Very odd to note that the Afghans have developed some sort of negative feeling towards Pakistan cricket over the years.

We saw this during the Asia Cup match in Abu Dhabi where the supporters were hostile towards Pakistan side and now we have the Afghan interim CEO making some really childish statements about the whole issue.

====

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Asadullah Khan has suggested that Pakistan can take help from them to improve their cricket.

The interim Afghan cricket boss made tall claims of being far better than Pakistan in cricket currently, despite being at the bottom of the points table during the World Cup.

“We are currently far better than Pakistan in cricket and they should ask us for technical, coaching and more support for the betterment of their cricket,” Asadullah has been quoted saying.

On the other hand, Pakistan have also put up a flop show so far in the mega cricketing event, securing just three points in five matches.

Afghanistan got the better of the World Cup 1992 champions in a warm-up game at Bristol, where they registered a win by three wickets.

The two teams will take on each other on Saturday, June 29 at Headingly, Leeds. While Pakistan will play against South Africa on Sunday, June 23 in London.

Hope Shaheen knocks out Zazai's middle stump.
But looking at Zazai's club level batting he might not even get selected.

Pakistan has rich cricket history
World Cup 1992, T20 World Cup 2009, ICC Test Mace 1988/2016, ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
Australasia Cups 1986,90,94 and Nehru Cup 1989.

Plus Home Away Test Series wins in many countries. Including unbeaten in Test series at home from 1980-1995.
We as a nation should not get into any kind of argument with a non- cricket entity Afghanistan. They will want to pick up an argument to get some social media publicity. We have self respect and cricket pedigree, our level is not to argue with Afghanistan.

Should thrash them tomorrow to shut them up. Their heads are too big for a minnow.

That was a complete cringeworthy statement by the ACB CEO that defies and human logic.

What rivalry??

Pakistanis don't see afghanis as their rivals. It's the afghanis who are trying to make a rivalry out of nothing.

They're just not on our level yet.

They even said "our spin bowling is better than India's" . I think it is a way psyching themselves up

It’s sad considering that they got a lot of assistance from the pcb at a time when most boards didn’t even give them a second of thought

wow...can't believe CEO really said that...???:....what the microwave....:)...he's talking thru his hat....pak will sozzle afg....ssA looks to be awesome...and should do the trick

That fake ego and insulting gestures from Zarzai in the warm up match were pretty disappointing to see. Shaheen is a young guy hopefully he can come back hard towards Afghans.

Let me be very clear. This is not cricket rivalry.

Afghanistan is not on our level in anything.

Nothing team, nothing country but with the arrogance that's hilarious.

Nothing would please me more than to see us absolutely destroy them tomorrow. For a team that is a minnow, their heads are too big. We need to bring them crashing back down again. They are a nothing team.

Hope Shaheen knocks out Zazai's middle stump.
But looking at Zazai's club level batting he might not even get selected.

I dont know why but i read that as "Hopefully Shaheen knocks the Zazai out of Hazratullah's name" :))

At risk of sound a tad arrogant or poking my nose in but as an indian neutral...i want half of whatever CEO is smoking......:).....gee whiz ....what a loose statement

afghanistan historically have always been against pakistan so i dont see this as "news" ... even on serious political front, they have jokers like this current CEO mocking around and the issues on the duraid line have always been spicy .... i dont expect anything less than this from them ... but we shld put them in their place tomorrow... most of these players lived and ate in camps that pak set up to keep them safe when they were being bombarded left right and centre ... disappinting to say the least

As an indian...absolutely cringeworthy vdo....and those onloookers...pathetic....those comments donot reflect every indian;s,,,,sick of this baaap beta rubbish....and this one upmanship...cmon my fellow indians rise above this....the sport is much richer and classier than this garbage....appreciate others efforts...good luck to pak....

Nothing to worry about! they are out of the WC and making these kind of comments doesnt make sense. This is what I would call minnow mentality.

Surely he was just trolling? I mean no one can seriously make such a statement and believe it.

Rivalry, what rivalry ? Some nasty comments from ACB officials doesn't raise their team status. They are not worth having a rivalry with. They are low level minnows and we just beat teams like England, NZL and SA.

Its a one sided rivalry.
We have nothing against Afghanistan. It is them who make stupid OTT statements to get a reaction out of us and let me tell you that they are no wellwishers or friends of Indians either. They have proven that they are not loyal after everything Pakistan as a state and as a board has done for them. They side with India merely to instigate Pakistan even though i have no idea what has gotten their knickers in a twist in the first place.

But they will turn their backs on India as well if they feel the need to faster than India can say 'brotherhood' and thats how they have proven themselves to be.

If this was not said in jest, then it seems the Afghan CEO have a lower IQ than their net run rate.

The Interim CEO should take a leaf out of his country's president's book

Nothing but chest thumping from AFG

Pak v AFG has no rivalry its the same like Argentina vs DR Congo or Germany vs Tahiti or AC Milan v Siena or Arsenal v Exeter or Liverpool v Rushden & Diamonds or Real Madrid v Compostela

LOL meme worthy stuff.

Not sure why Afghan and Bangladesh players, fans, support staff etc try to create a rivalry with Pakistan. We do not have any rivalry with you guys. We only have one rival and that is India.

Not surprised by the rhetoric and trash coming from their side.
India have been 'grooming' Afghanistan for quite a while.
Majority of the Afghan Government and civil service is educated in Indian Universities, Afghanistan have their cricketing base in India etc. etc.
Afghans blame Pakistan for the state of their country and have no appreciation for Pakistan whatsoever.

In the warm up match we experimented and bowled Shadab in the 2nd last over. As for Asia Cup I would say beating them would be better than tieing with them which your team managed. Also you were running mouth that after SA win Pak fans will come down to earth after defeat to NZ. What happened?

We rest entire first choice elven in that match but why don't you remember that

What about the close match vs them just last week or something??

Were you resting your entire first choice eleven then???
Nah. You weren't

In years to come, Pak-Afg rivalry will be epic, sort of Aus-Eng and Ind-Pak. It’s a little too soon but Afg team knows who will be their main rival.

India has moved on to build rivalry with Australia.

Lol no.
Afg will be minnows for quite a few more years. If anything it will be a pak-bd rivalry

Its good for the game. It does not matter whether Pak respects Afghans as Rivals, but the shots have been fired from Afghan side. Time to walk the talk.

Afghanistan has done a mistake by sending back Shehzad. He and Zazai were doing better than the combinations they have tried since.

Afghanistan should play Zazai. If he clicks, Afghans will score enough runs to trouble Pak like they did in the warm up.

Will be lol'ing the whole game through when Fakhar smashes a double-hundred. Oh wait... I"ll probably be sleeping through this game because it's not worth waking up to watch!

Oh man, This video made me cringe.

I let go of tickets for the Afghan game. I wish I had bought them, would have gone to the ground and sorted these moronic fans out myself.

THERE IS NO RIVALRY. Seems Bangla and Afghan fans are desperate to have a rivalry and they think political differences is how sports rivalries are built.

Sports rivalries are built based on events/controversies and close encounters that happen on the field.

India and Pakistan just happen to be a different one because both countries were at constant cold war and that is receipe for a rivalry in any sport. We had a rivalry in hockey too. Everywhere basically. We are not at war with Afghanistan or Bangladesh, they might have resentment about some past events but we have no ill feelings towards them. We just don't care basically, so we will never feel ignited for a bilateral against them.

After India Pakistan, the best rivalry Pakistan has is with England. It is an absolute treat to watch test cricket in England when Pakistan come around. For many english fans, Pakistan is the most fun opposition for them after Australia.

There is a long history of test cricket/controversies over the decades (ball tempering aka reverse swing/ kidnapping of Pakistani umpire, the list is long etc) that has built this chemistry you experience in an England vs Pakistan game.

Afghan team will find one too but they have to improve there game first and be humble, CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, be humble!

I don't think anyone is worried about tomorrow's match (from a Pakistan perspective), it's Bangladesh that we should be worried about.

They are our brothers in faith and sometime it is OK to let them get a bit excited before the reality kicks in.

Afghanistan is a rising cricket nation and we should support them, the players may talk big but who wants to go into a match and say we are going to get thrashed. All this hatred against Afghanistan is unnecessary.

Pak defeated the fancied Kiwis, favourites England and RSA. Afghanistan can be beaten by any second rate side like a Scotland or even UAE on their day. Irrespective of faith your brothers are only ones that care about you unlike these ungrateful Afghans who blame Pak for everything happening in their war zone of a country. Nothing new here to see the Afghans kissing the back sides of India like they do off all countries. I can't stand them, no apologies no nothing. They are no brothers of mine and neither can Iranians stand them. Indians are more then welcome to them.

Not sure why Afghan and Bangladesh players, fans, support staff etc try to create a rivalry with Pakistan. We do not have any rivalry with you guys. We only have one rival and that is India.

There is no rivalry between Pak-BD but Pak-BD is more competitive these days

Their chairman said Afghanistan can teach cricket to Pakistan. Their fans hold the same views. Even their players said last time in Asia cup that the team they want to beat most badly is Pakistan. There is hatred from their side.

Pak defeated England. I was LMAO seeing what England were doing to Afghanistan when they played!!:))):))) I never support them at all not even against India.

This is the same Afghanistan that learned its entire cricket from Pakistan. I said this a while ago and I will repeat it, I Pakistan are turned on, they will batter and humiliate this sham of a team.

No rivalry between Bangladesh and Pakistan and no one claimed it. Mustafiz looks up to Amir and took upon bowling after watching his Idol.

Yes it did. There were provocations from the Afghan camp even before the game day. It is irrational hatred from their side towards Pakistan team. Probably because they wanna show friendship towards India which keeps pumping the Afghan tires. Even their coach made controversial statements that moving their base out of Pakistan in India has helped them get better. They leave no chance to insult Pakistan.

Understandable, Pakistan is rich cricketing nation and players should keep politics aside. Afghan players needs to be humble, last match Nabi flipped off towards the crowd.

I looked at those comments from the CEO for a few moments. I smiled and moved on.

This is what happens when you involve your sport in politics and think you've made the big time when Pakistan's biggest rival helps you out.

I guess the practice game didn't help this statement either. It is truly cringe.

I am not interested in a rivalry with Afghanistan. I don't see anyone. They have made progress but have a long way to go before they are seen as a serious threat to the better teams.

I hop its not a use surface tomorrow. Flat wicket or a green maumba will favor us big time.

Actually BD has thrashed Pak in last 5 games. So BD is actually ahead of Pakistan recently.

lol
we have won an ICC trophy recently whixh Bangladesh probably will never win.. at least in the next 10 years or so

:)))

How many times do people have to mention this???
Is that the only thing bd have over pak???
Btw it was 4 odis not 5. So factually incorrect.

3 were in 2015 FGS. Take it out of your mind. Forget it. It's been 4 YEARS.

Afghanistan has to beat Pakistan multiple times to create a cricket rivalry. Otherwise it is just a political rivalry and Pakistan players dont indulge in political rivalry.

The only players in the Pak side remaining from that 2015 series are Hafeez, Haris and Wahab, but if it helps the BD fans soothe their anxiety of the upcoming match they can keep counting that series to get confidence.

Looks like some people in Afghanistan cricket are trying to start something that is not even there... lol

Chalo koi nahi. They beat us in a practice game so let them brag. They can continue to brag if they beat us tomorrow...

I think wahab a better and fitter player now even with his current age..

Haris is on a high, amazing what confidence does to you.

Hafeez is hafeez..

You know what certain individuals are also accountable beyond the politicians, we have seen folk on here post like extremists to create heat between pak and afg

I don't know why fans from Muslim countries fight with each other over cricket. It is just a sport.

ACB is trying to please BCCI at the expense of good relation with PCB, although I don;t think BCCI asked them to behave like this .

Look at the Sri Lanka cricket board and cricketers, such nice, friendly people and their attitude towards Pakistan is so warm and positive even though they were attacked by terrorists in Lahore.

Compare them to Bangladesh's attitude towards Pakistan which is very hostile for no reason at all. The main reason that BD became a test nation when it did is because of Pakistan's support but there is no appreciation. It seems that they are stuck in 1971 when none of the cricketers were even born.

Let's take a look at Afghanistan. The majority of their cricketers learnt in Pakistan and used Pakistan's facilities. Pakistan even sent coaches like Aqib Javed, Inzi, Kabir Khan, etc. to Afghanistan. Pakistan has housed and fed millions of Afghan refugees for countless years at a cost of billions. Any thanks? No, on the contrary, Afghans take every opportunity to put down Pakistan. This is apart from the fact that they have brought guns, smuggling, drugs and terrorism to Pakistan.

Very well said bro. You need to post more often.

Afghanistan threw all these tantrums, but if anything they're destroying Pakistan.
