The rest of the team lineup will be the same, but Hasan Ali has been added to a final squad of 12 for tomorrow's game - He might play, decision will be made before the match.

Squad for tomorrow's game: Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman, Hussain Talat, Sarfaraz Ahmed (c, wk), Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan Shinwari.

Honestly don't think he's ready for international cricket, but hey-ho.

A bit strange to debut him in a final. But at the least he gets a game.

He has poor footwork, but is a powerhouse like Mukhtar Ahmed.

congratulations to him. Don't think he is any special. Good luck though

He can't do worse than Haris at least, From the given squad this is our Best line up,, Atleast the have realized it till final,,, Once Babar replace Farhan, This could be an even better team, which will give any team run for their money,,, Afridi should play ahead of Hassan Ali, who seems one season wonder,,, With his height it's very hard to have a long successful career as premier fast bowler unless you are Marshall or waqar level good,,,

Dont want to sound like a pessimist, but this guy is def. not ready for international cricket. He didn't really impress in the PSL and needs a lot of improvement. Even more than Hussain Talat.

He is still very raw. But would be nice for him if he can get some confidence here.

Hopefully Grant Flower has worked with him on his footwork and the outside off line so that he does not poke there.

Don't have ultra high expectations but opening will be a more suitable role for him then Haris Sohail

I'm not sure if I agree with this - recently we've blooded youngsters into the team well but this has been a muddled mess.

Why would you use Haris Sohail as a makeshift opener in the first place given Arthur said after the NZ series he's not a T20 opener ?

I get we're in a tough spot with Babar injured but when Hafeez failed in the first two matches, that was the time to debut Farhan not a tournament final.

My guess
Haris was selected in t20s due to babar injury .he was save option to drop when babar return unlike any other youngster who would have been hard to drop.
Haris was used as a opener in t20 so if he does well so he can open for us in odis but now it seems he won.t get opporunity to open against zim .honestly looking at haris poor feilding and his smooking habit i think he should be drop from both odis and t20 he doesnot merit his place there .he should be restrict to test

And the CT was not the time to debut Fakhar.

Hopefully farhan does well so he can be try opener in odis which is his strong suit.he does have some technical issue but he wont improve in domestic so he should be presist with the squad

Big statement from team management. Could have easily gone for Hafeez, but chose to debut a youngster. Hopefully Farhan repays the faith and becomes Fakhar defacto opening partner

Not comparable at all.

Fakhar already played T20s in the West Indies series before the CT and made his ODI debut in the group stages of the tournament.

Fakhar was much more polished and experienced a player before his debut than Farhan, who's come off the back of a poor PSL campaign, is now.

We backed ourselves into a corner by stupidly selecting Hafeez who inevitably flopped instead of blooding Farhan from the start of this tri series !

Good point but still I would have Farhan open in the final ahead of Haris and Hafeez.

People saying final is too big a risk to play him.

But I really like Arthur's approach here, this is what Pakistan was missing in last 6-10 years. Injecting young blood at any time, whether they are ready or not is the key here which we had during IK's era. We don't want any softies here. If he is good enough he can play good no matter it is Final or a group game.

Farhan is touted as someone who is brave and play fast no matter the situation is. This could possibly be the case to see his character rather than his performance, and is better than playing Hafeez.

another knowledgeable fan trolling Hassan Ali of all players🤦🏽*♂️ You need to get out more

old school Pak move .. sit the youngsters on the bench in easier games, throw him in for the big game

It's worked amazingly in the past, hopefully works tomorrow. Farhan delivering could go a long way in ending Hafeez and whatever's left of Shehzad

Dat hoop ik ook, although I don´t think a final is the right place to give a debutant some confidence.

Pakistan will bat first and get around 155 . Australia will get a very good electrifying start , after first wicket falls , there will be a collapse in the middle order . Match will go to last over , finally Pakistan will just hang on to a victory.

:)

I am one of his big fans, but of late he hasn't been upto the mark, whtever is the reason, but with our fast bowling stocks he can't remain in XI for too long with this level of performance, its not even about wickets , he concede too many runs..

Good decision. People complaining about his lack of experience, in recent times our best players have been the younger players. :)).

Hafeez ,Malik, and Sarfraz have struggled in ODIs in the last few series. Whilst in tests Azhar,Asad, and Sarfraz have struggled since Misbah and Younis have retired.

Experience isn't the be all and end all of cricket.

Deserves a chance.

The others have struggled apart from Fakhar, so let's see what he can do.

I guess he should have been given a chance earlier in the tournament.

Maybe he's being included in as a surprise package.

I would imagine if he clicks, would be a huge boost to his confidence.

This is just a hit and giggle series, hardly a "tournament final", stakes aren't even that high lol. I doubt anyone in Australia cares about this series. Still, would've made sense to debut him earlier if it wasn't for Sarfraz's cham cha-geeri for Blessed bhai :hafeez2

People were begging for him to come into the team and now they're all saying he ain't ready. He's a massive upgrade over Shehzad and Azhar.

Perfect . Brave decision from coach and captain . I like this attitude
Most of teams would refuse to debut a player in final

Should have been given a chance earlier but fair enough. Hope he does well.

Giving a young guy his debut in a final against a team like Australia is as Pakistani as it could get.

Agreed but we don't really have the choice to send him back to domestic to iron out his kinks.

Wasn't there also a story I read on here [maybe an interview from Farhan?] (paraphrasing-) where it was stated he doesn't trying to fix the issues he has with his batting, but instead tries to look at the positives?

Yeah, of Waqar trying to fix his batting but Rizwan told him don't bother, he has a certain way of playing and he won't change from that.

This is his time to shine and step up when the situation requires it. he had an average PSL but I'm sure the guy has a lot of potential.

Pakistan, throwing kids in the deep end like the old days. You either learn to swim like a fish, or drown trying. Good luck son, may you come through this baptism of fire.

Yea i read that too. I hope he is a hard worker and tries to fix issues. To me it seems like he already has a star mindset which has been a pain for us in the past. Hope i am wrong though.

When i saw him in psl, he looked like a mindless slogger. Not sure what his stats are though.

Sahibzada is a strange forename! VIP before he has even played a game.

Even if he doesnt score a lot of runs, he needs to make an impact and show he belongs there. If he does so that will be enough for Mickey to know his caliber. Even if he doesnt impress, Mickey wont drop him after just one match, he will be in the squad for the next T20 tour.

Fakhar looked a mindless slogger to many here. When you are new to a certain stage it takes bit of time to get those nerves off, sometimes it takes few matches. Give him sometime, and I know Mickey is gonna give him in the T20 squad, and you will see him open up as a player in front of your eyes. I haven given examples of Amla and ABD several times, they looked pretty mediocre at the start of their career and look at where they stand at the end. You just need to find that hidden talent.

Also when a player gets good management and straightforward game plan, it can do wonders to a player.

Beginner's luck might factor in and he can prove to be a big factor in Pakistan's victory.

He looked awful in the PSL and doesn’t seem suited to T20 but let’s see how he goes.

What a catch he took to remove Finch. That should give him confidence when he comes out to bat.

There you go.

Ridiculous planning and selection policy to waste four matches on Hafeez and Haris.

Oh dear. That was embarrassing wasn't it.

To be out first ball on debut is bad enough, but to be out like that from a wide is just painful.

So much hype about this lad and was excited to see how he performs, but he walks outside the crease and looks like a clown while dragging his foot back the very first ball he faced. What a dream debut!

What this must have done to young Farhan's confidence.

Inzi now dropping him would be the icing on the cake for him.

Well that is exactly how to damage the confidence of a youngster , personally I think you should not bring in a young player into the team unless you are fully behind him and have full faith in him - which Inzy would know better than anyone if we look at how Imran handled him at start.

If they had confidence in Sahibzada Farhan and from the glimpses I have seen, think he has serious potential and talent , then he should have been started from game one and given a full series with 2 games each v Zimbabwe and Australia to show what he can do. Instead they made him feel like he is a last resort after Hafeez and Sohail getting ducks and throw him into final under pressure -- knowing well that if he fails we will kick him out and bring back Hafeez or Shezad, it's just the way to ruin someone's confidence.

Technically he did not face a single legal delivery. He deserves more chances now that he has been finally selected.

It would be highly unfair if he is judged on a first ball dismissal off a wide, while making his debut in a tournament final.

He wasnt too impressive in PSL. However he did make runs in the PSL final and has a good list A record.

Deserves a few chances.

He is going to be part of next T20 squad so relax guys.

Let him play and atleast 6-7 matches and then come up with theories of how bad or good he is.

I hope that like Fakhar, Sharjeel, Asif Ali, Imam etc he is gonna come good when given enough chances and confidence.

Agree, and as far being impressive in PSL is concerned.. well even legends and top tier contact players like Hafeez have barely delivered anything impressive in PSL seasons 1,2 or 3.. although Hafeez is clearly a success story at international level so it's an unfair comparison. :)

One of the horrendous debut any one can get hope he makes his mark in next chance

Girtay hain shehsawar Maidan-e-Jang mai....

In the words of the Allama.

A few years later as a successful batsman, Sahibzada will look back at this debut and smile to himself

Must be some kind of record to be out on a diamond duck on your debut

I have to say when I saw it back on how he got out, I couldn't but smirk abit. I mean we were all waiting to see him perform and so much hype around him that the lad got stumped off a wide. Good thing he's still young and is a talented prospect who's likely gonna be given time to cement his spot in the T20I side ........... but still what a way to make your debut.

Another chance for Farhan to show his talent. There is no pressure on him so lets see what he does.
