As per media reports The PCB has imposed heavy fines on national players for violating discipline.

Fines totaling 3.3 million rupees were imposed on players from the Multan Test against England last October to the South Africa series.

The highest fine was imposed on Aamir Jamal, who wrote "804" on his cap during a test match, amounting to approximately 1.4 million rupees.

Imran is also a former Prime Minister of the country but is in jail now. Jamal is believed to have written this number on his Test cap to show his solidarity towards him. However, the PCB fined him for violating the guidelines which involves avoiding political, religious, or racial statements on the field.

During the Australia tour, Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, and Abdullah Shafique were fined 500,000 rupees each for returning to the hotel late at night.

In the South Africa series Sufyan Muqeem, Usman Khan, Abbas Afridi, and some fast bowler were fined 200 dollars each for being two minutes late returning to the hotel at night.

However, the 200 dollars fines imposed on these players during the South Africa One Day series clean sweep were returned to them as a reward.

These are not schoolboys

Some really pathetic reasons to penalise the players at a time PCB should rather have an attractive incentives scheme to boost players morale and instil a winning mentality.

same reason Afridi was removed from captaincy. Its all politics. Fahim and Rauf are in the team due to their connections with N league

Probably explains why Aamer Jamal was snubbed for the CT as well as for the tour of NZ

What the special about 804 number? I'm curious to know about it.

There was no need for him to do such a thing.

Show your support, but atleast do it in a way that you cant be penalized.

Like writing it on your kit which is heavily regulated isnt the smartest thing to do.

Also when you give us sob stories about how you struggled, finally got a break through and knowing how the laws of your country are you pull such stunts and get removed from the team, you only hamper your own career.

Come on bro that’s very harmless. The establishment cannot make itself look so weak that someone writing a letter in his gear and without uttering a word can drive them crazy. It’s very soft. What is this the Dictator movie, off with the heads at the slightest thing the establishment doesn’t like?

Imran is a national hero to many
And to cricketers he’s an iconic player they have looked up to just like Sachin is for many in Bharat.

He's political prisoner right now. Aamer was making a political statement during a match which is wrong.

He is in trouble for showing support
He has low-iq then. Anger the current establishment and then let’s say even if IK gets released from jail, gets a mandate and becomes PM again, Jamal will be older by that point or won’t even be a important enough guy to get any benefits.
Best case scenario he might get some Sarkari naukri in PCB.

This is why I respect Misbah, never let such garbage on the field. With the beard he has I am sure he is religious too but usually keeps away when discussing or playing cricket. He might have given Pak cricket a lifeline atleast 15-20 yrs. You never saw nonsense like Gaza, Kashmir etc etc when he around. Through gentleman.

Political prisoner but still a national icon and an ex cricketer. These acts will further alienate the military dictatorship from the awaam.

You were disappointed with him on post #18. What changed in 7 minutes?

Imran Khan is a cricketing icon and one of the legends of the game. I grew up listening to stories of Imran Khan the hero of a nation and i expected a lot from him when he became the PM of Pakistan. I am an optimist so perhaps I expected too much from him that i feel disappointed with him. It is who i am as a person. Some of my dearest ones in life i have no relationship with because they hurt my feelings and betrayed me while i kept many in my life who are still strangers to me. Imran could have changed things but he let me down and for that I will never forgive him.

There should be no mercy for traitors. Your feelings are not bigger than alawa of nation.

Thing is, you cant write stuff on your kit

Basically you are allowing people to penalize you..

Yes misbah is a real gentleman. :kp

I didn’t say he should escape justice.

I’m merely defending the right of a cricketer to show solidarity with his childhood icon. If he can’t do that it’s just the worst form of dictatorship.

Aamer Jamal was born after Imran Khan had retired so how is his childhood icon?

PCB have to recover the losses they made hosting the champions trophy.

Expect more fines and cost cuttings in near future... :inti

AJ needs to look at his own career.

Whether IK gets released or not, when IK was at home he used to eat a steak and have his jog etc. So he gets to live his life.

People like AJ dont need to risk his career for other people as its not worth it.

I was born in a world establishments did not shudder at the thought a young cricketer writing a number on his cap in support of a decorated fellow countryman.

The punishments is being carried out by men of your generation

It’s ok brother you have strong opinion on this. Let’s agree to disagree. Neither of us can convince the other on this and that’s ok. I hope this young cricketer continues to do well.

Is this a real pic?
These guys start drawing political connections and isolating anyone who meets a PMLN or establishment guy.

They did this to Faheem Ashraf too. Apparently Faheem only met NS to get funding for his academy and sports set up in Kasur (his home town), but these Youths just want to hate him for the sake of it now.

This is shocking. Why the massive fine when Naqvi is giving lectures to young players as political rep and they talk about Naqvi speed( built a roofless stadium that leaked after the 1st rains) . Either depoliticise cricket entirely or stop victimising players for holding different political views.

And get selected for tournaments.

This regime doesn't have any support and each player has a conscience, whether they go with it or not is upto them. He hasn't done anything wrong and it shows how morally bankrupt this regime is that not only does it rig elections and destroy the courts, it can't even accept even low level criticism.

He cant write stuff on his kit.

Second, there is no need for him to risk his career for a politician. Not worth it. He could had played his first ICC tournament but he didnt.

Posting on the kit was wrong, posting on social media could go either way, but he should know this is Pakistan. WHen there are people out there sitting to destroy your career why risk it.

How could Nawaz give funding at that time when he had a court case against him and was on the run in UK?

Stick to cricket, politics is not your thing.

Yeah crazy. Sports people have to oblige meeting those in Power. They are neutrals

Wah? So poor lad must now suffer by just writing a number.

Aamir Jamal may not be the richest cricketer but still he should some gheirat. Wish there were more like him.

Most of this current lot is so shameless that they are willing to accept dictation of Naqvi. Rizwan for instance should have resigned before CT when he was made a puppet captain (not allowed to select playing XI). None from the selection committee (Aleem Dar, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafique) resigned after CT debacle. These guys selected Faheem Ashraf !

It seems like there is no escape from corrupt generals and ruling elite. Future is bleak.

Why did not PCB fined Faheem Ashraf when he met a political person in power??? Wasn't that political stuff as well??

PCB should keep the criteria same for everyone. a guy wrote something and he got fined but another guy met a political leader and he got selected for the tournament by jumping a whole ladder. PATHETIC

Every private and government company has rules against such things including the company you work for. And you will be fired as well if you break those rules.

And most of these rules were in place since the 60s if not earlier.

I love when adults who should know better pretend to be dumb, and pretend to they don't know rules of employment.

I agree with you in any normal scenario but Pakistan is a failed state and one of their greatest ever citizens is being mistreated. We should question why more folk are not speaking up bravely during dire straits.

Imagine how you would feel if Sachin was in a similar position.

Pakistan cricket team is in bad shape so Jamal isn’t losing out on much, PCB haven’t really utilised him well enough during the Babar/Riz regime.

It’s not employment.
They represent their nation and earned their places to do so. Supporting a national icon in the most subtle way should never be made a big deal of.

If tomorrow Congress comes to power and jails PM Modi and some cricketer wrote NaMo on his cap in solidarity he would have every right to do so.

I feel shocked when people who live in democratic countries act dumb and support these dictatorship type stupid rules.

Misbah is no gentleman.. A cunning and oppurtunistic individual without any morals.

I mean 804 can be the manufacturer label on the product number on the hat. How insecure is the establishment for punishing people for some random number on a hat.

Why not? Is he committing a crime? Are the Junta so insecure that they can't allow a legitimate protest against their evil rule. Naqvi is political, he isn't a neutral chairman, and if PK had won,Munir would have turned up to present the trophy. If you want players to be neutral then make the board a political. The fine is absolutely disgusting and shows what idiots we have in charge.

The fine itself is politically motivated, the entire PCB set-up is built on the bedrock of political deceit. You are right, and you could even justify that number could merely be highlighting the human rights which are being abused. They didn’t even have Jamal give his reasoning at a committee or something, it’s a normal practice though with these guys; to shoot first and ask questions later. Jamal is lucky he is somewhat known, otherwise they would have killed him. I don’t know but Imran Khan might be safer behind bars, it’s a dangerous/disturbing situation.

He is in violation of the playing kit rule.

What you write and wear is heavily regulated by ICC and they required boards to comply by it.

Even if Jamal makes an appeal he would lose that appeal because ICC has strict rules to wearing kits during play.

Like i said, if he wants to do such things, than might as well do it where he has a chance to get away with it legally.

Anyways, he is dumb enough to ruin his career for stupid political support.

PCB was well within its rights to do this.

So a small fine would have sufficed. But Munir and Co have sworn an oath not betray the PK constitution but can you tell me if they have faced any court Martials. Please tell

The purpose of a fine is not to be small or just for the sake of it. Its there as a negative reinforcement so that the person doesnt violate the rules and regulations again.

You cannot just go out and write on your kit. Icc regulates this.

If he feels the fine is very big, he has the right to appeal against it. I think he has 2 appeals where one goes to CAS

Like the OP discusses a 5 lakh ruppees fine of turning up to the hotel late. No one says that is too much, but the issue is why Jamal was banned which was a direct violation of ICC regulations

If anyone put NS on their shirt( not that anyone sane or moral person would) there would be no fine. Instead they would be made captain.

But this has nothing to do with the ICC.

There would be a fine

ICC has a whole rules and regulations for what you put on your kit.

Moeen ALi wasnt allowed to wear free gaza wrist bands and was banned for it by ICC.

So yes, this has everything to do with iCC.

Well let them fine him. But they didn't, it's the PCB.
PCB is well within its right to fine.

This is just like ECB banning Danish Kaneria and ICC and all other teams had to oblige.

He violated the playing kits regulations, there is no argument. Hopefully he has learned his lesson
