Sad day when Pakistan has medium-pacers opening the bowling

Yamin and Rumman running in and bowling at 130kph is disheartening....

This reminds me of the days of Anwar Ali.
 
These same guys will be unplayable on our atrocious QEA wickets back home.
 
Averaging around 125kph these two.
 
Utterly embarassing. To think these guys were hyped as future ATG allrounders. Hilarious.

Good grief that's terrifying.

Hope someone shows this to Sethi and Haroon Rasheed - neither of whom think QEA pitches are a problem and just need "time to settle" after being "relaid".

Inzi selected only 3 pacers for NZ tour :facepalm: 1 is injured and 1 is rested so you can see results of Inzi's pathetic selections today
 
No Muhammad Amir.

No Hasan Ali.

No Junaid Khan.

No Usman Shenwari.

Criticism for the sake is sad. Rumman and Yamin would be on the bench for most matches if everyone is fit and available.

There are three front-line fast-bowlers in the squad.

Do you think that is enough for a series of 5 ODIs in NZ?

No other pacers in Pakistan who could have been selected?

Is that not what the job of the selection committee is; to find adequate replacements?

Don't really see any stand out performers in-terms of pace bowlers. Rumman was picked for his T20 performances and fast-tracked into the ODI team on a pitch tailor-made for him. Amir, Hasan and Junaid complemented by Faheem/Imad and Shadab is the best bowling line-up we can put out right now.

Take out three main bowlers from any line-up in the world, they will look ordinary.

It's not about looking ordinary. I wouldn't mind if a couple of (performing) domestic pacers were sent and they failed.

But the fact is that this squad has THREE front-line pacers. No excuse for that.

38-year-old Aizaz Cheema was the top wicket-taker with 60 wickets at an average of 9.62.

Nothing more needs to be said, really.

Rumman is not a front-line pacer. Junaid's absence has made a difference, even though majority here will not agree. Very under-rated bowler. We need a smart bowler like him on the bench as back-up.

the main point is Inzi screwed up by selecting only 3 pacers for this tour; the real culprit is Inzi; do you agree?

Not too sure about that. I'm all for giving young players a go, but there are no stand-out pacers in domestic cricket right now. International class. If you're saying he should have selected Irfan or Wahab, then no thanks.
 
Ok to give Yamin a match but why this joke of a bowler Rumman is keep playing.
 
Take out 4/5 frontline bowlers from any side and they will struggle to get 11 men on the field.

I still don’t understand how that’s happening. Are the pitches extremely bad or the batsmen terrible?
 
Its an experimental lineup .
No specialist bowler playing the game .
Calm down.

This series was an opportunity to blood a young quickie or two though.

I refused to believe that Pakistan dont have young good pacers in domestic
 
Hopefully the PSL franchises will help us unearth some good talented fast bowlers.

This thread is about medium pacers opening the bowling.

NZ hit 52 in the first six overs.

The 'pacers' were barely hitting 130kph.

Which of these points aren't valid?

We can all see that spinners have bowled well in the middle overs but that's a separate topic.
 
Lol Philander bowls at 125-130 km/hr. Amir is bowling at 139-140 km/hr. Pace isn't everything.
 
Both the bowlers are getting hammered as well today. Unfortunately, cutters and slower ones do on work on these pitches in NZ. I am sure Rumman will be great in UAE and subcontinent conditions.

He looked a different bowler in those conditions. He was even swinging the ball in the UAE and i saw him touch 142 km/hr.

You are complaining about medium pacers opening the bowling today, knowing very well that we have Hasan and Amir, who clock 140+ easily and are simply dropped to make way for the bench strength to be tested today and at the same time, management might be sending a message to everyone to perform or get dropped, no matter who you are. This series is lost already and who cares whether this is 4-1 or 5-0. We should try as many players as possible in these dead rubbers and continue to look for awesome players like Hasan, Shadad, Fakhar and Faheem. I loved the team selection and fully support these changes today.

bowled well today.. was expecting a total of 350 the kind of start nzl got.. now over to the baysmen to salvage some pride..
 
This is why I hate it when people are constantly hyping up someone that has not been selected and demean the players who are playing. For so long all I read on PP is YAMIN, HARRIS,YAMIN,HARRIS,YAMIN, HARRIS.

This is the Yamin we were begging for?!?! How is this an improvement to anything that Pakistan already has?

The answer isn't to just throw in anyone and hope they come good!

No one rates Yamin's bowling, I think he actually did well to not concede more.

Rumman has just been really poor all series and his pace has been down as well though he's been better at the death.

It would've been good to have at least one proper pacer with the squad and it doesn't have to be a Sohail Khan or a Mohammad Irfan.

If Shinwari and Junaid were injured, the selectors and management should have ensured there were adequate replacements in the squad. What are bowlers toiling away in domestic cricket for? For 5'8 125kph Yamin to come and open the bowling in NZ? No offence to him, and I like him as a batsman but he's not a good bowler.

By the way, Amir hasn't done anything with the new ball and has actually received a lot more criticism than the rest. Whereas Hasan is still not completely as ease with it. So the new ball is a problem right now.

I must have said this 10 times today.... Who hyped his bowling? :facepalm:

Everyone knows he is short and he has no pace. Very little upside to his bowling. It's the batting that people rate.

I'm pretty sure Wasim Akram of all people hyped his bowling.
 
Bowled well today, swung the ball, were accurate hitting the toes of the batsmen [yorkers] at ease. Performed better than the bowlers who bowled 140 clicks without a plan or full,letting De Granhomme hit them out of the park with the same speed.
 
Yamin would probably have bowled better had he got at least 3 matches in this series. Can't...I repeat...can't judge a player's ability by one match. Stop going gaga over players hitting 140 and start respecting bowlers who bowl smart. Every single medium pacer has outperformed Amir on this tour, no two ways about it.
 
Rumman is the highest wicket taker now from Pakistan. Not bad.

Rumman is a good bowler, just that he needs to be used more in the middle and later part of the innings. He is not a new ball bowler.
 
I think our U19 opening attack today was quicker than the international teams.

An embarrassment to our pace legacy.
 
Yeah...I mean I thought in general Pakistani selectors,captians,team management pretty much everyone involved loved pace due to which even likes of Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz were persisted with despite under performing. more than surprise from watching the bowlers,I am actually baffled that these type of 125k bowlers were selected to begin with.
 
Ferguson delivery to remove Nawaz was 148.9 kph!
 
I sort of felt a bit sad really seeing the opening bowlers struggling to reach 130kph.

Definitely not the Pakistani way.
 
what is even the fault of Sohail Khan? He is younger than Hafeez and Malik. He has the best new ball bowling skills in Pakistan and is great with reverse swing too. Works exceptionally hard and shows 100 percent commitment with bat and ball. I'm sure he could do a fine job in the 2019 wc.

I wasn't to bothered. It was a dead rubber and they had to try out players in the bench. A bowler like Yamin would definately have been useful in England. Yamin was getting the ball to swing with the new ball but his lack of pace was a real problem. But he and Fahim Ashraf can both play the Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood role in the ODI and T-20 format.

Sohail Khan's fitness is a problem and his late spells. At the very best he is just an ODI and T-20 option. Can't be relied upon in test matches.

I know, it saddens me as well and probably all who grew up watching Imran, Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib ripping through opposition batting lineups. Even when they were getting hit by the batsmen, the chances of them getting a wicket at any ball seemed higher, plus it was just more fun and exciting to watch.

They must have inspired a whole generation of youngsters into becoming fast bowlers. Surprised at what has happened. I feel our selectors are missing out on the talent. In the golden days, Imran would just pluck players out of no where and would groom them into world class pacers. Nowadays, selectors are looking at the domestic first class cricket players or PSL players and may be missing out on the "diamond in the rough" talent.

Also, the game of cricket has changed a lot since then. With T20's emergence, bowlers don't need to be very fast to be effective, just develop a lot of variation. Fast balling in general has become a dying art. Even then, I was expecting Pakistan out of all other cricketing nations to stay as the premium fast bowling nation with the amount of talent we had in the past. Sadly, that isn't the case anymore.
