Saim Ayub - International performance watch

i agree, but the overhyping here just seems ridiculous. It was as if all issues were due to riz and babar and getting thi kid would solve everything
That's because some have real hate towards the 2, others think we need new blood. I am of the opinion that competition for the 2 will do both lots of good. Our players need competition

I agree with the posters saying he shouldn't be hyped. No prospect should be.

But his player type is critical for Pakistan at the top of the order and he's a decent prospect for that role. He's come through the system and performed in various formats including FC cricket. If a player like this isn't supported then just run the same oldies and pause domestic cricket.

Saim has to perform but he should get a proper run.

His fielding has been a huge plus point too (minus the drop in Australia).

I expected the knives to start coming out after a couple of dud knocks, but this lad looks like a talent, and yes his fielding is a real plus. Pakistan doesn't have enough quality to ignore a player who can hit the ball as cleanly as Saim. Keep him in the T20 team and he will win you games. He just needs to be backed and nurtured by the coaching staff.

Saim would be under pressure now because he has failed in consecutive three innings. If he doesn't score today so Farhan is sitting on the bench and could replace him in the next game.

Saim's poor tour continues. His bubble busted badly. Failed on another tour after that afghan series.

He is couple of seasons away from becoming an International Cricketer , should go back to the domestic cricket and scores heavily and learn how to put price to his wicket.

It’s either Haris/Ayubs 15/2 of 3 overs or
Rizwan/Baba 30/0 of 5 overs take your pick.

He’s just nervous. Playing alongside a batsman who is famous for pacing his innings poorly doesn’t help either.

It can't be fun watching a guy singlehandedly fight for your country but yet you still feel bitterness in your heart.

May Allah make it easy for you.

We wouldn’t use these excuses if he were older. It’s because he’s young. And I think you’re right he is too nervous.

The guy is talented but not ready yet for international cricket, and we are rushing him in because we are desperate. These sort of innings are going to kill the confidence of Saim, it’s not healthy for him. I hoped he was ready but it’s the exact same issue as Haris. These guys are talented, but they are not in the Umar akmal level, that they can perform straight away at that sort of age. No one was saying this of Umar akmal or Babar when they were young. They didn’t look as nervous on the crease and they were ready (or at least closer too).

Now we drop him and kill his confidence. Or we keep playing him and if he fails again his confidence goes. Or now he just keep playing him, praying he will click before he amasses too many games with a poor record that people will start writing him off completely and will make it harder for him to achieve any sort of comeback.

There you go again - back of a length delivery angling across him.

Didn't take long for good bowlers to work him out.

Pakistan next big thing failed big time not sure what to comprehend from his 4 games

There is no youngster in Pakistan who is more deserving of being backed than Saim Ayub.

He has struggled but this is a tough away tour against a world class opening bowling attack.

He is raw, young and his talent remains evident from his performances elsewhere.

The management should openly back Saim and say that they believe he has what it takes to come good and make it clear they will not drop him.

I’d understand if we had a queue of talented youngsters waiting for their shot like India do.

But we don’t so Saim is our best bet of the lot.

Saim Ayub gets another life courtesy to some sloppy fielding from New Zealand. Can he make this opportunity count?

Saim needs to be backed at the top but he too needs to be more mindful of what he is doing on the pitch. This is international cricket and regardless of how much talent you have, unless you put a price on your wicket you won't last long. He has been too loose with his stroke play and most of his dismissals have been extremely soft.

Carribbean pitches are not the most batter friendly as evidenced by low scoring games but Saim's consistent hitting at 140+ SR was exceptional.
Rarely do we see such clean and sustained hitting from a Pak batsmen. Beautiful swing of the blade he's got.
I wish he becomes our white ball opener soon and gives us that missing impetus at the top to make it easier for middle order accumulaters
@Rana post from Sep 23 😃

But still a long way to go before he reaches the level of Asif Ali 😂

Great to see the lad in the news and this time for a quick fire hundred. He’s a lot of style in his batting and if he proves to be the real deal for Pakistan we are in for a treat in the long run with some very good looking knocks. Best wishes to the youngster and Pakistan fans. There’s still good talent in Pakistan, which needs right backing and right nurturing.

It’s fun reading past posts from people who were bashing Saim and have no clue about modern day batting.

You should never be in a hurry to hound a young talent who actually tries to play according to todays standards, even if he fails early in his career.

We have far too many accumulators and oldies who are much bigger problems. Those who have a ton of experience and are now seniors —- they should be your target. Imam, RIZWAN, Babar, etc.

Not people like Saim. They need all the chances they can get and will eventually perform.

Seems like he made technical change to his batting. I have noticed he keeps his bat higher up in the air when bowlers are about to deliver the bowl, giving him an extra sec to play and that also allows him to pick the length better.

This knock has bought him a lot of time. Hopefully he will make the most of it and cement his position. He needs to pick his shots smartly and be consistent.
