Religious parties announce restoration of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA)

LAHORE: A decision has been made to restore Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, a coalition of religio-political parties of Pakistan.

The decision was made at a meeting of top leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl and other parties.

Speaking to media along with leaders from other parties, Sirajul Haq said they have decided in principle to restore the MMA, of which a formal announcement would be made next month in Karachi.

He said a consensus on restoration of the MMA was achieved in the light of recommendations presented at the meeting and they would hold a meeting of at the residence of Shah Owais Noorani in Karachi in the mid of December.

"We understand that elections should be held on time, in accordance with the constitution," Haq said.

He added the parties which were not represented at Thursday's meeting would also be approached.

Bad news for PTI. Don't think they will lose KPK, but they will definitely lose some valuable NA seats.

This is worrying news for PTI indeed as there is massive religious votebank and this alliance will surely result in PTI losing a few NA seats and quite a few provincial seats especially if they do seat adjustment with PMLN as well.

So my question to all those "Establishment ki saazish" brigade is, who is reviving a party that was called "Mullah Military Alliance"? Isn't this biggest threat to PTI coming back to power in 2018?

PMLN would be biggest beneficiaries as Fazl ur Rehman is already in their pocket and now whole MMA will become their allies so who is establishment supporting here??

There are plenty of sympathizers and supporters of the MMA. This is certainly bad news for the Dry Cleaners, but the educated masses are never going to vote for them. Unfortunately, they are in the minority.

Perfect opportunity to test some drones that Pakistan has supposedly produced and/or acquired. Or ask the Americans to give a hand - they must have some that can be sea launched from a ship stationed just off the coast from Karachi.

This could spell trouble in Karachi as well. With MQM vote divided MMA will take seats in Karachi so a PPP government staying in power chances have gone way up.

JUIF was well on their way to lose at least 50% of their current seats and JI was getting humiliated everywhere so it makes sense for them to join hands but i am sure they will start fighting again sooner or later and i hope it starts BEFORE elections.

If they stay united then PTI will need to go for electables even in KPK which they didn't have to do in 2013 and lot of people are ready to join PTI so very interesting competition in KPK (considering ANP is making some sort of revival as well).

True it's really going to hurt PTI on conservative districts of KP. Waqat waqt ki baat he bhai JI was rejecting the idea of MMA again before GE2013 because they thought they are strong enough to win alone and now they are begging for an alliance because it's looking dark for them in KP alone
