The big question is, how much of this does the PCB get to keep?

Is it going to be the case where the franchises say, none for you and all for me?

TBH, I don't mind that.

Main thing is that the number generated is good and keeps the franchises interested as well.

as per report - revenue.

Deduct the cost of organising the tournament.

90 per cent goes to franchisees.

So PCB is left with may be a 1mn plus and whatever franchisee fees they get.

So basically PCB's profit is the franchisee fee.

$16-17 million profit for the PCB. Almost equivalent to their ICC share for the year.

PCB needs to do more to be self sufficient.

Don't forget, the PCB had to foot the bill for the PSL Security in Punjab which was close to Rs 500 million. That was the only way they were able to save the Rawalpindi, Lahore leg of the PSL. The PCB compromised with the Punjab government because of massive fan demand to see the PSL in Punjab.

PSL Needs to expand to a 8-9 month league, PCB needs to go their "own cricket route"

Why is this ok, but IPL being 3 months long is too long, boring and is destroying cricket?

It looks like you are a "Traditional Cricket Fan", like the majority of posters on Pakpassion, and so you may think IPL, PSL, T20 Format is destroying cricket

But In reality, T20, and Franchise cricket is the future, and the most valuable format of cricket at the moment.

imo Its just a matter of time before these leagues expand to 8-9 months.

but my point is Pakistan Cricket board needs to do it soon, since they are very vulnerable to being isolated in the cricketing world, big reason being Pakistan cricket players (presumably) wont be able to play in IPL.

edit: I forgot to mention the basic idea to a 8-9 month league, the answer being a 8-9 month league is an actual league, a 1 - 3 month tournament is not a league.

And people enjoy watching leagues with a 8-9 month longevity, example premier league, NBA, others.

There is no chance foreigners will stay 8-9 months in Pakistan and less chance that we will be able to foot a 9 month security bill.

A bit of a left field idea but I think Pakistan should have its own T10 league. Perhaps a summer version of PSL that is only 10 overs a match.

Pakistan is probably the best market for this type of cricket :afridi

Yes of course you are right,

And I did not at all mean 8-9 consecutive months where players stay in Pakistan (but I should have clarified), because that would be unrealistic, obviously there will be breaks between multiple matchdays

basically its a larger scale version (in terms of longevity) of the UEFA Champions League

I think you misunderstood my statement/question.

Foreigners can choose to live in UAE / Qatar or even India if they want and would just need to travel back and forth for training and matches..

IPL is free to do the same..

Of course. IPL can do anything they want. But as is, the three month IPL is accused of killing cricket, on this forum. If that is the case, what would a 9 month PSL do to cricket?
