Salman Butt replaces Mohammad Hafeez in the Lahore Qalandars squad for PSL 2019

Hafeez was a middle order bat they had harris sohail, butts an opener just dont understand
 
Look at it this way, Lahore has tried pretty much everything. They got the most explosive and the best t20s batsmen around such as Gayle, Buz, Fakhar, and now AB, yet somehow it didn't work out for them. They even had accumulators azhar, Agha, Hafeez yet that also failed. They also played youngsters with potential. After all of this, a decision to include Butt in the team doesn't sound as bad as it should.

At least they are trying something different. Butt will be desperate to perform, indicated by his constant complaints for not being selected for the national team.

Well, out of all the names that I mentioned babar azam is the most dynamic.

Babar azam played at no 3 for pakistan in t20 for a while. The same happened with him that he wasnt able to change gears and when he had to change gears he got caught out in the deep.

After that period the management thought of opening with babar so that he can play his natural game from the get go with the powerplay on.

Babar is also a 100+ strike rate player, but that doesnt mean that his game is suitable in the middle order. Not everyone can play in the middle order and u cant always come in and play your strokes.

The pitch sometimes is tricky and the ball doesnt come onto the bat. In that situation you have to get a partnership going and in the last overs you can go for the big shots, but what when you dont have those big shots?

That's why you have to be a dynamic player. On a tricky wicket even a strike rate of 90 ll do in the beginning, but if you cant change gears in the end you get stuck.

The following players ll then also get stuck, bcz then they have to do the job that you couldnt do and have to take big big risks and you end up with a score of 130.

I hope now you ll understand that why playing in the middle overs is a different ball game.
 
Perfect fairy tale for Salman Butt, to become the star key performer for LQ's, man of the match performances and helps LQ win the PSL, maybe LQ's might appoint him captain.

This would be the ultimate comeback for the man who has seen so much in the last 10 years.
 
The funny thing was that posters were making threads about which youngster will replace Hafeez. It was so obvious they would go for a TTF. Other than Islamabad, no other franchise has any interest in developing youth. Didn’t think they would go for Butt. Do not agree with this selection as he is a rubbish LO player at the moment and won’t improve any further.

Also a silent moment for marketing experts. How will a brand look good by having a convicted fixer in their team :))?

Truly awful selection.

Not really. Teams will laugh at the mediocrity of that team. Two hacks. One overrated prima donna. a fast bowler in his late 30s and another that can't buy a wicket to save his life.

Also, what an idiotic post. You'd rather have Pakistan embarrass themselves just to try to get under the opposition's skin instead of actually having any sort of morals or values.

They got a team everyone can unanimously hate on and take out their anger.

Existing LQ supporters would now leave them. :)))

Butt's quality is far worse than Fawad Alam, so there's no fairy tale.

I actually had a soft spot for them this year with the likes of AB, Fakhar, Afridi and Hafeez playing for them but that's gone out the window.

I would like to see some of their foreign players leave to protest. Or maybe AB pulls out for a reason. Another year of them in shambles and watching Fawad Rana crying from the sidelines would be ideal.
 
If this guy is playing I am supporting the other team, I don't care if the team is from Lahore anymore this is a disgrace. You gotta be kidding me I'd take anyone over this guy. Lahore Qalandars Management actually lacks brain cells. First they keep the same coach that has got them eliminated in the group stages, they do not have any all-rounders in their squad other than that Vilojen guy who is a dud with both bat and ball, meaning their tail stars at #7. Their wicket keeper is an overweight retired/unretired Zimbabwean cricketer who is in the worst form of his life. But oh wait Lahoriyoh we got ABD to entertain you guys! Now we even got Salman Butt, as his partner in crime. :facepalm:

So disappointed is it possible to change my username on this site? Because honestly these people running the Lahore franchise are so clueless they have no cricketing sense whatsoever, anyone could build a better team than this. Honestly I don't know what to say about this team anymore I hope AB steps up and puts in some killer performances and wins the tourney for Lahore because I still love Lahore I'm just so done with the people running the franchise though. Probably going to start supporting my second team Multan Sultans a bit more heavily now.

It's not that, even if he wasn't tainted I still wouldn't want him because of the fact he's a 34-year-old taking up a sport that could've been given to a young talented batsman or bowler and he's never really been that great in T20s.

I stopped supporting them last season. Will not support as long as Aqib is there.
 
I dont think LQ lost any fanbase. We have a nation who proudly supports the corrupt by saying ‘khata hai tou lagata bhi hai’

We deserve this if i am being honest.

On a personal note it would be interesting to see Butt in PSL. I mean if Amir can play PSL then why not Butt.
 
Good luck to Butt, hope he will perform. He committed a crime but punished severely , now he has all the right to earn his living. You can;t punish someone twice for the same crime.
 
Disappointed at this decision, not because of Butts past but moreover because it takes up the spot of a potential youngster which overall would have been better for Pak cricket. Someone like Saif Badar.

Any how I sincerely hope tho that Butt makes the most of his inclusion. He did the crime and did the time. Life goes on and he should be allowed to earn his livelihood now.
 
Nothing surprise!!!!!

1. Franchise owners don't have any understanding about cricket
2. They don't have any obligation to perform
3. They are free to choose whom they want even someone from the street.
4. When we have a dispassionate and not honest selector making the draft.
 
WTH!!! Can't believe this!!! :facepalm::facepalm:. I don't feel like supporting the Qalandars anymore. Anyone (except Mohammad Asif) would be better. Zeeshan Malik woul've been the prefect choice.

Your right Amir is a big offender but then he played it clever, and good for him he changed his tune and owned up for whatever reasons. One can't go into one's heart and head and know the intentions of the person, but at least he did not say for years he's innocent. It might have been all for a show, and only cause he was caught he owned up but he did the right thing visibly anyway.
The others never admited fault and for years kept denying and telling lies until they realised that the only option is to admit as then they only have a chance to play again. Even then Butt made it sound as thats the only reason he's admited his guilt and didn't sound genuinley sorry or apologetic. Also, him being the captain and senior.

Anyway, like I said before nothing against him personally and maybe he has reformed now and no reason I suppose not to choose him, especially if Amir can be forgiven.

Also, putting the scandal of spot fixing aside, i think instead of Salman Butt Lahore should have taken the oppurtunity to give a chance for a young player to make his mark.
 
I know also Saj and others have said about here about Mohammad Amir lying abouthis age. I am not aware but the thing is this is not exclusive to Amir and nothing to do with the fixing. It's a common thing, well at least in the past where the age of Pakistani players isn't what they say it is for various reasons. It doesn't make it right but maybe we need to verify all player ages with carbon dating lol.
 
Cant wait to see Amir bowl to Butt in PSL. His first ball to him should be a bouncer or beamer!!
 
Butt definitely does not deserve this on merit, he scores too slowly.

On the basis of his history of fixing and morality, then as a cricketing nation we don't have much left when it comes to it unfortunately, from the Qayyum report, to the Lords fixing, to having chuckers in the team, then bringing back Amir.

It will be a long way before we fix our image and by selecting Butt we're fanning the fire.

I am no fan of Salman Butt but don't understand all this " I hope they finish last stuff " . They are free to sign who they want unfourtnaley.

It will be funny when this blows up in LQs faces though.

I am not afraid to admit that I dislike Salman Butt. He is a shady character with no morals whatsoever so it's easy to despise him. I don't want to see someone like him succeed therefore I wish nothing but the worst for LQ.

That being left apart, LQ are making a mockery of the sport by picking a local ********. There are better players in Pakistan that could've used the opportunity. The likes of Zeeshan Malik and Kamran Ghulam are not only more talented but better suited to the format.

Fawad Rana is either corrupt himself or nothing more than a clueless cheerleader that just needs a skirt and a top to look the part.
 
Shane Warne defended David Warner and Steve Smith under the pretext "Good people can make mistakes". The same philosophy should apply to Salman Butt, the kind of time he has done has not been done by anyone else in Cricketing History.
 
Another team should now step up and sign M Asif. It will add a bit of masala to this uttering boring tournament.

Amir or Asif bowling to Butt would generate a lot of interest and fans would be willing to pay for this contest. :najam
