South Africa’s leg spinner Imran Tahir, regarded as one of the best bowlers in the game today is expected to be feature in the World XI squad, which is schedule to tour Pakistan between September 10-15

As per media reports citing sources, PCB is in talks with the Pakistan born leggie.

The tour of World XI consisting of international superstars is expect to tour Pakistan, which is expected to revive International cricket in the country.

Earlier it was reported, a pair of former Test captains mentioned as Pakistan Cricket Board look to lock in three-match T20 series

Former Australia World Cup winning captain Michael Clarke and Proteas batting superstar Hashim Amla are among the names, who could feature in a World XI side set to visit Pakistan in September.

While the Pakistan Cricket Board is still awaiting official security clearance from the Punjab government for the tour to go ahead, the proposal involves a three-match T20 series against the Pakistan national team, which would be recognised as full internationals by the ICC.

Only a 2015 tour by Zimbabwe, which included three ODIs and two T20Is, has broken a run of more than eight years without international cricket in Pakistan, since a Sri Lanka team bus was attacked by gunmen in Lahore.

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board has made commendable positive progress in negotiations with foreign cricketers for the tour with just a few weeks to go until the ICC World XI team comes to Pakistan for a three-match T20 series.

PCB sources report that South Africa’s star batsman Hashim Amla and spin king Imran Tahir will be included in the World XI squad, which is expected to tour Pakistan between September 10-15.

According to the sources, Former Zimbabwe captain and England coach Andy Flower is to attributed for putting together the World XI team and has made progress in talks with Amla and Pakistan-born Tahir.

The list of the thirteen players featuring in the World XI squad is expected to be announced in the next few days.
Upon the Punjab government’s request to push back the tour dates before the NA-120 by-election on September 7th, the world XI tour would be scheduled earlier than its original schedule of late September.

To persuade the players that it is safe to tour Pakistan, a security report on the proposed tour is created which will be delivered soon by the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA).

Tahir is a Pakistani.... Lived his whole life in Pakistan and i guess also visited Pak last year or a year b4.... but despite that would be great if he comes as the squad will look strong and energetic .....
If Amla comes it would be fantastic... He punished bowlers in IPL ruthlessly and hasn’t played T20 since... would be great if these two are part of squad...
The squad shud consist of only current players even if they aren't of great quality... it will change perception among foriegners... although i wud never mind retired players like KP and BAZ

One thing is for sure whoever among these players come to Pakistan will become Pakistanis' favorite and rightly so. Yes despite the thousands of dollars they will get.

Hearing Sammy, Tamim, Shakib & Adil Rashid are in the mix too.

we will hear a lot of things..... and this all will stop only when the squad will be announced...
Remember the squad is being assembled by batting coach FLOWER... so we shud accept sum good players.
I wonder how much FLOWER is being paid for this

Isn't it Andy Flower putting the team together?

Adil Rashid is rumoured to star for the World XI, he would do anything for a paycheck these days Markhor Big Mac

Presumably the rumours are false as it clashes with the West Indies ODI series.

Good point, he's undroppable after that 5fer against Ireland :yk We can't exclude out of these series against the small teams ;)

What is this expat Asian XI :91: ofcourse Asian players will travel we know the reality. We need the Roots and Starcs of cricket to come.

Not sure if having so many Asian origin and Muslim players will make much of a difference, Pakistan are wasting too much money for very little gain.

Sikandar Raza should also be approached. Zimbabwe are free and he came last year for national cup

Are you sure about that? It will send a good message that Pakistan is safe for cricket. If it was safe for Muslim players then Bangladesh would have toured Pakistan but they clearly don't think it is safe so it will still be beneficial. Although I do feel like they are spending way too much money on convincing the players to come; that money could be invested in grass roots cricket etc

A world XI without any Indian participation makes no sense

Well there are other nations who play cricket and India does not play cricket with us even on their own home soil so guess no big shock

Great point...

It shouldn't matter what the religion or ethnicity of the players is. The Sri Lankan team were all Asians and they were still attacked and the Bangladeshi and Afghan teams are full of players who are Muslims but they still don't feel safe enough to play cricket in Pakistan.

A World XI featuring an ATG like Amla and the best LOI spinner in the world would be fantastic news for Pakistan. I hope the ICC grants these matches international status.

Other world class players like Usman Khawaja, Sikander Raza, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and Shakib ul Hassan coming over will also be fantastic.

English papers reporting Paul Collingwood has made himself available for the world xi.

Cricket: James Neesham set for big payday in World XI series

Jimmy Neesham looks the prime New Zealand contender to be selected for the World XI to play a Twenty20 cricket series in Pakistan next month.

The Herald understands the Black Cap has been offered US$100,000 to stay for less than a week in Lahore as part of a 15-man Andy Flower-coached squad. The team will prepare for a week beforehand in Dubai.

The Pakistan government has promised presidential-level security for the tour. The team has been touted as comprising players from all top test-playing countries. An International Cricket Council security unit is expected to visit Lahore on August 26 and 27 as part of the vetting procedure. The ICC have granted the matches full international status with the Pakistan Cricket Board covering all tour expenses.

New Zealand's last tour to Pakistan was when the Chris Cairns-led one-day international side lost 5-0 in December 2003. A bomb in Karachi ended the May 2002 test tour.

Neesham's selection can only be thwarted if New Zealand Cricket refuse to issue a "no objection certificate".

Any ICC-sanctioned event needs a NOC by way of compliance from respective members.

Players can be denied a NOC on the basis of player welfare, as happened when Ross Taylor wanted to play for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League on New Year's Day too soon after his last game for Central Districts.

Alternatively, an NOC can be withheld if there are injury concerns, or if national duty intervenes.

Arbitration would otherwise be required to resolve any potential "restraint of trade" issues. If NZC grant Neesham permission to play, it is likely to come with a disclaimer that they will shoulder no liability for his travel, such as the cost of insurance.

Neesham recently played 14 matches for Kent in England's T20 Blast competition. His side finished mid-table in the South group and missed the quarter-finals.

The 26-year-old all-rounder scored 203 runs from 11 innings at an average of 29 and strike rate of 128; he took 14 wickets at an average of 33.07, strike rate of 21 and economy rate of 9.41.

Daniel Vettori and Grant Elliott are among the former New Zealand players believed to have been approached for the World XI series.

Vettori confirmed he would not be involved. Elliott was yet to respond, after the question was put to him by text overnight in England. He is currently playing for T20 Blast quarterfinalists Warwickshire.

The World XI matches mark the third time international players have visited Pakistan since the March 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus.

Zimbabwe embarked on a limited overs tour in May 2015, and the final of the Pakistan Super League was held at Lahore in March. A number of contracted overseas players, including Quetta Gladiator Nathan McCullum, opted out.

"This is a very big thing," PCB chairman Najam Sethi told a media conference this week.

"We need your prayers and we will open the doors and international teams will come. Pray that we keep our security solid."

Former New Zealand cricketer Lou Vincent led a group of players to train at Lahore's national academy when he was working as Hong Kong batting coach in January 2012.

At the time - and before he suffered a life ban for match-fixing - he spoke to the Herald on Sunday about returning to the country he was evacuated from a decade earlier.

"We were treated like royalty, right from immigration to the hotel. Safety is still a big aspect of operating there. Roadblocks and checkpoints are everywhere."
However, the environment was not devoid of fun.

"We arrived at the academy from the airport about 6pm and stumbled upon a spontaneous match of tapeball cricket on a makeshift 18-yard pitch in the garden out front.

"Groundsmen downed tools, a couple of policemen rolled the arm over and one security guard put down his gun, grabbed the bat and played a reverse sweep first ball, casual as you like."
