Quetta Gladiators 2017 Squad | Discussion Thread

Why would you play Hamza?

He doesn't have the pace to trouble any batsman in the T20 format.

Correct.

Not sure how Sub-Zero wants him that too in T20s. He needs a green top with still air, and a grays or dukes ball to cause any movement.

Another PP youngsta beauty hype.

Sometimes its more than just talent.
Its unbelievable how Quetta keeps on winning despite having a very mediocre team. Sarfraz Ahmed as captain will turn the tables for Pakistan cricket. I can assure you that.
A very nice and humble person who get well along with others and know how to get the best out of his players.. A tactical genius and the best captain in Pakistan. What he lacks in talent he overcomes with his sheer commitment , passion and grit.. A true team player.

Really excited to see Sarfi leading Pakistan team.

Not bad for "Accumulators and Friends XI" to be the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

Sad day for PP experts.

Credit must go to Sarfaraz for winning and winning effortlessly with this Squad

He's doing good, one of my favorite players. But playing Shafiq, Anwar etc internationally would never work.

I tell you what, if Sarfraz can extract this much performance out of this team - then I cannot wait until he has the whole talent pool of Pakistan at his disposal.

Man Sarfaraz has a touch of genius about him, he's not even a great tactician, but he has that midas touch in his decisions, they more often than not come good...

When they were playing Karachi Kings... Sanga and Azam were crusing along, Sarfaraz brought Mahmudullah, and that was a masterstroke to get rid of Sanga...

Then he choked Gayle and Babar, made Gayle stay on the crease for as long as possible didn't let him score runs... and he played into his trap... he was stuck in a warp because of the tight line and by the time he got out he had wasted too many deliveries... that was game set and match for Quetta right there..

But but but he only plays his friends and would soon induct Shafiq and Anwar Ali into the national side. :sree

I think we celebrated too early :))

Captains will make mistakes, key is for Sarfraz to learn from this. He needs to drop Anwar Ali and put personal sentiments aside.

One match doesn't change the fact he's still the best man to lead Quetta and Pakistan.

This was a very interesting chess game between an old battle hardened but declining Lion, and the new king of the jungle.. the new Lion had this swagger about him this confidence, he is majestic... there is alot to admire about him..

the older one is circumspect, his reflexes have given in, the defeats he has faced in recent years has made him more pessimistic, no longer the lion he used to be in his prime, he's silent and unsure of his abilities, he likes to go through the motions but he's sure he's on the losing side, yet he hangs out, his years of experience have taught him that, its more a run through the motions than anything else not out of any medals of bravery, because there are none for loser.. but as a soldier's soldier.. you live by the sword and you die by one..

The younger lion, is at the top of his game, he is ferocious, he is ruthless, he has his best years ahead of him, all the jungle wants this new lion to be their leader, to be their king.. there is an air arrogance about him, he knows he is the best.. as there should be when you are the one on the attack, when you make things happen..

He is the best, his record proves it, he has the look of a predator, he is attacking by nature but very shrewd as well, the sort of look that makes the old lion thinks his time is up..

However he underestimated that old lion, who's body is not the same, yet his mind still calculates and still works out an opening, a weakness, a time to attack... a time when the enemy is too busy admiring himself, he sees a weakness.. he attacks, and he takes the younger lion down

Again proving himself as the best, still the king at heart, yet not physically there, but still proving that he has what it takes... proving regardless of what year you are in... experience is everything

Can someone explain it to me how reputed finishers like perera and Mahmudullah didn't even get to bat in such a match? Is Anwar Ali really better than these 2 who are apparenty picked for their batting amidst foreign slot.

I am just curious to know what think tank was thinking

What about their foreign replacement???? Abdullah719 Saj MenInG

Mahmudullah and Parera both gone...

Hope they get Hammad Azam, either way i think Quetta may be gone now, they bowling is far to weak, and balance is off with Mahmudullah departure.

Scraping the barrel here but maybe Bilal Asif could get a replacement. He is a mad hack, but an okay bowler

amazing 2 in 2 finals
this time more credit this was weaker team than last year

Sethi and his big ego they think overseas player are going to risk their life just for a game of cricket and some extra dollars? What purpose it's going to serve even if the final goes smoothly? What are the chances of any team touring Pakistan this year or next year?

And Pakistani fans on social media please stop bashing these players for their decision because their life is more important than a game of cricket.

Even if Rilee Rossouw makes it, PSL will be successful because it will lead to more players coming next year.

He's also out

Nope. I think he'll come. He hasn't said he's not going and through is tweet that he made last night, you can make out that he's contemplating it because he said, "still not done yet". He's also going to be paid more and his way of making money are these twenty20 leagues so I think he'll come.

Well, he hasn't given his verdict so we can't be sure. I'm hoping he comes but he has every right to be influenced by his colleagues.

Wright, the England allrounder, tweeted: "It's with a heavy heart I will not be coming to Lahore. I have a young family and for me a game of cricket is just not worth the risk. I'm sorry as I know how much it means to you all and hopefully in the future the safety will not be in doubt to come play there." - See more at: http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...s-pull-out-of-PSL-final&p=9131358#post9131358

you have to respect that! Najam sethi is destroying the league by himself!

Left arm spinner brigade will get rolled over in the final. Anwar ali's pies getting smashed at gaddafi will be lovely to watch

QG batting strategy was spot on - they loaded their line-up with explosive batsmen up front & gave them maximum chance to win a match. Their late order is poor, which was evident in last match & in the 1 run loss as well. Unfortunately, without the foreign batsmen, don't see them competing with the possible other two.

It's not fair for QG to play at Lahore without their foreign stars. Other finalists will also miss their foreigners, but no other team is so much dependent on expats.

The first finalists of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Quetta Gladiators have reached Pakistan without their foreign players.

Gladiators’ skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed and head coach Moin Khan along with Asad Shafiq, Anwar Ali and Noor Wali landed in Karachi.

Whereas, opener Ahmed Shahzad, Saad Nasim, Zulfiqar Babar, Umar Amin and Mohammad Nawaz have landed in Lahore with their bowling coach Abdul Razzaq.

Their batting mentor, Sir Vivian Richards is also expected to visit Lahore during the final.

I want QG to win but it seems highly unlikely since Zalmi have their foreign players but QG don't.

Wish Zalmi going into the finals, it gives Quetta most of the list to pick and choose from!

Square Drive did you see Sammys interview after the match he didnt commit to coming to Pakistan he just said i have to speak to the boss.

Yeah saw that, was a bit surprised tbh.

I don't think Javed would make such a statement just like that, though, and I'm confident they'll all be travelling, especially since Cricinfo seems to suggest the same.

Square Drive i hope so if it was just hot air from Javed Afridi then i will be very disappointed.

I would hope Quetta go with these 4 players.

Dernbach who is handy bowler.
Ryan TenDoeschaete - can be explosive batsman
Craig Ervine
And Chigumbura because of the experience and he can also open the innings or Enamul Haque one of them 2.

With these 4 back ups Quetta can still have a decent side apart from a weakened one.

DUBAI: Quetta Gladiators have picked Bangladesh’s Anamul Haque along with South Africa’s Morne van Wyk and Richard Levi and Zimbabwe’s Sean Ervine and Graeme Cremer to take part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Lahore on Sunday.

The five replacements have been called in after Quetta’s foreign cricketers backed out from playing the final in Pakistan citing security concerns.

England trio Kevin Pietersen, Luke Wright and Tymal Mills as well as South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw opted out of the tournament after Gladiator’s one-run win against Peshawar Zalmi in the first play-off.

Following this, many had thought that Quetta skipper Sarfraz Ahmed would field an all-Pakistani side in the final at the Gaddafi Stadium against Zalmi, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) insisted otherwise.

On Friday, the PCB announced a list of foreign players who have decided to travel to Pakistan despite the prevailing security issues in the country.

The list included following players:

Bangladesh: Anamul Haque.

Zimbabwe: Elton Chigumbura, Graeme Cremer, Craig Ervine, Sean Ervine.

England: Peter David Tergo, Jade Dernbach, Ashar Zaidi, Josh Cobb, Azharullah.

West Indies: Rayad Emrit, Kesrick Williams, Krishmar Santokie.

Netherlands: Ryan ten Doeschate.

South Africa: Morne van Wyk , Richard Levi.

Meanwhile, Zalmi, who are the other finalists in the tournaments, have said that their existing foreign cricketers will travel to Lahore.

Chances are that the following players are going to play for Quetta on Sunday:-

Anamul Haque (Bangladesh)
Morne van Wyk and Richard Levi (South Africa)
Sean Ervine and Graeme Creamer (Zimbabwe)

Wow... Quetta again with their cunning selection, expecting a big upset on Sunday.

looks like no game for Umar Amin again...

Will open with levi and shezzie... Van wyk and Anamul Haque/Ervine will take the kp and rossoum spot..
