Azhar Ali's modi opperandum, work ethic, humble and quiet nature reminds me a lot off Rahul Dravid. While i believe the later was perhaps more naturally gifted and had a wider range of shots, but Azhar Ali is not far behind.

Both these players were gentlemen on and off the field. Both had and have a very solid work ethic. Both had to work very hard to reinvent and establish themselves in ODI Cricket. Both these individuals have done everything the team has asked themselves to do.

While Azhar Ali might not have Dravid's achievements as off now, but he is getting there.

He has a double century in Australia, a century in England, A triple century in test cricket, he is only getting better and better with time and i can safely say he is our most reliable batsman in test cricket right now and is now going to be seen as the main guy in our test team for sure.

I believe Azhar Ali should look at Rahul Dravid's career and look to him as his idol.

Vast difference in terms of ability, but the similarities are there with regards to temperament and character

Are you kidding me?

That gif was my reaction when, during their purple patch, people said New Zealand were gonna become the greatest team
LMAO who said that? :)))

People said this might NZ's greatest ever team. So stop spreading nonsense no one ever said because you don't like reality hitting you in the face.

Comparing Azhar to Dravid is a joke, a real bad joke.

They're in two different leagues.

I never said azhar was on dravids level and neither has the OP if you bother to read what he wrote. He said that azhar has a similar batting style and should look to Dravid as his idol. Azhar might never become as great as Dravid but I grantee that by the time he ends his career, he will be close. Why GIF are you gonna dig out now to reply to this? Leave the GIFs to people who are actually good at using them instead of forcing them to look funny.

Getting there alright.... just needs to more than double his 100 count and almost triple the runs he has scored in his last 5-6 years of cricket.

Azhar is the best test opener in the world right now along with Warner. You are underrating him just because he may be a bit limited when it comes to shot making
He might be so, but he is most definitely not close to Dravid. The numbers back this up.. fair enough to suggest modelling your game on him, entirely another to say he's catching up when he's not even close.

Dravid has played nearly thrice as many games. Dravid is obviously better but azhar is one of the best test batsmen in the world right now

Don't take it to heart, I don't even consider Kane to be anywhere close to Dravid.

Dravid > Alastair Cook >Azhar..

This is how it goes. Dravid is two levels ahead of Azhar as a batsmen.

Azhar Vs Cook comparison should have been made. That would still be in Cook's favour slightly.

Azhar in a best case scenario will play 60-70 more Tests and that would still not be anywhere near enough to surpass Dravid.

His batting style may be similar but that's where the buck stops, Dravid was, is and will remain to be on a completely different stratosphere to Azhar.

Azhar's ODI stats is a 39.00 Avg @ 74.8 SR in this decade. Dravid who played ODI's from 1996-2008 had a 39 Avg @ 71.24 SR, with a high score of 153 .. !

Azhar isn't an ODI player despite a decent CT

There's a vast gap between Dravid and Azhar. Dravid was 58+ averaging batsman I think after his first 100 tests. An under 50 averaging Azhar is nowhere close to Dravid.

Azhar vs Cook is a valid comparison.

Out of all the batsmen that I have seen play - I would pick Dravid before anyone other batsman. I still remember him scoring 100s at will in the twilight of his career in England while the 'Shooper-star' batsmen crumbled around him at the slightest of movement.

The most technically correct batsmen I have ever seen

How is he getting there?

I feel after 70 tests if you average about 47 you can finish on 50

Look at younis in 2009 his average was 50 but he got it to 52.

I really love watching Azhar Bat no one can get him out,Champion Test match batsmen

I think Azhar has some way to go to get to the level of Rahul Dravid. But he should potentially remodel himself on him. His strike rate though in Test cricket has improved which is great to see

Azhar is becoming an elite player in his role but Dravid is a league above. Azhar can finish as a test match great .

Dravid possessed such aesthetics that he was far better to watch than Tendulkar, Laxman, Sehwag, and Ganguly combined. I'd say he was hands down the best 'driver' from the Indian batting lineup...His front foot lunge was the best I've seen. Players who play with such a big stride are always better to watch.

Azhar might be able to match dravid in tests by the time he retires., but is very very ungainly compared to Rahul

What's this obsession with comparing every random Pakistani cricketer with an India legend? Azhar Ali and Dravid -- really? Are they even on the same planet?

Azhar is a good batsman, but if anything this thread suggests to me that people don't realize how ridiculous Dravid was in tests. He is among the absolute best to have played test matches.

The guy had an amazing average, but more that, the consistency at no. 3 (especially away) and the value he added because of how he absorbed pressure even in the toughest of scenarios was phenomenal.

I have seen a lot of players since Rahul and if anyone comes close to his composure and class at test level, it is Kane Williamson. Azhar is Pakistan's best, quite clearly now, but pretty far off from Dravid tbh.
