Rishabh Pant v Babar Azam in Tests

2nd test century for Rishabh Pant in England.

How many does Babar have?

Oh yes, 3 test centuries in England.

How many test wicket keepers have done that from visiting nations?

Among all Asian batters ever, only Dravid (6), Tendulkar (4) & Vengsarkar (4) have more test centuries in England now than Rishabh Pant (3).

Pant is now ahead of Gavaskar, Azharuddin, Inzamam, Jayawerdne, Miandad, Kohli, Sangakkara, Younis, Abbass.

Babar Azam has a grand total 0 test centuries in England,

Babar azam tour only once in 2020....he will tour again in 2026 and 2028 then we see...

Twin test centuries for Rishabh Pant at Headingley.

He now has 4 in England, 7 in SENA.

No Indian has more test centuries in England now than Rahul Dravid (6)

Pant has been an absolute revelation in test cricket- you would never imagine a maverick like him succeeding so well in Test cricket (that too on away pitches) and failing in T20s- but there he is! Born to defy the mould. He and Bumrah are our two best assets, hopefully he goes on and on for us.

Can Pant tie his own shoelaces these days lol? :91:

Babar is yet to reach his peak. It seems the embarrassment you got in the last couple of weeks wasn't good enough? Did you like the double hundred by Kishan yesterday? Is he also unlucky to born in the Pant era or is it the other way around? :rabada2 :inti
Has Babar reached his peak yet?

Which test did he win for India in England?
Both of your terminologies are wrong, a batter cannot win Tests by himself. The right way should be that Pant's centuries haven't contributed to wins in England. For the umpteenth time, Cricket is a team sport and a player cannot win Tests by himself.

Now that is out of the way, coming back to the topic, Babar Azam cannot be compare to any active top player in the world in Tests, as doing so will be a huge disservice to the player being compared. Unless Babar at least scores 5+ Test centuries outside of Asia, he isn't anywhere close to being good in the format. Right now he has 9 Test hundreds in 59 Tests which is absolutely poor with 6 of them coming in Pakistan and 1 in UAE. So he only has 2 Test hundreds out of his home turf (Yes UAE was his home turf for a while). Pant has 8 Test hundreds in 46 Tests with 6 of them coming outside of Asia.

Indian never fail to miss any chance. Babar has nothing to do here... Pant is a wicket keeper batter who plays in lower middle order, Babar is a top-order batter.

There is no comparison here.

Compare him with Rizwan, it makes sense.

This was a fine innings against Anderson and co a while back, this kid has all the strokes, Pant reminds me a little of my dude Desean Jackson ex Eagles wide receiver, smallest guy on the field but the player the opposition fears the most.

What and who stopped you from posting this in December 2022 then? Why wait till June 2025? :inti

Comparison is wrong.

Pant should be compared to other wicket-keepers.

Babar's comparison should be with #4 from other teams - Root/ Smith/ Williamson/ Bavuma/ Gill

How will the fanboys jump up and down if they make comparsions that actually make sense...

I have posted this multiple times on different threads over the years but again no one seem to understand team sport concept. Did not notice that it was a old post, my point still stays whether it was in 2022 or in 2025.

Pakistan hardly play any test matches anywhere. Player comparisons with ENG, AUS, and Indian players shouldn’t even be a thing. They play twice as much and with each other.

Has PCB abandoned Test cricket altogether?
Pakistan has no test matches scheduled for a gap of almost one and half Year?? is PCB trying to destroy Pakistan cricket altogether. PCB seems quite satisfied with few T20's scheduled against second rate teams like Bangaldesh and Windies this year. No one seems to care, no former cricketers, no experts. Everyone is sleeping

Babar bats at 4, Pant bats at 5. Why is this not worth a comparison?

Has Babar hit the peaks already or his peak yet to comes? In few months he will be 31 year old . Usually batsman peak years are around age of 28-32 year's .
@Mamoon said 2025 is going to babar year but this year turning out to be worst for him :kp

How many of them resulted in a win???

How many times Pant threw his wicket playing a foolish shot when India needed him>??
If this is the logic than Natrajan is better than most of Pakistani bowlers because he won the test match and Series in australia.

Pakistani fans never disappointed me with Fraud logic.

:kp

o BHAI... make some sense... a guy has scored 6 centuries and based on that, you are making him greatest player and better than many.. but his 6 centuries came in loosing cause.

Do you prefer stat padders??? I guess yes

This comparison between Pant and overhyped babar and I already show the stats of both players in SENA nations.

Babar after playing 27 Test match, only score 1 century while pant played same number of test in SENA countries and score 6 Test century.

Pant is miles better than Overhyped batsman like Babar Azam .

Pant threw his wicket in tests very very less time. In fact he is one of the MOST consistent test batsmen in world cricket today and has been consistent over 5+ years now.

Most of his over 50+ scores have resulted in test wins, precious overseas tests and series wins.

Facts are against everything you claim. Nice try though

Babar is a classical batsman, opposition bowlers plan and execute them.
Pant is unpredictable, this causes a problem to opposition bowlers. Pant suddenly counter attacks and by the time you realise he would have scored well and that too at a good pace which hurts the opposition.

Both have different roles but if you just look at impact, Pant is way above Babar.

If you want a player who will be more consistent but score soft runs & disappear under pressure, Babar is your man.

If you want a player who will not always score consistently but win you Test matches out of nowhere, Pant is your man.

Mobashir what do you think?
Why do you flip flop so much? Pant is a tullaybaaz but to his credit he is good away from home unlike Travis Head for example. Cannot compare him to a pure classical batsman like Babar. I would have more respect for you if you stuck to your beliefs instead of whatever it is you do now.
