Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to take Prime Minister Imran Khan into confidence before resuming cricketing activities in the country. The board has decided to prepare a bio-secure roadmap to get approval in this regard.

As per sources, team management is interested in conducting a training camp of national cricketers ahead of the much-important England tour, starting later next month. The camp is likely to start in the first week of June, after Eid at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Head Coach Misbah ul Haq, Bowling Coach Waqar Younis, and Director Domestic Cricket Zakir Khan have been tasked to prepare a bio-secure plan to bring cricketers back in action ahead of an important tour. Once ready, the idea would be discussed with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Sources privy to the matter said that the board wants to conduct special training and conditioning camps of the players for better preparations of the tour. The camp schedule, however, will be issued after a go-ahead from the government.

Sources said that the roadmap includes coronavirus tests for players, management, and NCA staff before and after the camp, online psychological sessions, and fitness drills. Players will be asked for their consent before finalizing the 16-man squad for a two-month-long England tour.

The team management is likely to finalize the proposal by the end of this week, while a meeting between the board officials and PM Khan is expected over the weekend.
