Results versus performances - which do you prefer?

So a batter hits a double hundred in quick time, the team loses the Test

and

Some batter hits a quick 80 in 20 balls but he fails to take the team past the finish line.

A slow and steady innings that takes you close to the target for his teammates or him to finish the game


Ideally you would like to have both but if you had to make a choice between someone who gets the job done versus someone who can play big innings, I know who I would choose!
