I like watching all cricket. I watch CPL, BBL, PSL, BPL and IPL and there is no doubt IPL is the most fun bc of crowd size. This year though the squads seem weaker and I think it is the local players honestly. Most of the local bowlers average in the high 8s while the batsman don't have high sr. I know there are some good local players too, but most of them are either inconsistent or have low sr. How does Vijay Shankar find a place? Every team has 2-3 weak links This is what separates International cricket from the leagues, every player in the national team is an international player.

It’s not a problem of IPL or any other T20 leagues; rather T20 is such a game that sits at either extreme - you are a hero or zero in this format. The game time is too little for a player to show case talent, more importantly to come back. In soccer or hockey terms, imagine a game of 20 minutes - you’ll see every team trying to keep clean **** and hit long range shots for 1-0. In hockey, it’s even worse - 90% effort will be to target players boot in D and win a penalty corner😝

Take yesterday’s game - poor guy VK went for 16 in 1st over & 19 in next 11 and the game ends there. In an ODI scenario, he could have made a comeback for a figure like 3/72 - still damage controlled significantly. In a Test match, Captain could have rested him for 2 sessions and he could have a 3/19 spell with 2nd new ball.

T20 is like rapid Chess - once a kid beat one of our Chess GMs in a rapid Chess tournament. It’ll be like that no matter what’s the quality of XI, because by nature cricket is a lengthy game; you can’t put it in 3 hours capsule and expect full circle from every stakeholders.

People tend to forget these are domestic leagues. Also international cricket isn't much great either these days. Teams have been winning ODI series 4-1, 5-1, 5-0 recently. The only saving Grace was Eng vs NZ with 3-2. Like any international team, you have a few match winners sprinkled in between decent fillers in domestic leagues.

A Sanju Samson or a Shahbaz Nadeem is definitely top class when it comes to talent. Even if they haven't played a lot of international cricket.

Yes and they were already good and known. Samson should really be getting a look in for Dhoni in T20s

Pant looks like a leg side hack, why is he so rated? Ishan kishan looks really good as well. India needs to let go of raina, he was my fav but he is done in international

Doesn't upping it to 5 international players per team make sense for the IPL then? They certainly have enough foreigners to choose from.

Why is Vijay Shankar there? Because he is a decent batsman who can bowl...and he also did very well in last IPL
