You have no idea about batting or his ability. Don't throw random statements.
Short ball and pull is one of his strengths in fact.

Remember seeing him play some impressive pulls and drives on ODI debut. I think some people may be underestimating his stroke-making talent. Main worry before today was regarding his technique, but I can't recall when I last saw a Pakistani opener with such impressive off stump awareness. Was in total control apart from a couple of loose shots which easily evaded the fielders, and he's a treat to watch against spin, Masha Allah.
His driving ability was never in question. You'd have to be a pretty poor player to be unable to drive from the position he gets himself in.
Judging the off stump line was never going to be a problem because of the shuffle across the stumps but that made him a candidate for LB because his front foot went too far across leaving him in an imbalanced stance. That problem he's rectified with the coaches. The shuffle is much smaller now and feet/body alignment better.
The reason he's a candidate for short pitched deliveries is because of the crouch he does to gauge for the ball. Getting in such a low, cramped stance puts his body in a bad position to get on top of the ball and doesn't allow for much leverage with the bat. The weight is fully on the front-foot which means he won't have enough time to go back.

There's no doubt in my mind Australia will exploit this. And if England pick it up, they will as well.
To rectify this he'd either have to plant, rock back and pull, in other words, become a front-foot puller or shorten the period he crouches to gauge and stand up quicker or the best option which understandably might not be ideal for him, simply reduce the crouch and stand up taller.
Whats your take on him as an ODI cricketer? I think we need to give Sharjeel a consistent chance in ODIs first tbh. Our batting lineup is pretty monotonous otherwise.

I wouldn't mind. He's a pretty good timer of the ball.
Sharjeel should be a constant in our LOI lineup. It would be a shame if we're unable to develop a player of such immense natural ability.
Already ruined Umar, his lack of brain cells is also to blame. But Sharjeel from his interviews seems a thinking cricketer albeit aggressive when batting.
Who do you want to be our 2 openers against England in the first ODI? Im a huge fan of Sharjeel as well.

He was just amazing and showed everyone how to bat in these type of conditions. The way he was leaving the ball outside of his offstump was beyond everyone expectations. All you need to know is thats what hardwork can do for you. Also credit to Grant Flower , he has done a tremendious job here to make pakistan batsman more consistant than ever.
I heard he left the ball well today which frustrated all the bowlers. He doesn't look the most technically sound batsman, i saw a few drives away from the body. But someone to do well in his debut innings against England, will do his confidence a world of good. He looked more solid compared to Shan Masood.
I was always in favor of playing Sami Aslam and Babar Azam in both test and ODI formats.Sami is the 2nd highest runs maker in under 19 ODIS after Nazmul of Bangladesh and he possess impressive batting average in list A cricket. He was unfairly dropped after just 2 tests and one ODI in which he made 45 runs against Bangladesh.
It's time to include in ODI also and give him extended run. He is more valuable than Shehzad and Hafeez together.
Looking forward to the next series , hope we see Babar azam in the test 11.

Bring in Imam and Fakhar. Sami has regressed to tuk tuk.
Sami is good but he is very Azhar-ish in the sense that he is looking more to survive than to score runs. Is he an opening batsman or a night watchman?
