This has happened on more than one occasions that sarfaraz got run out while attempting to run an extremely difficult/almost impossible single or double. We all remember his infamous runout in the world cup match against SA where he tried to take on miller's speed and arm.

Today as well he took on lakmal's arm 3 times in one over and got runout on the third attempt. Imo he wouldn't have been runout if it wasn't a direct hit but you gotta do some sort of calculation and put a possibility of a direct hit in your mind while running to be on the safer side.

In my opinion he thinks he is quicker than he actually is. If He continues to overestimate his running speed ,it can cause some serious problems for Pakistan in crucial matches.

Thoughts?

The main problem I had with that out is that he had ran hard twice in a row before that. There's no doubt in that heat and with the equipment, the third time running hard you're a tiny bit slower.

It required a direct amazing hit to get him, but ultimately I would much much rather a high effort player who tries to take those extra runs.

Girate hain shaysawar hi madaienay Jung main, woh tifr kya giray jo gutnay ke bal chala karte hain.......( blah blah blah ) .....

One aspect to improve is that he doesn't look at the fielder when he's going for the second run and sometimes turns blindly.

Unfortunate I would say but he has that thing to take on fielders and that obviously helps, it was a brilliant through nevertheless and Sarfraz was unlucky there

Sarfraz was unlucky today as chances to hit wickets from that distance are very slim. A dive could have saved him. But its a game, you have to live with this.

all our players are poor runners between wickets. This is mainly due to inability to judge/anticipate how many runs should be taken.

People say Inzy was a poor runner because he was fat. Which may be true for the most part. But it was also because he could not judge whether to take a single or not.

Hafeez, Shehzad, Sarfraz, etc, are all really poor when it comes to this as well. Its not because they are unfit, its just because they have the same problem as Inzy.

Malik is probably the best from this lot.

Whose mistake was it today????
Afridi called for the second run

But yeah SArfaraz has a problem running my between the wickets. Every innings you see him making full length dives to save his skin. Those may look good for tv sometimes but are a sign that there is an issue

He has a belly and he thinks he is usain bolt. He is clearly over estimating himself as a runner. Somebody needs to tell him that he isnt as quick as he thinks.

Sarfaraz Ahmed has to sort his problem with running between the wickets

No two ways about it. He has been the shining light in our depressing Asia Cup campaign and has served humble pie to his haters. Hopefully the clueless people who want the tullay baaz Rizwan over him can keep their trap shut for a weeks.

But an issue he has always had in his career is his running between the wickets. This tournament alone there have been atleast 3-4 occasions where he would have been run out by miles if there had been direct hits.

It is beyond me why he takes those super risky doubles. He always has to end up resorting to last ditch dives which don't always come off. I don't understand why this problem hasn't been fixed considering this has been going on for over a year

Sarfaraz clearly overrates his running ability and speed. Someone should point to his belly to make realise that he really has no right to attempt these risky singles and doubles. He surely isn't Usain Bolt but thinks he is one considering his ridiculous decisions

With our lineup he is a very important batsman for us and we just cannot afford to lose him to stupid run outs. Similarly can't afford him to be involved in running out other batsmen which is what his style ends up doing.

Great to see him bat in top 4 today and long may his form continue.

Next captain of Pakistan.

I'd be tempted to even consider him overtaking Azhar

Lol what a jinx.

As soon as I pressed Post thread he got out :))

Yeah should bat at 4 but I think we have much bigger problems in our batting than his running

That's his strength and weakness he keeps fielders on their toes

I disagree that Rizwan is a tullay baz, I think he's a decent bat technically. But other than that, many of our batsmen have the same running problem. They just start running every time they put bat to ball. The calling is non-existent, they just run blind. Misbah was the only one who I could see calling for a run or saying no.

His running has got worse with his lack of fitness. Needs to get back into shape. It's so annoying, he was fit when he was in/out of the team, trying to break into the team. And now he's become an automatic selection, he's got fat. Really poor attitude really.

He definitely over estimates himself as a runner.

For the sake of Pakistan, he needs to realize he isnt as quick as he thinks.

I hope he makes the #3 or 4 spot his, but yeah needs work on his fitness and running between the wickets

Madplayer good thread brother

He has two issues :

1. Poor fitness so he is not swift between the wickets as he was 2,3 years ago. Used to be live wire than.

2. He is a poor judge of Run while he is on strike .

3. He does not have confidence over his legs so he denies singles to his batting partners when they play the shots. Singles which are on if you can run quick.

# Lose 10 kg weight. Everything will be fine.

# No short term possible remedy except denying sharp singles.

Bump

An over confident runner. Over estimates his fitness levels.

Don't think that run out was really anything to do with his fitness, he thought it was going for four so just wasn't running properly. Was pathetic nonetheless.

Lazy running.

Look at Fakhar sprinting, while Sarfaraz was jogging and taking it easy.

Sarfaraz wasn't even running to the danger end yet got run out - how embarrassing.

Yes today wasnt about fitness in particular. But many a times he does take on the throw from the outfield when his fitness doesnt allow him to.
