Excellent gesture and nice of these people to be mentioned at the ceremony, although special ceremony needs to be held later.

Wait Afridi?????????
Why??????????
Does have the record for most golden ducks or something

Afridi was not given any cash prize after hitting then world record 37 ball 100 in 1996 against Sri lanka, neither he was given any cash award for 141 against India in Madras Test 1999. Total value at that time for both matches should have been around 15-20 lakh, 20 years on based on current inflation rate he has been compensated that due or pending money. Justice done.

One question - Is this taxpayers' money or not?

It's been paid by the government so yes.

Whilst it may seem like a lot, at least these guys did something to deserve it (although to be honest, the only thing Wahab and Shehzad did is almost secure our early exit). Many billions of rupees have ended up in the back pockets of Nawaz and Zardari, enough to make them multi-billionaires in £s and $s. £75k each for a handful of players who beat the world to bring happiness to an entire nation - seems worth it to me.

One question - Is this taxpayers' money or not?

of course. Every government thinks tax payers money is baap ka maal and spend it without consideration. I hope next government take all this money back from all these cricketers and other supporting staff.

What did Afridi do for the ODI, Test and T20 team to earn such prize. Also the bigger question is why wasting money like this, that's 30 million rupees being given to players that already have enough for themselves and their family. Why not give this to Edhi foundation and some other charity

prize money is good. remeber they on National duty which is above every other duty.

Legendary batsman Inzamam -ul-Haq was also given ten million rupees for his contribution as the Chief Selector of the national squad.

Good stuff. Inzamam has had a huge role to play in us getting to the #1 ranking in tests and winning the CT.

I am sure Sharjeel and Mohd Asif are kicking themselves. Sharjeel was definitely a #1 choice.

If Inzi gets 10 million as a selector (for selecting Wahab,Shezi,UAkmal)then Mickey should also get 10 million as well.He was the main architect of our win in CT17.But maybe Inzi is a Pakistani and Arthur is a non-Pakistani ala Azhar Mehmood type.

The PCB were going on about having some sort of farewell ceremony for YK, Misbah & Boom Boom. I guess they saw this has a good opportunity to kill two birds with one stone and to tie the farewell ceremony in with the CT victory celebration.

Kher - All three are legends of Pakistani cricket. All three contributed hugely to Pakistan's success over the years in all three formats. All three have always had a huge fan following in and out of Pakistan. All three have been great ambassadors for the game & for the country. Unfortunately all three also play for a group of fans who at times can be the most selfish, biased and ungrateful bunch of fans in any sport, so all three have had to put up with their fair share of BS from the 'fans' and from the board over the years.

A nice lil bonus for three guys who will be looking to a long retirement ahead and have done a lot for this nation. I can think of many worse (and for the record many better) ways in which Pakistanis tax payer money has been spent over the years.

We go on and on about how our players get paid peanuts compared to other sports stars around the world, how our players don't get to benefit from the financial gains of the IPL, how their is no players association in Pakistan to look out for the players after they retire etc. However, now that the players are being financially rewarded for playing well and are being looked out for post retirement, everyone seems to realise that tax payer money is being used.

Strange.

Please remind me who pays for state pension in countries like the UK?

Is the value of rupees has gone down considerably? Otherwise it's too much.

It was NS's personal money or from tax money ? Very upsetting , public money given to professional players. Many professionals, including doctors save lives on daily basis but never expect price money from the government for their work. Why Misbah and Afridi ???

Can anyone give me example in any other civilized country's government, anywhere in the world giving tax money to the player for winning a cup.

Swimmer Micheal Phelps won world record of gold medals in olympics and had to pay tax on the value of those medals he won for USA and made us all proud here. Not just him, all the medal winners had to pat tax on their medals value in dollars.

prize money is good. remember they on National duty which is above every other duty.

They are paid for "national duty" why paying extra money for doing their job, winning a cup. In that case should we get back the money they were paid after Misbah's disaster tour of New Zealand and Australia.

I agree that YK and Misbah have been treated unfairly by fans :broad

And yeah, Misbah and Younis Khan deserve the reward of 10 million rupees, it's not much when you look at what they've contributed to Pakistan cricket and our players are generally the worst paid compared to other countries so am happy they have been given this bonus as a retirement gift

There goes the why - killing two birds with one stone sounds good but I'm sure other ex-cricketers will be a bit bitter: Razzaq, MoYo, etc to name a few.

The sums involved in this are not proportional at all. Pakistan is a country where I'm sure quite literally millions of people who struggle on a daily basis would have preferred the money to be spent on welfare services than given to professional sportsmen, no matter how much joy the CT win brought to them.

What this gesture has done is frankly highlighted why we're a third world country in the first place.

I guess the money will stop any of the three from moaning about a farewell match not being given to them.

every Good compa y pays its employees bonuses if they achieve a target beyong expectations.

Nonsense.

These people are entertainers. Real heroes are security forces or people who can truly help save lives of other people.

No they aren't mere entertainers. Yes they are a matter of national pride but I will believe they aren't the biggest heroes in any country.
