A dead rubber in an empty stadium. Probably the most inconsequential match in PSL history.

A half-century today would pretty much guarantee the purple cap for Babar.

is Quetta out of their freaking mind....

playing Naseem Shah in dead rubber and not giving any chance to Aarish Ali Khan....

if there ever was a case of parchi, this is it ... woaw ... next level of shamelessness

Azam Khan should be dropped for Aarish but hes son of Moin Khan

Amir, Shaheen and Naseem have been the best Pak bowlers with the new ball.

It was too full to pull. Misjudged the length and pace of Naseem

Such a stupid question from Bazid Khan with such a boring voice.

Dean Jones' involvement with KK has pretty much changed them from bottlers to a fairly good t20 side this year.

Good thing about this psl is there will potentially be new winner. With 3 new semi finalists.

Delport has been poor again today till now. He was supposed to be the aggressor with Babar anchoring the innings and he has scored 13 off 17.

That was what I was thinking not long ago there was no cricket in Pak with foreign players and now Pak is the only country where the foreigners are playing. Masha Allah.

The difference between an experience t20 league player like Ali Khan and a raw Hasnain, shows why we are perhaps being a bit harsh on young Hasnain. He has performed very well the last couple of PSLs now.

Extremely glad that a team coached by Moin Khan & Captained by Sarfraz is out of the tournament.

Karachi would be looking for couple of quick wickets here to stop flow of runs and exert some pressure

Waqas Maqsood seems to have lost a bit of weight from last year. Almost unrecognizable with the beard.

Difference between player in Pakistani setup and American. The former is miles ahead in cricket.

Not to mention, Hasnain has played ODIs, so his lines and lengths are better.

Khurram out to prove a point today. Quetta deserve to be where they are for Moin's nepotism and Sarfraz's spinelessness.

Sarfarz is another one who is past prime.

Sarfaraz , Umar Akmal , Shehzad , Malik , Hafeez should not be played any more

A very good signal to moin khan from Khurrum as to say mate I can bat as well. Khurrum looked good out there.

Quetta Gladiators v Karachi Kings | PSL - Match 29 | NSK | 15th March, 2020 | Match Thread

Genuinely annoyed that there was a lot of handshakes at presentation. Can somebody put a word into the ears of the PCB. Watson was looking ****** as well as he was forced to handshake.

Quetta Gladiators finished their HBL PSL 2020 campaign with a five-wicket win over Karachi Kings at the National Stadium on Sunday.

After their fourth win of the tournament, Gladiators, the defending champions, were tied with Peshawar Zalmi on nine points, but couldn’t secure a semi-final berth due to a low net run rate.

Shane Watson and Khurram Manzoor, who was playing his first HBL PSL 2020 match, scored half-centuries and added 118 runs for the second wicket as Gladiators chased down the 151-run target with 22 balls spare.

Watson scored 66 off 34 balls, in which he smashed seven fours and four sixes, while Khurram made a 40-ball 63, studded with nine fours and a six. For his match-winning knock, Watson was named man of the match.

The dismissal of Khurram in the 12th over by Waqas Maqsood, who had sent Ahmed Shehzad (zero) back in the hut on the second ball of the run chase, sparked a collapse as Gladiators slipped to 139 for five from 118 for one.

Pacer Arshad Iqbal (3.2-0-37-2) removed Watson and Ben Cutting on the first two balls of the 15th over.

But Azam Khan (12 not out) and Mohammad Nawaz (eight not out) held their nerves to take Gladiators over the line.

Earlier, Cameron Delport’s 44-ball 62, which included five fours and two sixes, helped Kings to 150 for five in 20 overs.

The left-handed batsman stitched a 73-run stand for the fourth wicket with Chadwick Walton (26 off 20).

Babar Azam was the other notable contributor with the bat for Kings as he scored 32 off 34 and put up partnerships worth 30 and 42 with Iftikhar Ahmed (21 off 17) and Delport after Shajeel Khan was bowled by Naseem Shah on the second ball of the match.

With the dismissal of Walton on the last ball of the penultimate over, Naseem finished with two wickets for just 17 runs in four over, while Sohail Khan, Fawad Ahmed and Mohammad Hasnain picked up a wicket each.

The two semi-finals will be played on Tuesday, 17 March, at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. In the first semi-final, which begins at 2pm, table-toppers Multan Sultans face Peshawar Zalmi, while arch-rivals Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars will lock horns at 7pm.

Scores in brief:

Karachi Kings 150-5, 20 overs (Cameron Delport 62, Babar Azam 32, Chadwick Walton 26, Iftikhar Ahmed 21; Naseem Shah 2-17)

Quetta Gladiators 154-5, 16.2 overs (Shane Watson 66, Khurram Manzoor 63; Waqas Maqsood 2-19, Arshad Iqbal 2-37)

Result Quetta Gladiators win by five wickets

Playing in UAE is one of the reasons why Pakistan cricket declined.Playing on slow pitches in empty stadiums is not how sports played.Cricket,Football,Rugby etc need big crowds to create an atmosphere for fans and players.I have PSL franchises look for local youngsters in the next edition. We need more young quality spinners and batsmen.Pakistan will become a competitive side now that our first class system has fewer teams.PCB coaches and scouts must make sure talented youngsters are selected on merit. In the past many mediocre players became favorites of some officials on the selection panel.
