations just to make yourself look good for the cameras.

The game has restarted and its been deemed as crowd disturbance outside.

The govt is going to try everything to hide this news now. Thing is, there are broadcaster cameras in the stadium that can capture everything.

This govt got all the players from BPL to return back and risk their lives and the PSL brand for a dumb match. Also risked the lives of the people. Just for political reasons they have risked everything

Why do they want to organize matches in such hostile cities which could lead to an impression that overall Pakistan is unsafe for organizing matches and further lead to ban of even the safer venues ?

Any bad incident in the small venues could have a detrimental effect on hosting rights of safer venues.

politics.

Thing is, people like Javed Afridi and Nadeem omar dont see issues as they are not in the govt and have no clue of the national security that the govt knows.

Govts responsibility is that they say no to stupid request. But the issue that people like Najem Sethi and Shebaz Shareef are playing politics here, wanting to apeease businessman and hte local people that look we bought cricket for you here.

These blasts are regular in Pakistan. Foreigners need to accept it and also accept that the security provided by Pakistan will protect them

??? The lives of locals are at risk. My relatives and your relatives that live in this country can die.

Are they being protected?

Life goes on. Their security is on the govt of Pakistan and the Pakistani security forces.

so you are saying that pakistai govt should continue to have social events for the people while blasts take place?

Life doesnt go on, if you cant protect the people from stopping attacks you dont promote social events that could put people at risk.

Its the govts job to make sure people are not at risk..

And if the Pakistani govt wont care, other countries will. One of the reasons why NZ pulled out they said was that even if the tour continued, the peoples lives were at risk.

The exhibition match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators was stopped for some minutes on Sunday, due to disturbance by the crowd at Quetta’s Bugti Stadium.

According to reports, the crowd was waiting outside the stadium and were waiting for security clearance but 10 overs were held.

Some fans became angry and started pelting stones towards the ground, due to which the match was stopped.

The match resumed after some minutes after all the fans came in and started enjoying the play between world class cricketers.

Samaa

The Sethi regime has been nothing but disaster so far.

Say what you want about Ramiz's incompetence - he was one of the good guys and genuinely wanted what was best for the country.

You only have to see how Sethi re-took power to figure out he is not one of the good ones.

A very Savak post this is.

Always get a few idiots spoiling an occasion.

The world is full of them.

Apparently there was no blast. But some unrest among the fans.

A blast did take place in Quetta

But the match was not stopped due to that - players were taken into safety until things calmed down outside.

Not sure how many here watched games in the 70s at th NSK but teargassing, crowd trouble was a normal part of the game then.

Ramiz regime was incompetence personified. Sethi will show and prove how things are done.

Laughable.

Or they can choose to not go or strictly play in areas which are safe.

No, it's idiotic to try to bring PSL to these places. Keep it in Punjab and Karachi that rarely see terrorist attacks. They are risking way too much by trying to bring cricket to these places.

Don't understand the rationale behind trying to play cricket in area which has been labelled unsafe by Pakistanis...

Agreed. Like you said even most Pakistanis consider them unsafe. Technically you can make the presidential security argument, yadi yada but it's seriously not worth the risk. If an attack happens targeting cricket, even if it doesn't get close to the cricketers it can still have a seriously negative impact.

People need to grow up and in fact man up. People die in law and order incidents every where daily and Pakistan is no different. Life and Business has to go on and as long as foreigners get Presidential level security, they have nothing to worry about.

Let’s play cricket while bomb blasts are taking place outside the stadium! Don’t worry guys, we can helicopter you out if the gates are breached. Just concentrate on cricket, Pak Fauj will be there and life will go on [emoji23] what an odd way to look at things

Laughable. You do not go to a place intentionally when you know there is a high chance of law & order situation. Nothing to man up here. It is Pakistan who needs to be realistic and sensible here.

That's a stupid take.

Cricket should not be taken to Peshawar and Quetta until and unless TTP & BLA terrorists are defeated and expunged

Why would Najam Sethi take responsibility?
TTP/BLA will take the responsibility.

 you are digging yourself in a hole.

If you had a child living in Peshawar. A cricket match is scheduled to take place, and to scare the cricketers and get media attention the terrorist group would be planning to do a suicide attack. Your child is not planning to go to the match, he/she is just returning home from school, and GOD FORBID, a blast takes place.

The cricketers go unscratched, they get presidential security and get airlifted from the stadium.

What about your child? Was it worth it? Would you be using such logic than?

We locals dont get presidential security here, our lives are at risk when a cricket team enters the country. Yes the cricketers might get away without a scratch, but our lives will be wasted.

Easy for someone in Canada who doesn't have to face the ground reality of life in these parts of Pakistan, close to the Afghan border.

Strict security for PSL matches ordered

The Punjab Home Department has directed the police chiefs of Rawalpindi, Lahore and Multan divisions to ensure tier-wise deployment of security personnel along with a bomb disposal squad with the motorcades of cricket teams and foreign officials.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) eighth edition 2023 is scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Multan from February 13 to March 19. Local and foreign players and supporting staff of the participating teams will assemble in Multan on Wednesday.

The federal government has granted the status of state guests to all the participating teams and match officials and VIP status to all foreign dignitaries, commentators and production crew.

Since it will be a high-profile event with participation of international cricket players, match officials, foreign dignitaries, security consultants and broadcasters and media persons, the police have been directed to adopt all possible security measures.

The foreign guests, including players, will be provided top level security during their stay and movements between the airport, hotels and the stadium in coordination with intelligence agencies, army and Rangers.
