[REPORTS] Sarfaraz Ahmed assigned to oversee matters regarding the Pakistan Shaheens and the Pakistan Under-19 teams [Update@ Post#73]

Excuse me? Where has he shown any bitterness?
“Sarfaraz Ahmed has once again proved that he is not only a great captain but also an honest man.
‎According to Rashid Latif, when the Pakistan Shaheens squad for the Emerging Asia Cup was being finalized, Sarfaraz Ahmed was part of the selection committee. Initially, it was decided that Misbah-ul-Haq’s son, Faham-ul-Haq, would be included in the team. But Sarfaraz insisted that the spot rightfully belonged to Maaz Sadaqat.
‎He said, “I agree that Faham is a good kid and Misbah’s son, but if you want to select on merit, then Maaz Sadaqat must be chosen.” And Sarfaraz was proven right — Maaz Sadaqat justified his selection by playing a brilliant innings against India.”

You can understand why he is showing bitterness.

How has he injected Karachi politics into Pakistan cricket?
Someone selecting the likes of Anwar Ali in national team, making QG a karachi club and post stories of himself whenever something happens related to other keeprs shows the guy is full himself and injects karachi politics...

Unbelievable! At the back of my mind I knew it was something to do with Misbah!

So predictable

I like Sarfraz and its shame that Riz has no competition and will also fall away. On the other hand we have a genuine guy that went through the system and knows where the flaws in player development

U19 World Cup winner. Champions trophy winner. Rid us of the Akmal cancer that was the worst thing to happen to pakistan cricket.

Fell off towards the end of his career but so good to see him involved with the youth.

CT17 win was the best memory as a pakistan cricket fan of the last 20 years.

People forget where Pakistan White ball cricket was post 2015 World Cup, where the only memorable element of that time was an ultimately fruitless Wahab Riaz spell that marked up Shane Watson a bit.

Sarfaraz slowly built up that white ball side by grooming Hasan Ali, Shadab, Babar, Shaheen, making them mainstays, whilst also introducing Fakhar, reintroducing Amir and bedding in Imad into that side.

He’s good at developing players and being a big brother to younger players. People think his captaincy style will be analogous to his coaching style without much proof.

People who’ve played under him have never had a bad word to say about him, and in a volatile free-for-all environment like Pakistan cricket, that’s very rare.

Thus I have trust that InshAllah Sarfi will succeed in developing these boys, because that’s ultimately what his job is.

It’ll be great if he can win u19 trophies, but the ultimate goal is to give the senior setup a stock of future potential talented options to choose from.

Now they will make Sarfraz the next chief-selector/head-coach/chief cook and bottle washer, because we all know that's how PCB operates :kp

why not... he deserves buddy!

by the way not agreed on cook and washer stuff
Oh, so coaching the U-19 team to an Asia Cup suddenly makes him the new hero of Pakistan cricket? This kind of thinking is exactly why our cricket is in the dump it's in, and fans have a big role in enabling it.

I’ve got nothing against Sarfraz, I like him as a person. But at some point we really need to stop manufacturing heroes off isolated, minor successes, and focus more on building a system based on rationality and long-term decision-making.

Seems you missed the joke. 'Chief cook and bottle washer' is a figurative phrase, it means giving someone every major and minor role. My point was that the PCB has a habit of giving multiple key decision-making roles to a person who gets in their good graces, not that anyone is literally being asked to run the kitchen.

Way better choice than that Shareef yes man loser Azhar Ali. Results ultimately always speak for themselves.

They can do a lot worse than Sarfraz

For the record, I don’t actually think he should be promoted to that level quite yet.

The correct thing to do is for Sarfraz to work with the 19s and Shaheen’s for a couple of years, embed him in the system, involve him in the grassroots (and the elusive “system” we want to create) let him work with successors. When the time is right, promote him as the coach of the senior team. He would have established credentials and experience. He would also have respect from the players who he probably nurtured a couple of years before.

But as you know, this is Pakistan cricket………

Doesn’t have to be an either or situation.

Bother watching Azhar Ali’s interview that’s pinned in this forum?

IMO he brought a lot of fresh new ideas to the u19 and Shaheens set up. From a strategic perspective he’s the best man for the role, whilst Sarfy is best suited as a travelling mentor, who sets the tone in training and on match days.

They both bring their own strengths and in an ideal world would have worked side by side. However, the PCB’s inability to manage people put paid to that.

The head-coach of the U-19 team is Shahid Anwar. Why is Sarfraz getting all the credit?
Because his fan brigade is the one that supports sharjeel, amir, azam khan and every other lunatic. So the prople they support had no success, so now they are celebrating a mentors role and giving him all credit.

Coach, assistant coach and bowling coach bahar mein jai
