"Sarfaraz Ahmed is setting a good trend by reporting the spot-fixing approach" : Imran Khan

Imran Khan speaking on TV about spot-fixing and Sarfaraz Ahmed's recent report regarding a spot-fixing approach:

"The problem with spot-fixing is that it's very difficult to catch culprits - with match-fixing it's obvious for those who understand cricket but you never know when a person deliberately bowls a no-ball"

"The 2010 spot-fixing sting operation in England was one of the ways to catch spot-fixers but in general it's very difficult"

"I applaud Sarfaraz Ahmed for reporting the spot-fixing approach immediately, he is setting a good trend in this regard"

"The more you expose these people, the bookies, the more they will be scared"

"I was never approached by bookies during my cricketing career"

"Spot-fixing should be seen as being a major crime, it's like betraying your nation; the players should put up a united front against such acts just like Sarfaraz has done"

"Spot-fixing can be stopped if you go in depth, you need to penetrate the bookie syndicates; they are the ones who make bets so if one studies them then you will be able to tell which player has sold out to them"

"Once you give strict sentences, this can be stopped"

"When match-fixing began in Pakistan cricket, we missed a trick by not giving out stricter punishments; that would have put a stop to all of this"

"In American baseball once a team threw a game and they were exposed; the whole team got life bans and after that no one heard about such a thing again"

"There is no cure for greed; this starts from the top of a country's system where people have been getting away with robbing the country for 30 years and cricketers are not the only ones doing this so how can you expect this culture to change?"

Quite an interesting way to look at it ....

"When match-fixing began in Pakistan cricket, we missed a trick by not giving out stricter punishments; that would have put a stop to all of this"

Is that a slight dig at his former student :)) :)) ??

Standard IK stuff.....

Credit goes to PCB for making such a culture now.

^ exactly. Because PCB took action against the likes of Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan, it will prompt the players to report an approach made by a bookie to avoid a similar fate.

I think the PCB need to be realy praised for their tough stance on spot fixing in recent years. The most recent punishments have everyone quaking in their boots. No one is going to "forget" to report an approach these days lol

Is he the first Pakistani to have reported an approach?

Shows the captain has integrity unlike other ATG players in the past who got away with murder.
