Fakhar: Denied Pakistan a good start almost every single time, an extremely limited player who has been found out.
Imam: Very disappointing performance by his standard, should have capitalized on the starts.
Babar: Most talented bat of this line up, great mental fortitude and peaked at the right time.
Hafiz: Perhaps the most fluent stroke maker in this line up but a mental midget even after decades of experience.
Malik: Should have retired before this world cup, lost his reflex, timing, hand-eye coordination everything, should not have been selected in the first place.
Haris: Second most talented bat after Babar with a genuine gift of timing, amazing player when on song. Should have played all the matches. 7/10
Imad: Hardworker and honest trier, much smarter and mentally stronger than what people think about him
Sarfarz: Poor capatain, extremely poor bat and an average keeper. Not someone that younger players could look up to for inspiration.
Hasan Ali: Has always been overrated, his purple patch his over and has been found out for good. Time for Shaheen totake over.
Amir: Great bowler when motivated, very hard to score against.
Shaheen: Most exciting talent in your line up, will achieve great feats if nurtured properly.
Shadab: Had an average wc but can improve has got age on his side.
Riaz: Bowled his heart out, picked crucial wks, bowled well at death.

Face saving tournament and was did well compared to what were their form before tournaments. I think if Pakistan cricket needs to move forward they need to get rid of the dead weight and start building for future. Good thing about Pakistan team is that they always have someone with immense potential.. currently they have 2 players with immense potential and Imam with good potential. So their core is strong.

Now depends if these guys continue working hard and take Pakistan to the top level or if they succumb to pressure and hardwork required for international game.

Malik, hafeez, Hasan, sarfaraz, fakhar need to go immediately after world cup. If not then things will continue to be the same way as they are now

Surprised anyone, Hafeez with just one half century from 8 innings , and that too while being in peak form as he has been in this tournament and not having to face any outstanding spell of pace bowling that I recall.

For all the hate for Imad and shadab, they proved they are important players for us.
They missed the Aus game and the windies game they didn't have to bowl.
In all the games bar India they bowled well. Yes even shadab who dismissed the big boys root Williamson ( and even de cock) which were game sealing dismissals of the top players.
Babar and Shaheen 9
Haris and amir 8
Imam no more than 6 even after today. He gave decent starts but didn't go on b4 today.
Fakhar 5
Imad 7
Shadab 5
Wahab 7
Nobody else warrants a rating

How has shadab proved he's an important player?
He's useless. Can't bat nor spin a ball for his life.

Pakistan's overall performance in World Cup 2019

And so ends the best stretch of successful wins in a World Cup game that I can remember from Pakistan. There's a reason, that this final game against Bangladesh, was the first time ever that Pakistan came up with the same eleven players four times in a row in a World Cup.

Overall too, this is one of the best performances by Pakistan in World Cup. It's not just about coming fifth, which'd be an overachievement on its own given where the team was, but the fact that we did enough to be in semi-finals nine out of ten times. We missed the semi-final only on NRR, beating both the team (Nzl) we were tied with in points and the team (Eng) that scraped through with one more point. That's when we didn't even get to play all nine games.

Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi shined at World Cup stage, and Haris Sohail showed his promise. Imam-ul-Haq continued to perform against the backdrop of nonsensical hatred coming from a section of Pakistan fans.

Most importantly, this performance and especially the way they finished the tournament, give Pakistan cricket fans the hope and confidence where they can look forward to the upcoming ODI cricket games. We had 60% win ratio in the tournament, and I think Pak can keep that or do better in the upcoming games, as they build around the young core which performed at a very high level.

Shadab gets hate because some people are jealous as he is showing good promise at young age; people using rubbish excuses like he takes selfies or is on social media wth. He has taken more wickets than some of more rated spinners and his economy and average is not too far either. All that despite being a youngster and not having much games before the world cup due to illness.

anybody who has haris sohail more than 3 out of 10 no idea what they are thinking

he looks like hes going to get out before 5 runs in every match.

he had scores of 1, 8, 6 and failed pretty much every time it mattered.

limited player with no shotmaking ability.

keep players like these and the future is bright ..... for the other team

Mohammad Amir 8/10 - started off well but then didn't finish strongly
Shaheen Shah 8.5/10- strong finish but was bad against Australia
Wahab Riaz 7/10 - justified his selection, can't lie I was extremely against him being picked but done quite well overall
Hasan Ali 2/10 - really don't know what happened to him, huge flop and him giving runs away for free really affected our NRR too. The only reason he gets a 2 is his batting, which is honestly turning out to be better than his bowling

Imad Wasim 7/10 - turned up in the last 2 matches, but was looking quite flat in the prior games
Shadab Khan 5/10 - not done much with the bat, bowling has been poor apart from the odd game.

Babar Azam 9/10 - been really consistent, and batting at a decent SR, his century vs NZ was class. Just a shame he has given his wicket away a couple of times, but a solid tournament
Fakhar Zaman 3/10 - been poor with the bat, a real shame
Imam-ul-Haq 6/10 - underachieved, gave away a solid start too much this tournament, done the hard bit in seeing off the new ball
Mohammad Hafeez 5/10 - was amazing against England but really poor other than that, gave his wicket away too much
Haris Sohail 7/10 - class knocks against SA and NZ, wish he played vs Aus, we most likely would have won
Shoaib Malik 0/10 - poor in the field, nothing with the bat, only good thing he done was the wicket of Stokes.
Asif Ali 0/10 - poor with the bat as well as the field. Sad about his daughter but if that's the case he shouldn't have been picked.

Sarfaraz Ahmed 5/10 - keeping was good overall, batting wasn't too bad but nothing special either, captaincy was quite poor. Huge blunder to field against India.

Fakhar Zaman - 5/10.

Really disappointing effort by Fakhar expected better from him.

Imam ul Haq - 7/10.

Performed better than what I expected.
However he should’ve lead us to victory against Australia.

Babar Azam - 9.5/10.

The brightest star in Pakistan’s camp.
He has announced himself at the biggest stage of the WC.

Haris Sohail - 8.5/10.

Haris played beautifully and one can only hope he will play like this in the future.

Mohammad Hafeez - 6/10.

Played a very good innings against England.
Chipped in with some 20’s and 30’s, it could’ve been a better tournament with the bat had he not gifted his wicket.

Shoaib Malik - 4/10.

Malik seems like he is finished with the bat. Still managed to get the wicket of Stokes and his bowling was quite economical.

Asif Ali - 3/10.

Got two opportunities and failed badly.
Looks like he is still not fine in his mind.

Sarfraz Ahmad - 6.5/10.

Decent captaincy, great wicketkeeping and okayish batting.
Should never have taken a single against Australia in the 46th over, exposing Shaheen Shah Afridi to Starc.

Imad Wasim - 8/10.

Bowled economically and batted beautifully with intent. He has definitely improved his power game.

Shadab Khan - 6.5/10.

Shadab bowled too inconsistent in my opinion. Got the big wickets though of the oppositions. His fielding was top notch as usual.

Mohammad Amir - 9/10.

Amir bowled some beautiful deliveries. Rewarded himself with a five-for against Australia. But ran out of steam in the last 2 matches. Still with 17 scalps he is Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker.

Shaheen Shah Afridi - 8.5/10.

Was out of form in the first couple of matches but came back with a bang. Gun bowler and one can only hope he will improve his bowling. Got 16 wickets to his name.

Wahab Riaz - 8.5/10.

A team man. I certainly did not expect from Wahab to do so well in this WC.
Got wickets when needed and delivered some great cameos with the bat.

Hasan Ali - 3/10.

The player which Pakistan missed the most in the middle overs. Looks totally out of form and the future doesn’t look promising for him.
Only positive of him were the sixes which he hit.

Mohammad Hasnain - did not play.

Players performance review WC 19 on a scale of 1-10

Babar Azam – 9

The only criticism I can give Babar Azam is that he should’ve converted some of his starts into bigger scores. Overall he had a great tournament and produced one of the best ODI knocks from Pakistan against NZ. After performing at the highest stage, he’s proven that Pakistan has finally found a superstar batsman.

Haris Sohail- 7.5

He proved that Pakistan made a mistake by dropping him after the match against West Indies. But he came back with a vengeance against South Africa and NZ. I would’ve liked to see him continue his good form against Afghanistan and Bangladesh. But nonetheless he proved his worth and Pakistan is likely to continue using his services in the future.

Imam ul- Haq – 6

If you took his average from the World Cup it wouldn’t look too bad. Unfortunately, he failed to make an impact when it mattered most. Aside from couple of decent starts, he kept reminding the world that Pakistan’s batting style remains stuck in the 90s with his limited stroke play and S/R of 75.
Fakhar Zaman- 3

One of the biggest disappointments for Pakistan in this World Cup! Many would’ve picked him to finish the tournament as one of the leading scorers from the Pakistani team. He simply failed! Not sure if it was the pressure of the big stage or his technique was exposed. Pakistan doesn’t have many back up openers waiting to take his place, so he is most likely to be persisted with in the future.

Shoaib Malik- 1

The stage was set for him to perform. One of the most experience players in the world after having played 287 ODIs! PCB tried to make him the captain for WC by allowing him to lead the team against Australia in the UAE. Unfortunately for him, he failed to motivate and Pakistan got swept 5-0. Shoaib Malik should be embarrassed and disappointed, rightfully so!

Shaheen Shah Afridi- 7.5

Shaheen would get a 9-9.5 if he didn’t fail so miserably in the earlier matches. But to come back the way he did has been nothing short of amazing. He gives Pakistan something to cheer for in the future as he’s only 19.

Hassan Ali- 0

How do you go from being the number one bowler in the World to flopping as bad as he did? He left Pakistan no choice but to drop him. Luckily for Pakistan he wasn’t missed due to Shaheen Afridi’s amazing comeback. However, he played a part in costing Pakistan a spot in the top 4 due to his terrible performances in the earlier matches. He will be back as he’s young and fans tend to forgive and forget fast. But I hope he learns from this failure and spends more time in the nets than practicing his cringe celebration.

Mohammad Hafeez- 5

Hafeez should be the face of mediocracy. He does just enough to keep his place and that’s the way he’s played his whole career. When rest of the middle order batsman from the top teams are scoring at over 100 S/R, we have hafeez who needs 38 balls to get to 19 before getting out. On a positive note, we shouldn’t have to put up with him anymore as he’s set to finally retire.

Mohammad Amir – 7

Mohammad Amir exceeded expectations in general. He was dropped and then brought back after the backing of powerful media figures and former captains. I believe he’s regained his rhythm and confidence and did just enough to justify his selection.

Shadab Khan- 4

I’m trying to recall any memorable performances from him and I cannot. Aside from one or two decent spells in this WC nothing else to rave about. A lot was expected from him but he failed to deliver. Didn’t look too fit and it was easy to see that he wasn’t focusing on his fitness before the WC. I think he lost his form after falling sick right before the WC and Pakistan included him in the squad based on his past performances not on his current form.

Wahab Riaz – 7.5

I think Wahab played with a lot of pressure but he like Amir did enough to justify his selection. Not sure if he is the future as he’s in his mid-30s. I think Pakistan has gotten the best out of him and it’s time to invest in younger players.

Sarfraz Ahmed- 5

Nothing special from Sarfraz in this WC. You can’t expect the Captain to lead from the front when he physically looks the least fit in the squad. Sarfraz is a decent wicketkeeper and a decent batsman, but nothing special. And that’s not good enough especially when you have a better wicketkeeper, a better batsman and a more athletic player in Mohammad Rizwaan waiting to be included in the team. I think the time has come for Sarfraz to retire from LOIs and let Rizwan take fill in the role.

These are the players who in my opinion cost us the world cup.

Fakhar - Tried hard and fielded well. But nowhere near good enough and he should be dropped. Shan deserves a good run given his domestic form, or we could try Sharjeel once he comes back. Door is still open to Fakhar in t20, but needs to hone his technique for anything longer.

Hafeez - A leopard doesn't change his spots. A mentally weak player who threw it away in crucial junctures and lived up to his sub par average. A few handy overs with the ball, but it doesn't make up for a very underwhelming performance. Got lucky to be reprieved against England.

Asif Ali - Cost Pakistan the WC semi final spot with his fielding efforts against Australia.

Shoaib Malik - His ego refused to let him retire which is bad enough, but he also used his connections to gain a spot in the final XI which kept Haris out of the side. Should be banished from anything to do with Pakistan cricket forever.

Hasan Ali - Thought he was a superstar in 2017. Youngsters should note that this is what happens when you get complacent.

How do you rate Pakistan’s performance at the 2019 World Cup?

Probably their second best performance across world cups post 2000. 2011 would be just slightly better imo as Pakistan lost to NZ and barely managed to win against Canada despite friendly conditions.

Missed semi-final by a small margin. They did pretty well considering their ranking.

Depends on expectations. I was expecting Pakistan to show up big in world cup and win it. But that was based on past performances of Pakistan team and their form in England in past. It wasn't for cricketing reasons I had such expectations, even so I was disappointed they couldn't reach semis.

But if you think about it from cricketing reasons they came with a 10+ match losing streak so was a pretty good performance and kudos to the team. If they had picked their best 11 from start would have been even better.

They played slightly above their ranking, so a successful world cup for them.

Ranked 6th, came 5th.

I was expecting them to win this world cup or at least make it to the finals so a little disappointing on that note. However as a whole the performance wasn't bad considering that out of a 15 man squad, we had 2 dinosaurs who can barely hold a bat anymore (Shoaib and Hafeez) and that we benched 2 good players for much of the tournament.

Mixed. Definately punched above our weight, it's hard to swallow the knock out given the team won its last 4 games and looked very confident. However Australia just has our number and I suspect they may have stopped us in the semis

8 out of 10 for me.
Leading up to the WC, we had lost 10+ matches in a row. Then in a warm up we lost to Afghanistan. Finally when the tournament started, we got humiliated by the WI.
At that stage, a team could have packed it in, but they fought hard to stay alive, and honestly 3 out of the 4 teams above them are much stronger than us on paper (Eng-Ind-Aus), so great stuff.

The one big negative, which has been a negative forever. They never think at all a bit ahead. Even the game Ind lost to Eng, one of their coaches mentioned NRR and Ind was almost guaranteed a semi-final spot by then. Even NZ when they had basically lost to Eng, just tried to bat a bit longer to help their NRR - they had no plans to try to win once KW was out essentially. Pak should have realized NRR could factor in, but not even once until the end did their players or management realize, "oh this game is lost, but lets make it closer - bat longer - bowl more defensive here".

Also, Afridiiiiiiiiiiii - what a comeback for him after an iffy start, looks like a gem for a long time.

6 or 7/10 only because Im feeling generous.
Surprisingly a lot of positives came out of this worldcup despite not making the semis.
Babar stepping up and playing those high pressure games
Afridi emerging as a consistent bowler.
Amir ending up as one of the leading wicket takers.
Imad Wasims batting.
The core is there, Just need to cut the loose ends and fill in the gaps and I expect Pakistan to be a top 4 team in the next 2 years

Definitely above expectations - clearly a step above where they had been in the past 2 years.

That being said, it still left a lot to be desired. We are still making the same mistakes, primarily team selection and fielding, that have been there for years and years.

To be a really good side, someone needs to have some guts and make bold moves.

Very good honestly. More disappointed in team management that they couldn't work out the best team, clearly Shaheen and Haris should have been picked from the start. Sometimes games like WI happen, it was a tough pitch after used to the flat pitches in that ODI series and Pak were bounced out.

We were very unlucky. New Zealand were lucky due to a washed up game with India which they would likely lost, and Pakistan rained off with Sri Lanka. They needed both of these things to happen, if just one of them, Pakistan would have been in the semis instead of them probably.

The ODI team's definitely improving in quality in recent years, you can just see from the stats. For some reason it's not converting into wins in the bi-laterals, but I think that will happen soon.

Imad wasim single handedly won us our last two games or we wouldn’t be anywhere near the top 5- 9/10 for him

Everyone else gets a 5/6- as it’s a team game and we didn’t got through as a team

Imam 8/10
Fakhar 5/10
Babar 9/10
Hafeez 6/10
Haris 9/10
Sarfraz 5/10
Imad 8/10
Wahab 8/10
Shadab 5/10
Amir 8/10
Shaheen 9/10

Shoaib Malik 4/10
Hasan 3/10
Asif - Didn't play enough games
Hasnain - Didn't play enough games.

Haris, Babar, Imad, Shahin - 9/10

Amir, Imam - 7/10

Rest all - does it matter?
