Salman Butt and Wahab Riaz dropped from Lahore team after opposing 'selection' of unknown players

In the National T20 Cup held a couple of months ago, the Lahore Whites team was selected through a draft (as were all other teams). However, during the tournament, LCCA elections took place and the leadership of the Lahore Cricket Association changed. The new regime 'sent' a couple of unknown players (with no previous record of having played FC/List A or professional cricket) to the Lahore Whites team.

The Lahore Whites team was mostly composed of well-known players and the captain Salman Butt refused to accept these new players in his team in the middle of the tournament. Wahab Riaz backed him up. The hierarchy was displeased by this and as a result, Salman Butt and Wahab Riaz have been omitted from the teams for the upcoming Regional One-Day Cup.

Yes but the higher-ups were not impressed that they didn't obey them, therefore they were dropped.

Poor stuff from LCCA.

I'm not a huge fan of either Salman Butt or Wahab Riaz but right is right and wrong is wrong.

Players shouldn't be forced into teams without merit.

Salman missing the tournament is a good thing. Would’ve fooled the selectors with his selfish runs otherwise

Problem for Butt is he has no leverage due to his shady past.

It says they were unknown so its fair to assume they may not have had merit but maybe they were very talented? What is wrong with them being in the squad if this is the case? Players cannot dictate selection, this has been happening in Pakistan cricket for far too long.

The player selection was done through a draft. The LCCA higher-ups wanted to put these new players into the squad in the middle of a tournament out of the blue. This is not the usual way of doing things in such a setup.

This is very odd, I wonder what players these are? I'm guessing one of them may be Yasir Jan.

The new players were probably bhanjays and bhateejays of some of the higher ups.

Why Wahab is still tagging along Salman Butt is the main area of concern. I am starting to get the impression that Wahab was in on stuff and was hiding information from the authorities . This guy is a loyal friend but he needs to stay way from Salman Butt in public matters.
