I think Formula 1 too moved out of India because of a similar reason. If tax exemption is the norm for big events, then India shouldn't act any different.

Any idea if 2015 WC was tax free?
Its all about leverage, "you tax us, we move out" . Big business do it everywhere. But in this case ICC cannot afford to lose the Indian market. BCCI can create its own league without help from ICC. SL, Zimbabwe, NZ, WI cannot survive without an India series. A world cup without India would generate less than half the revenue. (remember the disaster that was 2007 WC)

Tough. But not impossible. In longer run BCCI wont be able to survive without ICC. Its mickey mouse leagues and nations will loose interest soon. ICC has survived on 25 percent profit. It still can.
Its not about ICC surviving, its the member nations. As of now some nations are having serious financial crisis and it will only get worse if ICC gets hit hard. Many players would go rebel and join IPL and/or play various other leagues and give up on national duties. Those who think for players representing a nation for pride is bigger deal than playing leagues and securing financial needs are seriously deluded.
Interesting times ahead, If BCCI do breaks away then Im down with year long IPL and seldom overseas games for overseas Indians.
You are down. Not everyone else will be. People will stop seeing IPL since no concept of international players will exist. It will be glorified domestic tourney.
Sure. Nations will suffer. But who world united will break BCCIs arrogance if needed.

The indian govt will ban icc. No indian sponsors no telecast in india. Moreover hardly any country will support a sporting boycott of India, that has huge diplomatic repurrcussions beyond ICC.
80% of the foreign players would prefer playing for "unrecognized cricketing body" than playing for their national team.

I really don't understand why would India want to host these tournaments.. India can always make more money with IPL and Indian home season.. Tri/Quad/Penta tournament will earn more for India than the portion that they will get as part of ICC tournament. And it is not like India will not get any money when these tournaments happen somewhere else.. India has already hosted all these ICC tournaments... They should let others do it.. BCCI, if they are smart, will not let anyone else milk Indian viewers.. If Indians are willing to spend on the sport, BCCI should be smart enough to get all/most of it..
The ICC should take the $70 million from the ICC BCCI share and give to the PCB, next they should be strict with the BCCI with regards to the ICC events in India. Must take the fight to the BCCI and other boards should follow suit.
As I wrote last year, when Manohar moved from the BCCI to the ICC he took with him the information that BCCI spending is so out of control that the BCCI is insolvent without ICC welfare handouts.
The BCCI backed down on the Big Three model, but they still seem not to understand that the other Boards now very clearly understand that the BCCI is an economic basket case.

That's what all governing bodies do ... they want tax exemption everywhere they go. FIFA is one prime example.
Yeah but I'd argue that they shouldn't get it.
BCCI should actually be smart and use this opportunity and let ICC plan to move it out of India. Remember every rupee an Indian fan spends on ICC event, will lead to probably 30 paisa revenue to BCCI. Same one rupee spent on Indian home season and IPL will lead to full one rupee revenue to BCCI. It is just simple business sense. Even a street vendor knows that sharing the footpath with another vendor means his revenues will be hit..
This doesn't mean India should walk away from Intl matches.. It should only concentrate on Intl cricket where it has full control and has opportunity to make the most revenue, which would be IPL and Home cricket. why let ICC get all the revenue and then fight for a share when you can have it all?
really? there are already players giving up on FC cricket and taking up LOIs only.. do you think they will not come and play in IPL. Irrespective of what you fantasize, there will never be any dearth of quality international players for IPL. If other boards come in the way, players will not sign the board contract, especially if IPL is ready to provide them with 3 to five years of contract. There are numerous SA players going to ENgland for far less money for few years contract..
Say for example, In the football World Cup say most multinational companies are mainly based in USA or China then should these 2 control FIFA and hold them to ransom?
Doesn’t matter what income what not BCCI and India bring, sports governing bodies like the ICC should always be independent in terms of control and influence by any 1 country. Otherwise what’s the point of the ICC, may as well just let the BCCI ‘govern’ or ‘bully’ the cricket world openly.
The multinational companies are not based in India.
The majority of the audience is based in India, big difference. The audience for FIFA WC is not similarly concentrated in the US or China.
Companies benefit from sponsorship regardless which country they are based. Just because benefiting sponsors are based in ones country should not mean they have more rights or control.
I have always found this argument ludicrous that as there is more revenue due to Indian sponsorship companies or just population number then they have more rights. Ludicrous
It’s a win win situation for India though. They control the sport because of money, they benefit financially and put that money in to improve their players and structure. You might as well forget the rest of the world as everyone owes them for the money. BTW they never paid Pakistan their dues to them for 1996 World Cup.

The Indian cricket board has expressed its reservations about ICC's policy of inviting bidders (Expression of Interest) for hosting global tournaments during the next eight-year cycle between 2023-2031.
During an ICC board meet on Thursday, the BCCI made it clear that they are completely against the idea of the global body issuing EOI and demanding money from any potential hosting nation.
"The BCCI brass has made their displeasure clear about this EOI concept for the next cycle during yesterday's board meet," a senior BCCI official privy to the development, said.
"In fact, we are confident of getting good support from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Australia (CA)."
The Expression of Interest concept has blessings of ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney who had the support of boards like Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
"Even some of the smaller boards like Oman and Emirates Cricket board along with Malaysia and Singapore are among those who have submitted combined EOI for hosting global meets," the source said.It is believed that there has been around 93 Expressions of Interest for 28 flagship events (men, women and U19) during the 2023-31 cycle but this push to demand money for awarding hosting rights have met a roadblock from world's richest board which in principle is against such a policy.
It is also learnt that till now some of the influential boards are not ready with ICC's plan to have one flagship event in each of the eight years during the next cycle.
