Four members of the victorious India team have been named in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament.

Player of the Tournament Sanju Samson leads the winning quartet, after the opener’s 321 runs from just five innings. Samson started the tournament outside of the Indian XI but shone with Player of the Match performances against the West Indies and England before making the highest individual score in a Men’s T20 World Cup final with 89 against New Zealand on Sunday.

He is joined by teammates Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah as India’s impressive victory on home soil is recognised.

Kishan hit 317 runs – the fourth most of any player – as his performances across the top of the order anchored India’s batting performances with a huge strike rate of 193.29.

He produced a masterful 77 as an opener against Pakistan before adjusting to number three with important knocks against England and New Zealand, including a half-century in the final.

Pandya is the third Indian batter included, with the all-rounder recognised for his contribution with bat and ball. Pandya scored two half-centuries with the bat and produced devastating spells when it mattered, including 52 off 28 against Namibia, while he also took nine wickets in all.

Bumrah is the fourth Indian player in the team, with the Player of the Match in the final recognised for his excellent bowling performances. Bumrah finished as the tournament’s joint-leading wicket taker, with 14 from eight matches. He finished with figures of four for 15 in the final and posted an economy of 6.21 throughout the tournament.

The top of the order also includes Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, who finished as the tournament's top run-scorer with an aggregate of 383. That came at an average of 76.60 and was headlined by a pair of centuries, against Sri Lanka and Namibia.

Aiden Markram is one of two South Africans included in the side, with the Proteas captain scoring 286 – including three half-centuries - as his side reached the semi-finals.

Compatriot Lungi Ngidi is also included, as he took 12 wickets at an average of 15.58. He took four wickets against Canada and three against both Afghanistan and the West Indies but also impressed with a miserly spell against India that yielded just 15 runs from four overs.

England’s Will Jacks slots into the middle order thanks to his brilliant displays as an all-rounder as his side reached the last four. Jacks regularly produced crucial performances to guide England home, including a crucial unbeaten 32 off 18 balls and two for 23 against New Zealand that earned him one of four Player of the Match awards. Teammate Adil Rashid joins him in the side, after the spinner took 13 wickets at 14.15.

The West Indies’ Jason Holder earns his place in the side thanks to strong performances with bat and ball. Holder took three wickets against Scotland and four against Nepal before stepping up with the bat in the Super Eights.

The team is rounded out by Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani, who was key to his side’s stunning group stage performances. Muzarabani took four for 17 as Zimbabwe beat Australia and finished the group stage with nine wickets.

The team’s 12th player is Shadley van Schalkwyk, who took 13 wickets for the USA at a rate of just 6.84 and economy of 6.80.

ICC more sensible than Cricinfo

How badly Cricinfo has fallen recently

Have become a complete lapdog of India with Cricbuzz

I knew cricinfo was compromised years ago when iirc some random chaddi t20 domestic Indian game was placed higher on the news section than the great West Indies game vs the Asian Tigers Sri Lanka. If not those 2 teams it was another team with similar iconic status.

Such disrespect.

Have they been bought out, or are they just simply focusing on the audience that generates the most views and revenue?

Lol what a low standard...in their own parlance "Chapri" standard

They are compromised that’s all I know.

If some Indian scores a century they will write what seems like poems, praises to no end, entire biography of what food he likes and doesn’t like, where he met his wife etc

If a Pakistani or West Indian or a heroic Zimbabwean scores a century they mention at the end of the article hidden somewhere, before linking some Indian taking 3 catches and what his fav movies are.

Such disrespect to the pioneers and stalwarts of the Golden Generation.

ICC picked based on quota without context. Many criticized Farhan's century as well as he took like 7 or 8 balls to get to 100 which may have cost a few runs against Srilanka. Not that it matters.

4 tailenders? lol Terrible team. Modern day T20 team needs 8 batsmen.

Shivam Dube literally delivered in every single match with bat. Axar patel was outstanding too in all 3 departments.

It’s traffi-conomics. Most of Cricinfo’s readers are Indian, so Indian stories get essays while others get footnotes. But espn still has decent coverage of cricket world wide.

Ex Pak cricketers on their channels also talk mostly about India for the views. Easier money with so many viewers in India.

PCB and Pakistani fans like @Rana @shah9425 @Suleiman Demanded Sahibzada Farhan place in ICC World T20 team otherwise they may Boycott Next World Cup if Ignored , ICC succumbed to Pakistan pressure , and include him.

Great victory for pakistan and its fan's. . Jashan ki Taiyaari karo mittar ab. .....

:klopp :kp
He was top scorer despite playing 3 less matches

So yes he deserved the place

You have 3 main options:

1. Clear your cookies, stop viewing Indian cricket news, and set your country (oops, I remember you said you don’t have one anymore, so pick one). It will give you that news first.
By default, it’ll show you information based on your cookies, so if you view India news then it’ll prioritize India news for you.

2. Find another cricket website, say Cricbuzz … but then again that’s Indian too.

3. Build another website - pakinfo? Slindiesinfo? Bangpakinfo? You decide.

Bonus option:

4. Find a different sport to follow - cricket is too traumatic anyway.

#3 would be the best option for those who are sick of ESPNCricinfo.

While Farhan scored runs, I don’t think his strike rate is that good.
Can someone post the strike rate of Farhan in this Worldcup.

ICC once again showing its bias towards Farhan with Man of the Tournament snub... He deserved it more, I think.

But anyways, these awards mean nothing.. Team lost badly so what is the use... Chill

Sanju's performance ATG performance in world cup history, not just this one. He deservedly wins. Even if he doesn't it will be BUmrah. 3 knock scenario matches he delivered. Farhan made runs against Namibia in the very first round and 100 in the super 8 against a dead rubber of Srilankan match.

2 hundreds back to back in ICC event is no joke... he did not play on the flat roads of India with small 50m boundaries...

The problem is not Farhan not getting POTT but people actually thinking he deserved it.

The guy even posted his stats just after loosing important game against England.

For that he should have at least played in semifinal

It was flat track lol Washed up Fakhar later Shanaka destroyed Shaheen. You also just proved Gambhir's point. Nobdoy cares about centuries. Sanju could have easily scored three easily. That was not his goal. Farhan took what? 8 balls to get to 100?

Afghanistan se match har gye the , yad to hoga hi.

The problem with most Pakistani batters is that when they consume a lot of balls, they are unable to accelerate and eventually throw their wicket away. In contrast, Indian and other modern batters make sure to capitalize once they settle at the crease, and the runs start flowing like a river.
