Looking at England's selection for the World Cup where they have packed their batting with 6 hitters taking into account the sorts of surfaces expected.

On top of that, both Saim and Azam's performances in the CPL including the boundary hitting ability are very encouraging - Saim more so than Azam!

Both need to be part of the squad.

I've always said we need hitters, but we have been going for a very poor batting lineup. Bowlers are going to get smashed no matter who you pick. And we've seen part timers can do a job. But Pak management are clueless.

Not sure if Azam and Saim are the answer but could be part of a bigger hitting group. Not your Iftis, Shadab and Imad wasting hitting spots. Though Shadab can come after the hitters as he's done reasonable well as long he can bowl well too.

I am going by their experience of the Windies in CPL

Definitely. And they add to the variety of the batting line up where most of the overs are gobbled up by couple of one dimensional me first team next stats padding seniors.
One is cute hitter while other is brute hitter. Must have combo.:inti

Unless you lock him in a gym for 30 days with minimal food, it won't happen.

He just has to be fit enough to play 5 overs at max strike rate. After that he can hide in the field.

Where does he hide? We've seen this with kamran akmal, Muhammad irfan and various others field.

It's impossible to hide someone in the field with 100% certainty.

I saw azam Khan when he was forced to field instead of keep. He's terrible.

problem is that Azam cant survice those many overs and another one is that we need to build a room on the field to hide this big boy because he cant hide himself behind the tiny bits of woods :D

Are u serious?
Azam Khan should NOT play for Pakistan. A player like him shoud be kept far away from the team.

Besides he is not international material. You just cant when being so obese like him. His pathetic average and SR are a proof he should stick to below average T20 leugues.

Shadab has a better strike-rate than all of your so-called ‘hitters’.

Who are these hitters?

Why can’t we see them?

As for OP, only Salt could be considered a hitter. The rest are proper batsman, who also happen to be dynamic in their approach.

We don’t have anyone who fits this profile in Pakistan, so we have to make do with what we have in Saim.

I would choose Best setup for all matches

1. Rizwan
2. Babar
3. Saim ayub
4. Fakhar Zaman
5. Usman khan
6. Mohd Haris
7. Salman ali agha/Imad Wasim
8. Mohammad Amir
9. Shaheen Shah Afridi
10. Abbas Afridi
11. Abrar Ahmed

Bench
Infi, Naseem, Shadab

The problem is the ones we have, fail on the big stage or don't get long enough. Its an area of improvement definitely.

Both

100% needed. They will be heavily important in the super 8 against West Indies, South Africa and England. Pakistan will likely lose all 3 games with our without them tbf

Saim has potential but he hasn’t converted that potential into anything substantial. At this point in getting skeptical now. I’m afraid he might be under too much pressure to make any difference.

Azam Khan is too obese to succeed at international level. So far he has not scored more than 10 runs in one innings at international, let alone playing a decent knock.

Saim Ayub with all his hype and talent. has proved to be another league bully till now. Look at his game in CPL and PSL, totally different player then what we have seen in the internationals/ I guess he should be given a wake up call because he is eating the place of other guys who are not getting a chance because of his No-look shot (1 time wonder) stuff.

As far as azam khan is concerned, nothing much to say. He has been a league bully but his international performance is worse than any tailender. We cannot even hide him in the field, this is not going to work. If Rizwan and usman are playing, I don't think he will get any chance.

One acre sugarcane field yes, one can hide him somewhere.

You cannot hide poor fielders on a cricket pitch, especially not in International T20s where batsmen look to score 360 degrees, just not possible.

Also modern T20 batsmen look to run twos when not striking boundary balls, being a T20 there's little need for them to conserve energy. Azam has time and again been run out on multiple occasions, how will he take quick singles, rotate strike, let alone run twos?

Saim Ayub has had enough chances, its better to move forward now from him but I will give one or two proper series to Azam Khan as he never got a fair chance to display what he is capable of, I m sure our babloo can do the fireworks!

Even in his 17 matches, he has displayed more potential than Misbah ever did as a T20 player tbf
Misbah was forced to be removed from t20 after his famous England botch.

Misbah has botched more games as a captain then anyone on this planet.

Saim will come good we need to be patient. We aren't exactly spoiled for choice anyway, there's no one else with that kind of potential.

Saim will be in the squad, depending on Azam’s fitness I think he will also fly to the WC.

I think saim should wake up to reality now. He will not succeeded if he keeps on thinking about the leagues and play like leagues. He needs to change a few things in internationals like he should not try to play no-look shot every now and then. He is young and there is a lot of room for improvement but he needs to be really serious about it. Forget leagues now and play international cricket like he is supposed to.
