Black Caps batsman Ross Taylor has no intention of watching a replay of the Cricket World Cup final.

In an interview with The Rock, Taylor said it took him a week to get over New Zealand's heart-breaking defeat to England.

"I don't want to watch the game ever again," he said. "There were lots of emotions because the game had so many ebbs and flows — we were on top, then they were on top.

"For some guys, the result probably hasn't sunk in. I've come to terms with it, but it took a week."

Taylor also revealed that he thought the World Cup was going to be shared after New Zealand and England finished with the same amount of runs.

"I had no idea it went to a super over. I walked up to the umpires to shake their hands, but they said it was super over," he said.

"The amount of ODI cricket I've played, I've never played a super over that usually for T20 cricket.

"If it rained for two days, it was going to be shared, so I was along those lines of thinking, but it wasn't meant to be."

To help him get over the result, Taylor said he travelled to Paris with his family. But even there, in a country where cricket is not popular, he was unable to escape the final.

"The family and I went to France, so it was nice to get away for a week, but we were outside the Eiffel Tower with the kids, and people were coming up and saying what a fantastic game it was," he said.

"I couldn't get away from it. It would have been nice to say world champions, but I'm proud of the team the way they went about it, and the support from the New Zealand public was amazing."

Thats down to his own negligence. I remember reading it hearing about a super over a few days before the final.

These professionals really have to be more clued in.

Most didn't know there would be a super over because ties are so rare in ODIs and even then no one knows what happens after that in KO ODI game because it's never happened before...

I have a profession, as does Ross Taylor, if I did not know the basics of my profession, I would be negligent in my job.

Taylor is not most people, he is a 13 year international pro and one of the most senior players of his side. It's like making excuses for Shaun POllock in 2003.

If he didn't know about the superover then he doesn't deserve to win because even the most casual fans know that when scores are tied then a super over is played and this rule has been in place since the past world cup and was introduced almost 10 years ago in T20s.

If you don't know the rules then you just lack awareness and that isn't a good look for a veteran like Taylor.

It is shocking to say the least. He should have known. At least he could have asked umpires when match was becoming close.

To be fair to him, this is probably the first time an ODI match has gone to a super over. Previous instances have ended in a tie, such as; Pakistan v West Indies and England V Sri Lanka.

Super over for a 50 overs game is not ideal. For a t20 it is acceptable. There shud be atleast a 5-10 overs sprint to break the tie could be acceptable.

ICC should look into the rules again. Or cancel the super over for 50 overs game and share the trophy.

This is an even better point and one that I forgot - super overs were decdied as a way of breaking an ODI tie going back to 2011 CWC, then agains in 2015 and now. If Taylor, a 13 year pro doesnt know this then he is simply negligent.
