shahdab kabir , stylish lefthander, equivelant of nash(westindies)

remember seein him on the 1996 tour of england, alot of spoken of him,
but also remember him getting 3 ducks in his first 3 odi innings.

and never saw him again,

Yeah apparently he was 18 year old lefti on that tour! BBC commentators at that time were saying baby face.

Opened the batting with Saeed Anwar after Aamir Sohail was Injured or Something,
But he did not progress at all after that tour of England.

I saw him play live in England. Kid had a big heart another that was never given the chance to develop. I think there is a thing about left handlers from Karachi. Asif Mujtaba, Asim Ksmal, Shadab and Fawad, none of them earth shattering but all of them good enough to have gotten more opportunities than they did.

Tbh he looked well out of his depth on that England tour and disappearing into obscurity ever since.

Not sure what what tour you watched. But the one I saw had an 18 year old kid who was not an opening batsmen sent in against an experienced if not especially potent pace attack and grit it out with great courage. I don't think he looked out of depth at all given the situation, for example he looked a hell of a lot more composed than umar Amin did in 2010.

Favorite shot- Hoick across the line

Remember seeing a vid on youtube with him hitting some big sixes

I know him very well.He used to live in my neighborhood back in Pakistan. I even helped him training many times as he used to take us to the TMC ground in F.B.Area at the abondoned tennis court for practice. He used to ask us to through ball at him. I must say that for the net the guy really used to middle very well. But he failed badly on the international arena.

Oh by the way, I know him well also caz he has blue eyes....You dont see that in Pakistan...lol

I remember that name.

Always used to get confused between Shadab Kabir and Shahid Nazir. I think they both played at the same time for Pak.

He is 34 years old now

His last game was in 2009.

Not technically great but the kid showed a hell of alot of guts and grit during the limited tests he got against england. As a few mention in the mold of asim kamal, fawad alam.

He was an upcoming and talented batsman. Wasim Akram tried to pull a Imran Khan...by forcing selectors to play this guy for pakistan. Wasim Akram was the sole reason he got selected, he thought this kid can become something.

you definitely got the wrong guy,

this guy was a compack player, blue eyes, i remember his attempting a catch and diving (superman style) but catch was out of reach but his effort impressed all,

yes in the test against england he over all impressed but his temprement,
then he played the odi's 3 inning all duck,
i believe his last innings i remember was against india in the sahara cup in canada where he was out 2 a spinner (sunil doshi) maybe

He showed a lot of heart on that 1996 tour, unfortunately that's all I remember.

yeah kebab kid scored some good 30's on that 96 tour. I guess he didn't have the right backing.

lived in my mohalla in karachi, now a days in very bad shape.have put lots of kilos behind his belly, good thing is that he have a family business.thats why financial condition is not that bad!!

I remember it very well, if I can remember he showed guts and courage against an ordinary England side. There was nothing to suggest there was anything out of the ordinary about him.

That is absolutely true and that's what I enjoyed about Wasim. He was always looking to unearth a young gem and although it's quite a risky policy it's very rewarding if it works. I think he also unleashed Mohammed Akram on that tour and if memory serves me rightly, the unknown Saqi whom he was already hailing as the best off-spinner in the world. I dont think he played any tests though. Ha, I wish we took those risks nowadays.

We have a great chance of winning the series in England since 1996. Shadab likely to play, but there was another Shadab back then...Shadab Kabir - what happened to him?
