[Report] Younis Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed not included in team management for Zimbabwe series

Lahore: Former Test cricketers Younis Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed have been dropped from the team management for T20Is and ODIs against Zimbabwe, ARY News reported.

According to the details, PCB has decided to discontinue Khan and Ahmed for the home series. They both are expected to join the team management once again for the New Zealand tour in December.

Now, Pakistan team management included Misbah-ul-Haq (Head Coach), Waqar Younis (Bowling Coach), Abdul Majeed (Fielding Coach), Shahid Aslam (Assistant Coach), Cliff Deacon (Physiotherapist), Yasir Malik (Strength and Conditioning Coach), Mansoor Rana (Manager), Col (retd) Usman Anwari, Raza Rashid (Media Manager) and Maland Ali (Massuer).

It must be noted here that Khan as batting coach and Mushtaq as spin bowling coach were specially included in team management for England tour in COVID-19 times.

Makes sense, this is a minor thing and especially with the COVID bubble, this can be done.
 
Really don't need a coach there at all. Babar and Shadab should be making cricketing decisions, with some other administrative personnel alongside for non-cricketing related items (PR, etc)

Really what value is Misbah going to bring by tagging along over a 10 day tour?

And if you don't trust Babar, then really don't need a captain at all. Misbah can just make bowling and fielding changes communicating from the dressing room
 
Younis should be there. And actually Mushy as well. They are good coaches.

I think it's a good decision as we are only playing Zimbabwe they should go home get some rest and then back again for the New Zealand tour
 
Good decision they are not needed for the Zimbabwe series as it's a minor tour they should both be back against New Zealand
 
Younis should be nowhere near the team until he publicly apologises and is punished for the knife incident.

An ATG player but a ridiculous human being who should be deal with the consequences of his actions.

I think they are testing the coaches to see how they interact with the players against good opponents.we also know once a person gets a contract they will take a chill but becouse they havent been given long term contracts they will work hard to prove they deserve it.and yes it's a series based contract I expect them to be long term appointments very soon thou maybe after the Zimbabwe tour

A dining knife used for putting margarine on bread? Should he apologise to the bread too which actually felt the full brunt of the knife.

Surely you cannot be serious....

You’re defending younis for putting a knife to the throat of his coach... because the knife wasn’t sharp enough? Just please think that through. I don’t even know how to begin explaining this to you.

Pretty sure if he had a machete he would have used that instead but fortunately it appears they were eating so only a table knife was at hand.

Who has shown time and time again that by is a self centred and egotistical human being and meets to be put in his place. I guess it’s good they put up with his antics during his playing years but now he’s retired, he has nothing to offer Pakistan except scribbling in a book.

Younis was cringe in England I thought. All the theatrics from the dug out and taking credit for Babar's batting.

Pakistan batting did nothing better and nothing worse than previous Pakistani teams who have been to England in those conditions.

You don't need another ego in Pakistan coaching camps - just a smart professional who does his job quietly.

He did his job. He changed Azhar’s stance and gave our tailenders batting practice. Obviously he’s done all the normal batting coach stuff. Given how short of a period he’s been with the team, I’d say those are good initial results.
 
Need to get a quality fielding coach. James Foster or Gareth Hopkins would be a good shout.
 
Please note that Younis is not out of the picture and is more than likely to be part of the NZ touring party - am sure Mushy wont be too far behind

Why PCB offers so long term contract? PCB did same thing with Misbah and now they have to wait another 2 years.
Any new coach if not professional and experience should not be offer more than 1 year to start with.
