[REPORTS] Haider Ali cleared of rape charges owing to insufficient evidence [Update@ Post#173]

You just contradicted yourself. As i said, the players are given a daily allowance on tour.

You presented the argument of the off field pov, when i proved that it doesnt work you are now changing your words.

It doest matter what you or me have to say, PCB will slowly keep him out of future tours now.
You presented the argument that the players get paid to be on tour, so they should not indulge in such activities on tour. That argument falls flat when I pointed out that the payment argument does not work because they get paid a monthly salary as well when they are not on tour... so, tour or no tour does not change anything. Where is the contradiction?

Now, the off field part. You presented Kaneria's case as the argument. I pointed out that it is not "off field" because he was caught fixing a cricket game. How can that be off field? Also, it was criminal act, a clear violation of Kaneria's employment contract. So, this argument of yours also falls flat because both those things are not applicable in Haider's case (assuming consensuality). Where did I change my words?

I never said it matters. I am not out here influencing PCB's decision.

Poor mentality, as these players are role models of future generations of players.

Funny how people who cry about players being unprofessional and ill disciplined then don't see any problem with problematic role models who influence future generations.

I have always said, if you had banned Asif forever, Amir would never have strayed and would have a long, nice career.

You cannot keep crying about lack of professionalism on one hand while letting unprofessional behavior go unpunished again and again and again.

BCCI disciplined two of our bigger stars for just an unprofessional interview. Something like this will end careers in most countries.
A very dumb argument.

These players are role models for future generation not for how they live their private lives but for their profession! No kid, in their right mind, would say that I want to emulate the values by which Pakistani cricketers live their lives. Mind you, almost all these cricketers come from a very underprivileged backgrounds with no education and usually not a very strong sense of ethics and morals (not blaming them because its a product of their environment). So, no one is looking up to them outside of a cricket field. Kids still want to be like Amir, does that mean they also want to fix games?

Haider is not paid to live a morally correct life off the pitch. He is paid to play cricket and play it right. Kids who make him their role model will still want to play cricket like it.

Banning Asif does not compare because Asif got involved in activities that were illegal and were also detrimental to his cricket. Till now, Haider's actions have not been proven to be either.

If the Australian board starts policing their cricketers on who they sleep with, they wouldn't be left with a team!

Major development in Haider Ali’s ongoing case in UK

Pakistan batter Haider Ali has been granted a two-week extension on his bail by Greater Manchester Police after a British-Pakistani woman lodged a complaint against him regarding an alleged incident at a local hotel.

Haider was originally due to appear before the police on August 20, but has now been asked to appear two weeks later as the investigation continues.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed to Geo News that the young cricketer had been arrested earlier this month following the complaint.

The police statement said: "It’s alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 23 July, 2025, at a premises in Manchester. The man has since been bailed pending further enquiries. The victim is being supported by officers."

In his police interview, Ali denied any wrongdoing. According to his family, he told investigators that he knew the woman well and described her as a friend. Sources added that their meeting took place at a hotel in Manchester.

Ali was taken into custody by Kent Police from the Players’ Canteen Office at the Spitfire County Cricket Ground and was then moved to Canterbury Police Station.

Does it surprise anyone? Specially after knowing about the grooming gangs in the UK?
The discussion here isnt about pedophilia or rape, as none of those happened.

Its about sex out of wedlock (consensual), many people might think its alright, while some of us think its not due to our religion.

So anything that indians are trying to spin here is waste of time

Jeez, consensual? Pass the dictionary.

Haider Ali is accused of RAPE - which is NOT consensual. This has nothing to with religion, and the UK courts will not reference any persons race, colour, or creed.

In the UK, the courts are indeed blind, and far from corrupt. If found guilty, they will lock him up and throw away the key.

The fact that an out of court settlement was rejected means there is guilt, cos no matter how stupid you are, no one pays up for not committing a crime.

He has been accused of RAPE, and that is not consensual sex.

I know what he is accused of, but as you read the details and the fact that he has gotten bail, points towards consensual sex.

I am not defending him, you could see on the first page i have written against him, but it is more likely consensual and i still have issues with that.

with her then why on earth she complained about the rape DAYS LATER? she couldn't differentiate between a rape intent and a friendly night hangout for days?

IF she was so innocent then she should have complained instantly the moment Haider tried to rape her and get her arrested on the spot ,
This has been explained a million times and I even linked studies, that 99% of assault victims take days, weeks and sometimes months to report assault

The victim takes many days just to process the trauma, then they need to consult family and friends because coming out in public is a big deal.

For south Asians in particular being a victim of assault is a huge negative and most women don't even have the courage to complain which is why most cases go unreported.

This case might not be the same but please stop repeating this ignorant assertion even after people have corrected you.

Consensual sex always become rape attempt once the wedding promised is denied. Why offer yourself for sex out of wedlock in the first place?
How do you know wedding was promised? Why are you coming up with 100 different excuses to blame the victim before even the truth came out?

You imagined some random scenario and building some fantasies

Haider Ali cleared of rape charges in UK

Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been cleared of rape charges after insufficient evidence against him in the case, ARY News reported on Wednesday, citing sources.

Sources said that the Greater Manchester Police found no evidence against the Pakistani cricketer despite taking additional time from a local court.

Subsequently, the case against Haider Ali was dismissed, and he is expected to get his passport back from the UK authorities.

The case stemmed from the rape allegations levelled against the Pakistani cricketer by a woman last month.

Ali, who was with the Pakistan Shaheens on the England tour, was taken into custody and investigated for three days after the accusations.

If that's really true and that nothing was found against him then its good. He better now focus on Cricket as he has talent to make a comeback

The way I am seeing "mubarakbads" on social media, this classifies as the best news for Pakistan cricket in recent times

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic but to be accused and cleared of such an awful crime is indeed a cause for celebration. It had the potential to ruin a young person’s life.

Good for Haider, but I have a question - how will his friends/ Teammates view Haider after this incident, even though he has been declared innocent? :kp

Imagine caring about what someone else does in their private space

Things that you have issues with are not for a cricketing forum. It’s not for you to deduce consensual anything , we don’t know facts of the case and we don’t care for your moral views. This is a cricketing forum. As he’s found not guilty at the very least we can say he didn’t commit the crime he’s accused of and can continue with his life. Good luck to him.

Its sad how people think this is good news.

Its abit disturbing how these guys cant keep it in their pants and get themselves in such situations

Good luck to him and wish him the best. It’s a bit of a stretch to think he will return as a worthy player in the current squad on cricketing ability. Never rated him.

But has to be said there is something incredibly annoying about some of our players having no common sense about how to handle themselves and not put themselves in awkward situations. Such brainless idiotic behaviour has seen them in casinos with manager moin khan on tour, smoking cannabis on West Indian beaches (saqlain) regular clubbing and drinking (Wasim). Of course it’s not just Pakistan, Paul collingwood (strip joints) flintoff..pedalo.

It’s really sad that our guys in particular are completely brain dead when considering how they should present themselves.

Haider's troubles are far from over. The PCB initially stated in their statement that they were allowing the UK police and their investigations to take precedence and priority. Once Haider comes back to Pakistan, the PCB will take their own action against him which they should.

Action for what?

Pretty poor statements. As someone who's previous career was law (in the UK) the police and CPS aren't really particular about innocence, everything is dictated by stats. If they feel they can manipulate someone in an interview and later use it they will and have done many times I know off as I have advised people about this in their personal situations many times. Which is why anyone with common sense is advised to say no comment in an interview.

Furthermore in the UK the usual time between bail and charge is 1.5 years give or take, during which time if you have kids under 18 you can't stay with them, you're suspended and your life is a ruin....without even being charged, never mind guilty. So many organisations I know off work with such people who's lives have been ruined or their families as their loved one commited suicide....before even being charged.

So stop with the nonsensical posts and let someone have their day in court.

Thanks.
@msb314

Unclear why my post wasn't allowed as it is very important to highlight individuals who I debated when this arrest was made, who were adamant Haider was an abuser despite no charge never mind a trial being happening.
