This date was chosen because over the night of 2-3 August 1944, over 2000 Roma people were murdered in the Auschwitz death factory “Gypsy compound”.

Overall, Nazi Germany murdered between 200,000 and 500,000 human souls from the Roma community.

Never forget.

We should never forget it - I was very impressed 15 or 16 years ago when I visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC that it commemorated both the Gypsy Holocaust and the Darfur conflict.

Then again, I was sickened several months ago when a politically correct mob demonised Jimmy Carr for his joke about this.

It was exactly that - a joke - and it probably did more than any other thing in the last 50 years in the UK to draw attention to the Nazi genocide against the Gypsies.

The DC Holocaust Museum is stupefying and terrifying. I went before the Darfur exhibit. Must go again one day.

I get that Jimmy Carr was trying to make a point about socially acceptable racism but he really should have qualified that, because on the face of it he just sounded full-on racist. I bet a lot of people in his own audience laughed at the Roma victims not the satire. Because plenty of Britons really hate Gypsies.

Does this involve Jewish loss off life, it surprises me how Zionists are ok with subjecting the Palestinians to similar horrors despite their history, and the best bit, the west applaud them

Bosnia
Rwanda
Cambodia
Darfur

Do we have memorial days in the West, for above genocides?

Only that most of the roma were killed by local east European nazi sympathisers collaborators whose modern day decendents in czechia , Slovakia, Poland, ukraine , Hungary etc are part of the eu.

Lived in Eastern Europe for more than half a decade and travelled as well.

Roma are treated absolutely horrendously. I've seen them being slapped, beaten abused for literally nothing, absolutely nothing. Places they live are not given proper electricity or sewage control. Its worse than animals how they are treated.

Every single Eastern European I met warned me about the Roma and I was shocked at the hate.

Roma look like me and you. Brown. And youd think they are Indian or Pakistani. Most I met were Muslims. A lot would say Salam. When I travelled and I'd stop near their towns I'd invited to the local mosque and treated really well.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked how these countries are in the EU. They treat Roma like vermin. I'd get mistaken for one by some of Eastern Europeans till I spoke and they'd realise I'm British and their attitude would change.

Eastern Europe is vastly underdeveloped and corrupt even more than Pakistan. The way they treat Roma is little more than Apartheid. They are only in the EU to wind up Russia. Nothing more.

Ah, the Z-word. Balfour’s Law in four posts, very good.

Roma are not Jewish, but were exterminated alongside them by the same dreadful regime.

Good post and disturbing to read.

As long as I can recall in my home town there was a Romani camp. They were fine. We didn’t mix with them nor they with us, but there was never a problem in terms of violence.

It's horrible Robert. One Roma told me we are not given food. Electricity. Water. Our housing is a dump. We are not allowed in regular schools. Not given jobs. How do we survive. Its atrocious stuff. I've seen videos of adults smashing a Roma child who's only crime was to say we are equal. There have been cases of people shooting them dead in rural areas for the crime of simply trespassing.

The only missing now is genocide like the Jews faced.

A lot of these Roma were slaves a couple of centuries ago. While that has stopped the attitude hasn't.

Not a single Roma I met there was anything but pleasant. In Ramadan the mosque would be full and youd see the city center full of Muslim Roma is about the only time where I've seen them tolerated.

I myself never faced racism. I've posted before about how my landlord and his family treated me like their son. But the attitudes towards the Roma are so bad It's an utter disgrace these nations are not censured over it by the EU.

India for some reason is silent when it comes to Roma people. They are Indians and should go back to their motherland. While Modi government is worried about Pak Hindus and Afghan Sikhs, they turn a blind eye to the plight of Romas.

They originated from india but when you look at them physically and culturally most are Christian and a lot look like east Europeans, Spanish Greek italians kurds iranians Afghans they look nothing like desis and the men are very stocky burly men and good hard fighters and violent

how can you repatriate people who moved thousands of years ago and mixed so much in the areas they went.

Many still have elements of Hinduism in them. Even though they may be Christians or Muslims now, they still have Hinduism elements. They still worship Shiva and Kali. Their language still has Sanskrit in it. Many words are the same. I watched a video of Indian youtuber who went through Europe and interviewed various Romas. A good chunk of them still look Indian.

Irrespective of anything, they are still Indians and should be given an option to return back to motherland. If European looking Jews can return back to Israel, then so can mixed Romas can be Indians.
Obviously Romas were raped by various people during their journey that changed their appearance.

He's confusing them with Irish travellers probably.

The Roma in Europe all look like me and you. Lived there for 6 plus years and seen it in person. A massive amount are also Muslim. Have travelled a lot in provinces where they are the a massive amount in populatio and regions full of mosques.

They deserve a homeland in my opinion

Roma brethren are still in India. They can be found in Rajasthan, Madhyapradesh and Maharashtra. They are called by various names through out India and they are all nomads.

You always make these threads either to troll or express the usual white/western lack of sympathy for the Palestinian plight as a consequence of a daily holocaust caused by the Zionists, not just this memorial day rubbish. Typical.

This is a legit thread about the genocide of Roma and the discussion will continue in its own right. We have numerous threads which discuss the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians.

Am not stopping you or anyone else continuing to spew the western/white/fascist narrative, you do you and I will continue to highlight the hypocrisy

“Western/white/fascist narrative” = memorial to genocide of Romani people ?

Explain how you came to that conclusion ?

It’s quiet simple, maybe it’s the wiring I don’t know but as far as I am aware, Romani people = Europeans = selective white grievances.

Similar to what we are seeing with Ukraine right now, Robert has reinforced my opinion by highlighting a historic selective grievance among the white population.

This isn’t anything new, it goes way back. I think we need to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, why are we like this.

I don’t see this type of sympathy for Palestinians. It’s one rule for some and another for the rest, maybe we justify this because we are happy with how the defence budget is utilised, our views it seems are mostly in line with the establishment when it suits our inherent biases.

It's pretty much universal to see this racism in Eastern Europe, and not just against Gypsies.

When England played a football match in Budapest in June, Hungary were only allowed to have kids in the crowd due to previous racist behaviour by adult fans.

And the Hungarian (child) spectators booed England when they took the knee, and booed the black players every time they received the ball.

I don't really understand why you have started to post about the Palestinians. They have been very much ignored and neglected by the rest of the Arab and Muslim world.

In Israel proper, the Israelis have done more for the quality of life for their Arab citizens than any Arab government ever has.

The occupied territories are a disgrace, but that goes back to 1948, when the Egyptians and Jordanians took Israel's military victory as a pretext to seize Gaza and the West Bank respectively.

The entire Arab world fails to provide those territories with any real support, and now the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt have all jumped into bed with Israel anyway.

I don't like what the Israelis do in the occupied territories, but the Arab and Muslim worlds need to lift their game and start helping their Palestinian cousins. It's embarrassing that currently the Israelis provide more development for the 20% of their citizens who are Arab than any Arab country does towards its own Arab population.

Ok I see where you are coming from on this.

(Although small query — aren’t the Romani originally an Asian people — effectively Indo-European — looking at them, I would not think “White”)

If we go that deep then our own origins are bound to produce interesting results. But my point surrounds the bias in favour of the European continent when it comes to stuff like this, it may be closer to home but it isn’t an excuse in this day and age when we look at the far right extremism and prejudice towards muslims in the west, people are informed enough to develop ill advised stereotypes but not not informed enough to review their biases

It’s about the horror of a genocide on European soil.

And yes, the Roma are Indo-Europeans, though many have intermarried with Caucasian people.

Bosnian Muslims also died in a genocide on European soil.

The OP will not remember the dates because MSM does not remind the masses.

Selective white grievances in the West.
