As per reports:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have shortlisted players from Australia, England, South Africa, and other countries for the 10th edition’s draft. Notable players include Steve Smith, Tim Southee, and Joe Root.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 draft has targeted a number of international players.

From Australia, they’re considering Steve Smith, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Sean Abbott, and Daniel Sams. England’s Joe Root, Adil Rashid, Ben Duckett, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, and Sam Billings are also on the list. New Zealand’s Tim Southee, Finn Allen, Colin Munro, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, and Ish Sodhi have been shortlisted. From South Africa, Rassie Van Der Dussen, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Reeza Hendricks are being considered. Lastly, Jason Holder from the West Indies is also a target for the draft.

The PSL 2025 event will be held from April 7 to May 20, due to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB is considering changes to enhance the excitement of PSL matches, such as teams submitting two separate team sheets at the toss and applying Power Surge, similar to Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).

Lahore and Rawalpindi are set to host more matches than Karachi in the PSL 2025. Karachi has been allocated fewer matches due to low turnout in the last season. The playoffs are likely to be held in England. During the last competition, Karachi hosted 11 matches, Lahore and Rawalpindi each hosted nine, and Multan hosted five.

Isn't the PCB shortlisting these players since many seasons? Ironically PSL got big names like Gayle, McCullum and de Villiers in the earlier seasons only.

Smith and Root aren't those household T20 players though. Not anymore.

But players like Josh Inglis, josh hazlwood, tim southee will be good addition.

If the Champions Trophy takes place, then you could see some big names for the PSL.

What the PCB need to do is make the player's stay more engaging, especially in the big three cities. The off-field activities need to be promoted and made a priority. A hotel with some fancy food is not enough.

Yeah, the champions trophy has become pretty important now for Pakistan. That could be a make or break point for PCB.

PSL X could be one of the biggest PSLs in terms of star value, the playoffs in england will definitely add some flavour to the tournament. It can be an occasional fixture of the tournament, once every 2 years type!

Excellent suggestions! Playoffs are rumored to be scheduled in England, what do you think about this?

They've had 10 years, trust me they will do the bare minimum.

Everything will depend on whether the BCCI and the IPL franchise owners feel threatened by the PCB and PSL or not. Everything they have done since 2008 has been fueled by the hatred, humiliation and isolation of Pakistan. They can easily threaten everyone to boycott the PSL and if not then risk being barred in India. Alternatively they can invite all psl aspirants into coaching, ambassador roles in the IPL or pay them a fee in exchange for not playing in the PSL.

Spot on with the outside activities.

This is where everything is lost.

They can increase the player pool :) Now they have restriction on how many overseas, how much money they spend. They can increase the cap.

They have enough money to buy players and stuff just for the sake of it.

I think a lot of western players pretend to sit around and listen to Qawalli like they do in the PSL.

That sort of thing is ok here and there but there isn't really a culture of these types of parties in the west, or of being impressed by lavish dinners over and over again.

They do like things like golf, and we have plenty of golf courses, and perhaps outdoors visit to mountain ranges could be arranged too.

I just can’t see this working.

Qalandars will veto this. They secured the signature of one of the best T20 players/bowlers in the world in Rashid Khan. They have seen the consequence of not having him available to them this season. How are they just going to let this go? No chance Rashid Khan will be playing PSL during an ongoing IPL season

The way to do it is wait for the IPL draft to end, and then hold your draft a couple of week’s later. See who enters (having not been picked or retained in IPL).

Targeting players now will backfire. A lot of these players that have not featured in IPL will still end up on the bench earning big money per game they are available for.

A lot of them who didn’t play are happy to skip it too just to focus on 2 months off from any serious cricket. A lot of players will never pick PSL because playing in Pakistan is maybe a dreadful experience because of how boring the country is from a westernised pov.

The second issue with this is that the players you have managed to sign…

They could still be picked up by the IPL for next year, hence a PSL franchise can never truly retain an overseas player.

It’s very risky business

When will be PSL 10 draft be? Anxiously waiting for that. Hope there will be top foreign players as well.

Why would the playoff's be held in England?

I thought Smith had a commentary gig in the IPL. If so, how will he play in the PSL?

Also, isn't Hazlewood in the IPL? Or was he let go?

Don't believe we'll hear anything about PSL until the CT'25 talks reach a conclusion.

PSL 10 draft likely to be held abroad

The players’ draft for the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is being considered to be held abroad, sources claimed on Friday.

According to the details, a high-profile meeting was recently held here to discuss the matters related to the next edition of the league.

During the meeting, the six franchises suggested holding the draft in either England or Dubai in a bid to increase the popularity of the PSL.

The franchises also pressed on roping in notable foreign players for the upcoming edition, especially those, who went unnoticed in the recently-held Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction.

In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) assured the inclusion of renowned overseas players.

The franchises further demanded PCB to provide financial assistance in picking top foreign cricketers.

Furthermore, the teams’ representative also requested the PCB to contact England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for English player’s participation in the next edition of the PSL.

Remember, the ECB has decided against issuing the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to national cricketers for participating in overseas franchise leagues that clash with the domestic season.

The decision is likely to result in a significant decline in England players’ participation in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), whose next edition will collide with their domestic season due to the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

Notably, the upcoming 10th edition of the PSL is set to run concurrently with the cash-rich IPL for the first time since its inception in 2016.

The PSL, usually held in the February-March window each year, will take place between April and May next year, a window already acquired by the rival league IPL.

The alteration in the schedule came in the wake of Pakistan hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, slated to run across the league’s usual window next year.

PSL needs a major overhaul - really poor league in ternms of quality of cricket played.. evident by the way our National team performs...

A bunch of mediocre players playing together does not benefit anyone...

Franchise owners submit list of unsold overseas IPL players to PCB for Pakistan Super League draft

Franchise owners have submitted a list of overseas players who went unsold in the recent IPL auction to the PCB to ensure they are registered for the Pakistan Super League players' draft.

The upcoming seasons of the PSL and Indian Premier League (IPL) will likely overlap with each for the first time next year. While most the players will choose the more lucrative India league ahead of PSL, a number of high profile overseas cricketers including David Warner, Kane Williamson, Adil Rashid, Alex Carey, Keshav Maharaj, Shai Hope, Donovan Ferrara, Daryl Mitchell, Jonny Bairstow, Akeal Hossain went unsold at the IPL auction.

"The team owners want the PCB to talk to the agents and boards of these players and confirm their availability for the PSL 2025," an insider said.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), seemingly inspired by the BCCI's decision to host the recent IPL auction abroad, is also planning to hold the players' draft for PSL in either London or Dubai.

The proposal to hold the players draft abroad for the PSL's 2025 edition was discussed during a meeting between the franchise owners and the PCB officials.

Just two or three big players can do per side instead of 4 relo kutta foreign one.

You listened to me when I suggested it and
Hopefully we see some of the more high profile players in the PSL. This is a great opportunity PSL, don't mess it up.

Say whatever but the quality of fast bowling in PSL is way superior to IPL.

If franchises pay top dollar. They will definitely get an overwhelming majority of those players who went unsold in the IPL.
