PCB has reached out to four cricket boards in order to schedule One Day International (ODI) matches for the Pakistan team before the 2023 World Cup, which will take place in India later this year.

Sources have revealed that the PCB has initiated contact with Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and South Africa, inviting them to visit Pakistan in August and participate in either bilateral or tri-nation series.

The PCB's feels that these series would offer the visiting teams an opportunity to acclimatize to the conditions in the subcontinent ahead of the 2023 World Cup.

These countries would much rather get that warm up in a tourist resort nation like Sri Lanka instead of Pakistan

Sure but SL isn't inviting any of them. PCB is

I’m just telling you their mindset/psychology

As a SENA player, knowing that the World Cup usually lasts 50 days…that’s 50 days of their lives in India away from the comfort of their western settings. Add another month or so before it in Pakistan…why would they want to bother with it?

If they want practice on SC pitches, they would much much rather prefer SL with its beaches, bars and golf courses before heading off to India

The PCB indicating that they are proactive. Well done.

A 3 match ODI series again any of these teams before the WC is excellent practice. One week tour.

Enough excellent golf courses and comfy hotel facilities in Lahore and Karachi.

Oh yes. SENA national security advisors are more than happy with their citizens to roam freely in Karachi and Lahore golf courses at will

umm, in Pakistan the govt makes sure that the golf course will be open for the team and no one else.

So stop speaking nonsense all the time

No more New Zealand games, have had enough of them.

Australia and South Africa would be excited because they would be looking for spin practice, and Pakistan would be ideal for them. Either one is good for us.

Bilateral or ideally tri nation series would be great to see. In terms of the other teams acclimatising to conditions.. seeing the pitches in Pakistan in the last year I don’t think the other teams will benefit at all in that regard, other than perhaps get a morale boost from beating Pak heading into the tournament.

Would love to see a tri-nation tournament involving Pakistan, Australia, and South Africa before the World Cup.

Too much logistics headache

Cricket boards make good money with a bilateral.

Great

With 2000 security guards on watch

Good move, hopefully they are able to arrange 1 or 2 series out of this. We need quality opposition to prepare for the WC

Pakistan-Australia-SA tri-series should be a good one.

We no longer see much tri-series tournaments anymore.

With PCB and the fans stating that there is no security issue in Pakistan after deploying 2 billion soldiers to keep the players safe. :91:

Hypothetically speaking if any of these series do happen then the haters of Pakistan, and pretender fan-bois of Pakistan Cricket, will be the first to tune in to watch every ball and then comment on performances and team selection as if they are the Oracle of Cricket.

Kudos to PCB for being proactive about this.

I wouldnt mind a tri series with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Australia/RSA. Bangladesh need practice playing against Saheen Shah Afridi.

And where will they get spin practice in pakistanN

A quadrangular series just before world cup- I don't think ICC will allow it to happen. PCB should focus of bilateral series for practice. It is not a bad offer for BCB. They should accept it .

July and august are the most hottest months in central punjab as well as in sindh with humidity on the higher side. Apart from that why would any SENA country want to play a series on dead wickets? Pakistan pitches are different than indian pitches in nature

We do have a defence budget equivalent to 2 billion soldiers. Lets make some use of them.

great initiative. I can realistically see BD/SA coming. Maybe Lanka?

Weather in Karachi and Rawalpindi does not become very hot in August, with maximum average temperature hovering around 32-33 in August for both cities (https://www.climatestotravel.com/climate/pakistan).

Washouts due monsoon would be an issue though

Najam Sethi confirmed that these series will not happen as Pakistan are now playing in the Asia Cup.

Great sigh of relief for these countries who now don’t have to make excuses to politely decline

We have 3 ODIs against afghanistan in August before Asia cup, right? There is also a chance of 3 ODIs next month in SL along with 2 tests.

Yes as per the FTP there are 3 ODIs against Afghanistan but if I'm not wrong there are rumors that these may be cancelled. Not sure about the reason.

Must be replaced by some other ODIs then, we need more practice than just asia cup.
