Rawalakot Hawks defeat Muzaffarabad Tigers by 7 runs to win the inaugural edition of the KPL

Zeeshan Ashraf stars as Muzaffarabad Tigers outclass Kotli Lions in High-Scoring Competition

Zeeshan Ashraf scored the first century of KPL 2021 as left hander scored 107 off 62 balls

Muzaffarabad: Zeeshan Ashraf's heroic knock of 107 off 62 balls helped Muzaffarabad Tigers outclass Kotli Lions in a high-scoring competition in KPL 2021 on Tuesday. (10 August 2021)

Tigers chased Lions' 196 runs total in the 19th over at the loss of 5 wickets, thanks to a brilliant display of power-hitting from the left hand opener.

In game 08 of KPL 2021, Kotli Lions won the toss and elected to bat first on a batting-friendly wicket of Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium. Both openers helped Lions score 48 in the first 5 overs, thanks to a brilliant inning of 35 off 16 by Syed Abdullah. Mohammad Hafeez bowled Kamran Akmal for 23 while Ahsan Ali lost his wicket for 11 when Lions had reached 85 in 10 overs.

Asif Ali smashed the Tigers' bowlers for fun in the second half of the inning as brutal hitter sent the ball over the rop for 5 times, scoring 67 runs off 34 deliveries. Saif Badar and Khalid Usman scored unbeaten innings of 28* and 19* respectively, helping Lions post 195 in 20 overs. Sohail Tanvir, Arshad Iqbal, Usman Yousuf and Mohammad Hafeez got 1'1 wicket each.

195 was a tough ask for Tigers who had struggled to chase a total last night against Hawks but Zeeshan Ashraf had dangerous intentions as Tigers' opener won the game for his side single handedly. Taimur Sultan (4) lost his wicket early, Sohaib Maqsood failed to convert his 17 runs start into a bigger inning while skipper Mohammad Hafeez got run out without facing a delivery but Tigers still found themselves in no pressure as team crossed 100 runs mark in the 10th over of the inning, all due to one man; Zeeshan Ashraf.

He helped Tigers reach 150 in the 16th over while 17'15 and 19 runs innings of Sohail Akhtar, Anwar Ali and Mohammad Wasim Jr. helped Zeeshan get a victory for his side in the 2nd last over of the inning. Wicket-keeper batsman scored his first century in the tournament, hitting the ball for 18 fours and a maximum. Akif Javed of Kotli Lions got 2 scalps.

Muzaffarabad Tigers won the game against Kotli Lions by 5 wickets with 9 balls remaining while the same is the second victory of Tigers in the tournament as they have beaten Overseas Warriors as well in game 02 of KPL 2021. Placed at no.2 in the table, they have 4 points after having played 3 games in the tournament while Lions are still in search of a victory as team stands at no.5 with just one point.

Overseas Warriors get their first victory in KPL 2021

Haider Ali played match-winning inning of 91 runs while Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed's half-centuries went in vain as Warriors chased 187 runs target down.

Muzaffarabad: Overseas Warriors beat Bagh Stallions in a one sided but high-scoring competition where Haider Ali's 91 runs knock helped his side chase 187 in the last over at the loss of 5 wickets. It was the first win of Overseas Warriors in KPL 2021 where Imad Wasim's lead side still had to open their account in the tournament prior to this game on Tuesday. ( 10 August 2021)

Bagh Stallions won the toss and elected to bat first on a batting-friendly track of Muzaffarabad. Stallions' skipper Shan Masood played responsible inning of 73 runs off just 45 balls, hitting the white ball for 11 fours and a six. Zeeshan Malik (zero) failed, Rohail Nazir scored 20 while Asad Shafiq lost his wicket for 12 runs. Taking full advantage of Muzaffarabad's wicket, Iftikhar Ahmad hit 4 fours and 6 sixes in 28 balls, playing a fantastic knock of 54 runs to help his side score big. Although Aamir Yameen (3) and Umaid Asif (8*) could not score much in the death overs, Bagh Stallions still reached a respectable total of 186 in 20 overs.

Overseas Warriors had to win this all important contest by anyway to stay in the tournament and it looked as if Haider Ali fully understood the situation. Although Aamir Yamin got the first wicket early on in the powerplay, Nasir Nawaz and Haider Ali of Overseas Warriors punished Stallions' bowlers, dealing in boundaries. Nasir Nawaz scored 31 runs off 24 balls that included three fours. After Nasir Nawaz was run out, Aamir Yamin sent Azam Khan (9) to the pavilion while Imad Wasim (1) got run out, increasing the difficulties of his side. When Kamran Ghulam joined Haider Ali to chase opposition's total down, Stallions started losing the grip on the game. Haider Ali found his form back at the right time as he hit 91 runs off 57 balls, hitting seven fours and six sixes. Kamran Ghulam's brilliant batting form helped Warriors chase the required 15 runs in the last two over. On the second ball of the last over, he sent Umaid Asif's delivery for a maximum to give the Overseas Warriors a much needed victory in the all important contest by five wickets.

KPL TV coverage - too many ads

I hope you guys have been watching KPL on Geo.
But my! Are there are too many ads or what!
I think thereis more ad time than cricket. What a joke!
Come one TV people - wake up. We are human and the reason we watch is for cricket. We understand you need to make money from ads but there is a limit. If you push down ad after ad after ad down peoples' throats then perople will go away and cricket will lose.
Wake up and learn from foreign broadcasters.

Wake up and learn from foreign broadcasters.

You’d think with the strategic time outs that there would be a reduction of ads after each over, but it’s actually getting worse.

..and dont get me going on the awful picture quality.
There were times when authorities and companies just gave us something and said 'there is you go, thats your lot; like it or lump it'. The world has moved on and there are choices now.
If they want to make this league successful then they have to make it audience-friendly and make the cricket watchable.
Give us cricket to watch not hours of commercials. Yes I love that shampoo and the tea but there is only so much of it I can take!

Bagh Stallions won the toss and elected to bat first against a strong and consistently performing Rawalakot Hawks side. Team lost its top order batters early on while 4 of the top 6 players scored double digit runs but failed to play bigger innings.

Hawks kept Stallions under pressure as Bagh Stallions lost half of their batters by the 11th over, having scored just 58. Amir Yamin changed the whole shape and structure of the game as Stallions' allrounder scored 69 off 34, smashing the ball for 10 fours and 3 sixes.

In the remaining cast of Stallions batting line-up, Shan Masood scored most runs as skipper played an inning of 20 off 24. Zaman Khan and Asif Afridi got 3 and 2 scalps respectively.

Ahmad Shehzad and Bismillah Khan helped Hawks get off to a cracking start, scoring 56 in 5.2 before Ahmad Shehzad lost his wicket to Mohammad Ilyas.

Bismillah Khan also scored quick 33 while a 60 runs stand between Kashif Ali and Sahibzada Farhan helped Hawks reach 136, quite closer to the total as just couple of runs off Talat and Imran's bats proved enough to reach 157 in 18.2 overs at the loss of 5 wickets.

Kashif Ali scored a brilliant inning of 54 off 40 while Umaid Asif and Mohammad Ilyas got 2'2 wickets each.

Hawks have become the first side to reach the playoffs of the tournament.

The news on media regarding John Kent is unauthentic

Muzaffarabad: Baseless and unauthentic news is spreading on the media regarding the health of South African cricket commentator John Kent that he fell down and was taken to the hospital.

The reality is different from what the media is reporting. South Africa Commentator John Kent is safe and sound in Muzaffarabad but a technician of the broadcasting team of Kashmir Premier League 2021 was found ailing and has been taken to Civil Military Hospital Muzaffarabad where he is out of danger now.

Mirpur Royals beat Kotli Lions in the Super-over thriller

Ahsan Ali's 99 runs knock goes in vain as Kotli Lions are knocked out of the race of playoffs

Muzaffarabad: Mirpur Royals won the super over thriller against Kotli Lions to keep themselves in the race of the qualification for the playoffs while Ahsan Ali's 99 runs knock went in vain as Kotli Lions were knocked out of the tournament by the Royals on Wednesday. (11 August 2021) Lions had tied the game against Royals but failed to score big in the super-over, giving Malik an easy chance to keep his team in the hint of the qualification for the playoffs.

Kotli Lions won the toss and elected to bat first against Mirpur Royals in an important game where teams placed at the bottom of the table were going to face each other. Sharjeel Khan (12) lost his wicket early on but a 99 runs stand between Mukhtar Ahmad and Mohammad Akhlaq gave a fair chance to the next batters to play freely. Mukhtar Ahmad scored 61 off 38 while Akhlaq also played a 45 runs inning. Shoaib Malik contributed with his 28 off 19 but it was Khushdil Shah who had a different day as left hander played a fabulous knock of 41 off 13 in the death overs, helping Royals post 211 on the board. Mujtaba Ghayyas got 2 wickets for 23.

Kotli Lions got off to a positive start as team had reached 31 for none by the 3rd over but in-form Salman Irshad came up with two breakthroughs. Ahsan Ali and Hasan Raza produced a 56 runs partnership before Hasan Raza lost his wicket for 34 in the 9th over of the inning. Salman Irshad came back for another spell and dismissed dangerous Asif Ali for just 2 runs to make the chase difficult for Royals but Ahsan Ali was in the form of his life in the game as he kept on punishing every bowler, helping his side reach 150 in the 14th over. Ammad Butt brought Royals back in the game by dismissing both Saif Badar (22) and Khalid Usman (zero) in the 14th over. Ahsan Ali played a superb knock of 99 off 47, hitting 10 fours and 6 sixes. Shadab Majeed dismissed Ahsan in the 18th over but some contributions of the lower order batsmen helped Lions stay in the game. Ghayyas tried to take a run off the last ball when Lions needed just 1 on the last ball but he got run out to tie the game, bringing the game to the super-over.

Kotli Lions lost two wickets for just 2 in the super-over. In reply, Malik went for a four on the very first ball of the super-over.

Skipper of Kotli Lions, Kamran Akmal, got his form back in his last game of the tournament as with some help of Junaid Ali, wicket keeper batsman helped his side cross 100 runs mark in the 9th over of the inning, losing his wicket in the same over for 60 off 35 balls. Kamran's fellow opener, Junaid Ali, took just 28 balls to score 51 while coming back from a heroic knock of 99*, Ahsan Ali used his form to score 56* off 29, adding 6 fours and 3 sixes in his unbeaten inning. Asif Ali also contributed in this Lions' victory by scoring 34 off 23. Kotli Lions chased Warriors 212 runs target in the 19th over with 8 wickets in hand. Muzaffarabad Tigers qualify for the final of KPL 2021

In a nail-biting thriller, Muzaffarabad Tigers beat Rawalakot Hawks by 7 runs to claim a victory in the qualifier

Muzaffarabad: Muzaffarabad Tigers beat Rawalakot Hawks by 7 runs in a nail-biting thriller where both teams were fighting to book the first ticket for the final of KPL 2021. Rawalakot Hawks now will wait for another opportunity on 17th August where they will face the winners of the eliminator 1.

Shahid Afridi, skipper of Rawalakot Hawks, won the toss and asked his opposition's skipper to bat first on the Independence day of Pakistan, in a game that was a qualifier.

A run-out of Mohammad Hafeez 0(0) in the very first over of the inning was an early blow for the Tigers who saw Zeeshan Ashraf 5(4) also coming back towards the pavilion in the very next over. They lost Sohaib Maqsood as well in the 4th over for who threw his wicket away for 17 off 14, the team being 23/3 in 4 overs. Sohail Akhtar and Sohail Tanvir also disappointed Tigers' fans as team went into further trouble when they lost half of their side for just 51. Anwar Ali started punishing Hawks bowlers, produced 25 and 24 runs stands alongside Inzamam Ul Haq and Mohammad Wasim, Further accelerated after Wasim's dismissal when team was 100/7 in 15.4 overs before he lost his wicket on the third delivery of the 19th over, having scored 57 off 35 with 5 fours and 3 sixes. A 20* off 11 balls helped Tigers post 164 on the board in their 20 overs losing 8 wickets. Mohammad Imran and Danish Aziz got 2'2 scalps each.

When Hawks started their chase, Ahmed Shehzad's dismissal in the second over stopped the expected flow of runs and Bismillah Khan and Sahibzada Farhan also lost their wickets in quick succession during the powerplay. When Zeeshan Ashraf stumped Kashif Ali, Hawks were 49/4 with Shahid Afridi coming in at no.6 to rescue his side with some boundaries. A googly of Usama Mir forced him to leave the stage, having scored just 11 off 8 with two fours. After Afridi got out, Hussain Talat showed how skillful he is as the allrounder punished everyone and scored a brilliant 52 off 35 before he got run out in the 16th over. Mohammad Imran also lost his precious wicket for just 8 but it was Danish Aziz who kept the game interesting by the end before Sohail Tanvir clean bowled him in the second last over, adding to the worries of Hawks with another wicket of Waqas Maqsood on the very next delivery. Hawks required 9 runs in the last over that was too much to ask from two tale enders who could not win it for Rawalakot Hawks and allowed Muzaffarabad Tigers to celebrate on a brilliant victory in the qualifier where they won against Hawks by 7 wickets and qualified for the final of KPL 2021 that is going to be played on 17th of August in Muzaffarabad.

Azam Khan scored quick 20 off 13 while Khurram Manzoor lost his wicket for just 15, team being into further trouble. Kashif Ali stars as Rawalakot Hawks qualify for the final of the KPL 2021

An unbeaten century of Kashif Ali helps Rawalakot Hawks chase a record total in KPL 2021

Muzaffarabad:
Rawalakot Hawks beat Mirpur Royals by 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare in the eliminator 2 of the KPL 2021. Hawks chased Mirpur Royals' 237 runs target in the last over of the inning on monday. (16 August 2021) They will face Muzaffarabad Tigers in the final of the KPL 2021 on Tuesday.

Shahid Afridi, skipper of Rawalakot Hawks, won the toss and elected to ball first on a batting paradise of Muzaffarabad where Royals' openers got off to a sensational start and scored 74 in the first 7 overs. Mukhtar Ahmad played an ordinary inning of just 17 off 21 but his fellow opener, Sharjeel Khan, had a fabulous day at the 22 yards as the left hander smashed every bowler for plenty of runs and produced another 51 runs stand on just 21 deliveries alongside the skipper Shoaib Malik on second wicket.

Malik scored just 15 off 12 while Sharjeel had such an outstanding stay that Royals reached 200 in the 17th over. Mohammad Akhlaq scored 29 off 21 with 2 fours and sixes while Khushdil Shah helped his side reach 236 by contributing with his 12 runs knock.

The star of the evening from Mirpur Royals obviously had been Sharjeel Khan who played a big inning of 141 off 63 deliveries on a big day, making sure Royals score some extra runs as well. He smashed the white ball for 12 fours and 12 sixes. Almost every Royals' bowler leaked runs with an economy rate of over 11 but Zaman Khan, the right arm fast bolwer, remained the star bowler of the day as he gave away just 18 runs in 4 overs and sent Shoaib Malik and Sharjeel Khan back towards the pavilion.

Ahmed Shehzad had gotten injured during the fielding so Hawks were coming up with double pressure of chasing 237 and having lost their premium cast opener. Sameen Gul striked in his very first over when Umar Amin threw an easy catch to the wicket keeper. Mohammad Imran had not been utilized brilliantly at the lower order so management promoted him at no.3 to go big in a high-scoring competition but allrounder failed to get a good outing and lost his wicket for just 13 off 11 to Ammad Butt who dismissed Bismillah Khan as well after just another delivery in the same over.

Coming in at no.4, the young Kashmiri sensation, Kashif Ali, had a day better than Sharjeel Khan even as he rescued his side in their all important game. Kashif was joined by Hussain Talat and both produced an unbelievable partnership, scoring 85 in just 6.3 overs. Hussain Talat got out for 51 off 22 that included his 7 fours and 2 sixes as well. Danish Aziz got out for just 6 off 5 while Shahid Afridi failed to play a big inning on the big day.

Asif Afridi also scored just 7 runs but Kashif Ali alone went on to chase more than 50 in the last 4 overs as Hawks chased 237 runs target in 19.4 overs. Kashif played an unbeaten knock of 114 off 51 with 9 fours and 8 sixes. Ammad Butt and Sameen Gul got 3 and 2 wickets each but failed to stop the flow of runs at the back end that helped Hawks chase a record total in KPL 2021. Due to his outstanding 114*, Kashif Ali was given the man of the match award in eliminator 2.
