Worcestershire’s Ross Whiteley hit six sixes in an over on Sunday to join a select group who’ve performed the feat in senior cricket.

Whiteley struck Yorkshire left-arm spinner Karl Carver for six sixes during the 16th over of Worcestershire’s innings in an English Twenty20 match at Headingley.

But Worcestershire lost by 37 runs after Yorkshire’s David Willey made a career-best 118.

West Indies great Garry Sobers was the first batsman to hit six sixes in an over in first-class cricket when, playing for Nottinghamshire, he performed the feat against Glamorgan’s Malcolm Nash in a County Championship match at Swansea in 1968.

Only three other cricketers have hit six sixes in an over after Sobers’ feat. Ravi Shastri was the other batsman to have achieved this feat when he hit six sixes in one over of Tilak Raj in a Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Baroda in 1985.

Yuvraj Singh was the first to achieve it in a Twenty20 international when he hammered Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over in the 2007 World T20 against England in Durban. South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs also achieved the feat of hitting six sixes in an over when he destroyed Dan van Bunge in the 2007 World Cup clash between South Africa and Netherlands.

England has so much superpower talent coming through its unbelievable. If they don't win the next World Cup then they should stop playing cricket altogether.

Oh man it's cricket no F1 racing where your turbo charged approach could win you matches skill and adaptability is still name of the game and we saw proof of that when one of the most swashbuckling hitter stokes couldn't hit a damn four in 65 balls. So unless they grow some nerves of steel and adapt to the situation they aren't winning the world cup. At best they will make semis with this approach.

English players lack adaptability. They do well on flat tracks but on slow wickets they struggled. Although the next world cup is in English turf.

Agreed but considering the next WC is on their home soil, they should be able to adapt to most pitches. Warna lanat he hai

Whilst of course there will always be home advantage, the fact it is the ICC who prepares the pitches means the advantage is reduced somewhat.

Bangladeshi batsman Naeem Islam did it in DPL some 7 years back before the tournament was given recognition by ICC

This guy is actually a very clean striker of the ball.

He has hit huge 6s in the county game. He is one of the best power hitters in the domestic England game and should definitely be in the England 20/20 side.

Looked like he was going to go for 6 sixes today.

What an awful bowling performance.
