Bro, what options did Misbah had at the time? Look at the context aswell.
Hafeez and Azhar were good options. Both did well in odi. Haefeez was a 5th bowling option that gave us an advantage in increasing runs and balls margin.
Umar Akmal sucked. Afridi was rightly dropped becuase Afridi was out of form.
Even without Misbah we lost to Zimbabwe in the world t20.
Misbah had no team, yet he manage to get us wins. Sarfraz got to captain Pakistan after PSL. After PSL took place, sarfraz got hassan ali, Shadab, Nawaz and many other players.
That's fair enough, good points made but I still somewhat disagree. Their were up and coming youngsters but misbah didn't choose them.
As I said misbah had one of the best game awareness of all time and he kept and kept going in for the kill and even squad rotated, his field placements selection was great as well.
But he was extremely nepotsitic. Sami aslam came for one game and he did way better then Ahmed shezad did who at the time was badly out of form and underperforming.
Sami after one game of 45 of 50 was then dropped, despite having superior to stats to even babar at the time. Yes sami later had bad performances and was rightfully dropped but it made zero sense to drop him at the time when he was given one game. Misbah in purpose dropped him.
Sohaib maqsood did extremely well at no 3, but misbah relegated him to no 6. Azhar Ali is a good player but he wasn't even in the team for God knows how long, he did against India in the 2012 series but he gets dropped for no reason and misbah wanted him dropped to play test but then wanted him as his Successor?
Umar akmal wasn't worse then shafiq, Ahmed, nasir jamshed. Umar begged in the top order no 3 for hears which was his og position he made 102 at. Umar even saved us from a humiliating afghan defeat showing full well he loves coming early and taking his time. Unar was medicore but why was asad ahead of him? That's entirely because of misbha.
Umar amin was also an exciting g prospect at one point but misbah relegated him to no 6.
Misbah wanted strikers at 6 and 7, and tuk tuk players at 1, 2,3,4 with 5 being his position, that's why we call misbah era the dark days. We had players, misbah just didn't want them. We wouldn't have a good team by any means, our team would still be medicore but we wouldn't be shoved to no 9.
As for hafeez, Hafeez was horrible at the opening position. He played extremely well early on scoring centuries but steyn quickly exposed hafeez. Hafeez had the Rahul problem of not being able to play swing.
When mickey Arthur started bringing hafeez down at no 4, then hafeez started actually doing much much better then when he was opening.
Hafeez is medicore but for an allrounder he's good. He's far far better then nawaz, Agha, shadab and faheem That's for sure.
