What's new

Sarfaraz Ahmed does NOT have to bat well to deserve his place in the team

So he doesn't have to bat well to play , he isn't capataining well. So what does he have to do to be in the team than ? Want OPs answer.

Sarfraz Ahmed: The Spare Tyre

Sarfraz Ahmed attempts to copy darren Sammys way of captaincy. Sammy also remained a spare tyre when he was captain. It's the way he led West Indies to victories twice in the t20wc.

But Sarf needs to remember that if needed. Sammy could bowl the last over with his golden arm and pull a victory off and of course he could also match the other west Indian bruisers and smash the ball to all parts.

Sarfraz on the other hand is a dud with the bat and an even bigger dud behind the stumps. He neither has the ability of Sammy nor the inspiration.

Did you check Sammy's stats for previous 12-13 months prior to 2016 WC before writing this?

Sammy still can hit the ball miles and is still a very good captain. Just look at the way he used Hasan Ali and played some match defining innings in this year's PSL alone.

This type of thread defies logic in 2019 when u have keepers like Butler,Bairstow,Pant,Dhoni,Latham,De Kock. This is not 1999 anymore

Lol he averaged like 30 something didn’t he at 170 plus strike rate? Another PP myth that needs dispelling.

That 8 runs in 3 innings doesn't tell the full story - going into 2016 WC, in previous 2 years, Sammy played 16 T20 games, 14 innings and batted at 42/220 stats (YES, SR of two hundred & twenty) - he played mostly as finisher and didn't get enough balls to score big, but finished at 220 SR. After WC, he left WIN team & only came back in end of 2017 to play 2 T20s for World XI for 2 innings of 29* (16) & 24* (23).

:)

Awful insight here

Perhaps this is the product of obsessing over mediocrity like Sohail Khan.

One fifty in his last 13 ODI innings, one century in his last 66 test innings. 0 centuries in tests in his last 3+ years and 3 fifties in his last 24 innings.

It is actually laughable at this point.

That does not matter. He is in the Pakistan team for his captaincy skills, there are others 10 players to do the batting and bowling.

I am not sure if this is sarcasm, because his "Beautiful Mind" has brought us to new lows in whitewashes.

Players like sohail khan were highly skilful with both the new and old ball. His aggressive attitude was not liked by Sarfraz and mickey.

Should be dumped in the garbage after the world cup is over. Big liability on our team.

Number 5 is the best spot for him and we have not seen him bat there anywhere near enough!!
So lets see how he goes

If WC is car crash we can replace with Rizzie

Put himself on number 5 position but he has to bat as if he owns that position.

Such a cop out thread. Yikes

Sarfaraz supporters going at great lengths to justify his place in the side

Fact is he is mediocre in all departments

This is why i emphasise the importance of having knowledge about this game called cricket before sharing views

Any day better than Malik the dud batsman.

He is just seeing carnage by his opponent wk batsman. Just shows where merit is in Pakistan.

Someone needs to show this thread to Buttler. He works hard on his batting for nothing.

What do you expect when your captain doesn’t merit a spot in the team?

I made a few threads a few years ago about how bad Sarfraz is when he was actually rated on this forum. Now his inclusion is finally coming back to bite us. Look at other teams’ keeper batsmen and look at ours. No hope

Umar Akmal destroyed his own career by not taking wicket keeping seriously.

Where is the OP? This thread has been missing him from quite some time! :)) Thought he'd be active here come the WC19!
