As per reports:

Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of PCB, stated in an informal conversation with journalists that decisions should never be made in anger. He affirmed that surgery will indeed take place and he warned against the potential harm caused by hasty decisions. He also mentioned that he is maintaining contact with former cricketers and, those ex-players whose livelihoods do not depend on speaking on TV channels, will address the issues.

The only change he'll make is appoint rizwan as captain

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced a series of stringent measures to address the national cricket team's recent poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by the USA and West Indies.

While addressing the journalists in Lahore, Naqvi emphasized accountability for the selection committee and set forth new criteria for player selection based on domestic cricket performance.

He also stated unequivocally that any member of the selection committee found to have made incorrect decisions or selections would be held accountable.

The PCB chief further declared that international players who do not participate in domestic cricket will be barred from rejoining the national team. While no decision has been made yet about replacing Babar Azam as captain, Naqvi indicated that former cricketers would be involved in the decision-making process.

He also acknowledged past mistakes and emphasized the importance of involving experienced former players in making future decisions.

Naqvi issued a stern warning to cricket fans, emphasizing that any misbehavior towards Pakistani cricketers, whether domestically or internationally, would have serious consequences.

He revealed that individuals who misbehaved with Haris Rauf had been reported to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Discussing the players' commitments to domestic cricket, Naqvi made it clear that national duty should come first. He announced that players who sought No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for participating in foreign leagues before the Test series would not be granted these permissions.

Notably, Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan have requested NOCs for the GT20 league.

Naqvi stressed that only players who meet the fitness standards will be awarded central contracts. He assured that everyone would receive their rightful share under the central contract, which will be carefully reviewed. Both domestic and international cricketers must pass fitness tests, with no exceptions.

Various fitness assessments, including the Yo-Yo test, will be mandatory.

The solution to all problems.

Just wondering, which ex cricketer is yet to be consulted by Naqvi?

Who can this be in Pakistan?

Wasim and Waqar are set up without needing to rant on tv too much. Inzi too but he still prefers to jump on the channels. Perhaps Mushtaq and Saqlain.

You go through the list of ex-players, and there is one that jumps out. Remember that Naqvi is also the interior minister.

Could it be.....

Imran released from Jail and becomes chairman PCB

Pull out $10 million and make a genuine investment in grass roots. In 12 years Pakistan will become world class again.

It was a big mistake in the first place; should have given Afridi plenty of time to adjust, make mistskes and grow.

Now, its a dilemma, with Champions Trophy 6 months away; Pak cricket team is a battered old roller coaster anyway ... now its heading for 'Oblivion'.

SSA has little in the way leadership qualities and since his own form has waned, he has no hiding place. But once given the role, he should have been kept as captain for this WC. But these clowns don't understand cricket or egos and now an already average team has been reduced to dust.

Since all appointments in the country are shady and corrupt, it would only make sense to have a convicted person like Salman Butt become the new chief selector and Salim Malik be his counsel. Would fit this country to the tee.

Why would he take a demotion from leading a cult?

Sadly Salman Butt is probably the most competent cricketing mind out of the ex players.

The former players he's talking about is Wahab Riaz. He's the golden boy these days. Every major decision is being made by Wahab.

He is a good for nothing guy just like Zaka. He doesn’t care about Pakistan cricket. He is just waiting a bit and later keep Babar. Another first round exit.in CT 25 and he will sack Kristen and keep Babar for 2026 T20 World Cup.

What a sad press conference, Mohsin Naqvi does not have the guts to do what's needed.

Keep Babar, Rizwan, Shadab, Shaheen, Iftikhar, Azam Khan and Haris Rauf away from the team, send them back to play club cricket and work on their basics.

Get rid of all these power hungry good for nothing political boys..!!

Nay. It cannot be him. He is not the one talking on tv shows and earning bread and butter from there. It can be guys like Misbah, Hafeez or Shoaib malik etc.

Wahab's livelihood does not depend on speaking on TV channels, the man has like 15 different job titles at the PCB lol

yeah. This is what Naqvi said. He will consult with those who are not sitting on TV 24/7 talking. SO wahab will be consulted for sure...

Basically Naqvi - being the politician he is - reminded about who his real master is.

He won't touch anyone who has political backing.

So, basically he is not capable of removing Babar/Shahin/Rizwan along with other seniors. At lease Zaka had courage to get rid of Babar. So it means all talk about Surgery was just a public stunt to calm dumb fans like us. He actually meant surgery to our brains as we expect to much from the team and first round exit is ok.

Sounds like our current senior players are untouchable. Even IK, Wasim, Miandad were nowhere near to these people. Looks like Mafia wants to destroyed Pakistan cricket and no one can prevent it.

This is the typical indecisiveness from a "chairman" who knows nothing about cricket and is afraid of looking stupid after he reappointed Babar just before the WC.

Using the former players line is his way of ducking responsibility.

He understands hasty decisions now. He experienced it when he made Babar captain.

Making all the changes you want, if things go well take all the accolades but don't blame others when things go pear shaped.

He is one of the rare ones with actual brains. Unfortunately the fixer tag will never leave him. That being said if PCB wants they can take good work out of him for the team.

He has no clue. You know he has no clue when you appoint Wahab as your spy in the dressing room and then he produces a report only an idiot can produce.

Anyone who actually expected 'major surgery' needs to give me whatever they were smoking.

Shaheen Afridi (allegedly) had the best reply to this: who is unwell that surgery is needed? :ROFLMAO:

Realistically, Azam Khan will be dropped and maybe Shadab will be told to go back to domestic cricket. Thats about it.

For the sake of argument: Babar Azam will probably keep the white ball captaincy purely on the basis that, if you're an outsider looking in (i.e. NOT a Pakistani cricket fan), you might say that Pakistan where actually 'competitive' in all four of their group t20 matches and the bowling (bar one match) was very good. As most captains are judged on how they control and rotate their bowlers and not on the stupidity of their batting line up, the PCB might take this stance and keep Babar on as captain, especially in light of few reasonable alternatives (the only other option realistically is Rizwan).

They tried to get him on the cricketing committee a while ago and there was too much backlash. He is a very intelligent cricketing mind, one of the better YouTube channels.

It’s Babar’s country club and he decides who gets a lifetime membership.

Are you talking about Salman ‘muscle memory’ Butt? Who believes modern cricket is un achievable in Pakistan cricket?

Is this the first step towards a well-needed and much-awaited surgery??

To be fair to Misbah, as much as I don't like him, He stopped being pro babar in 2023.

Misbah made suggestions, Babar told him off and then misbah decided to whine and cry about bobby on his podcast show.

Granted Misbah did it in a more respectful manner, he basically said Pakistan are playing against C teams so their not really no 1 ranked. And then he said babar has an eho because he doesn't listen to his seniors like myself.

Shehzad just goes off on a tangent.

But yeah Misbah hasn't been pro bobby since 2023.

Chairman PCB meets former cricketers to discuss development strategies

Chairman PCB called on former Pakistan players in Lahore to discuss player development, strategies for strengthening domestic cricket and the performance of the national team. The former players gave recommendations to improve the performance of the national cricket team. The fitness of the players and their performances in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 were also discussed.

COO, PCB Salman Naseer, Director High performance, Nadeem Khan, Director International, Usman Wahla, Director – Domestic Cricket Operations, Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Analyst Bilal Afzal and other PCB officials were also present on this occasion. The attendees of the meeting included Abdur Rauf, Aamer Malik, Asim Kamal, Azhar Khan, Azhar Mahmood, Basit Ali, Haroon Rashid, Ijaz Ahmed, Intikhab Alam, Iqbal Qasim, Mohammad Sami, Rashid Khan, Saleem Altaf, Saleem Yousuf, Salman Butt, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sadiq Mohammad, Shafiq Ahmad, Shafqat Rana, Sikander Bakht, Wajahatullah Wasti, Yasir Hameed and Yasir Shah.

In the meeting, it was agreed to improve the infrastructure of the domestic cricket including first-class matches and Under 19 tournaments. It was also mutually agreed upon that PCB should also arrange more matches in the summer season just like the winter season. Recommendations to establish academies under the PCB's watch in different cities were also floated by the former players. They raised their concerns regarding the need for improvement in the coaching field both in domestic cricket and grassroots level.

The meeting participants appreciated Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi’s initiatives for the improvement of the game in the country. Chairman PCB assured the former players that their valuable suggestions will be implemented going forward.

Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi: “The consultation with the former players will consistently take place to continue the betterment of Pakistan Cricket. The PCB will go to all lengths to uplift the standard of the game in the country.

“As many of the former players mentioned, the focus of PCB will surely be on improving the first-class game and the Under 19 tournaments. To adjust more games during the summer season in our domestic window, we are exploring venues in the northern areas like Abbottabad and Hunza.

“I do fully understand the need for bringing the quality of coaches to International standards and the PCB will take urgent measures to achieve that. We also have quality of the pitches in our mind and they will be improved as well.”

PCB chairman holds important meeting with national men's team coaching staff

Lahore, July 9 2024: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, convened a significant meeting today with the coaching staff of the Pakistan men's cricket team. Present at the meeting were white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten, red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood.

Discussions during the meeting centred around strategising for improvements in batting, bowling and fielding, with a decision to devise comprehensive plans in these areas. It was agreed that selection would be contingent upon meeting the fitness standards.

Addressing concerns about team composition, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi acknowledged the presence of talent but highlighted the need for optimal combinations. He expressed full confidence in the coaching staff's abilities and assured them of complete support in player development and coaching matters.

The meeting also saw insights shared by the coaches aimed at enhancing team performance through structured plans, which received unanimous approval from the PCB Chairman. Director International PCB, Usman Wahla, also attended the meeting.

Surgery is needed, Naqvi should be sacked . I think this is the worst humiliation , bigger than losing to USA in T20 WC.

Now Pakistan should help Nepal and Uganda get test status and play 5 test series , we need to save Babar's test average and some test wins which we can't get now even against "minnows" like BD.

Nothing but bad news coming from Pakistan coming from Pakistan, in every field.

Why not start with the pitch? If it can't be done then tell us. Tell the world why it will remain flat.

Pakistan's performance since Mohsin Naqvi became PCB chairman:

1. Got our players injured at the Kakul army camp

2. T20I draw vs NZ's D team at home

3. A T20I loss vs Ire

4. A T20I series thrasing vs Eng

5. First round exit at the T20 World Cup

6. First ever loss to Bangladesh in a Test
