Misbah-ul-Haq speaking on TV after Pakistan beat England to qualify for CT final:

"I can't explain my feelings, it feels so good. So proud and happy to see this Pak team go to the final. They played a perfect game today. Last two games were rollercoasters. For such an important, pressure game, they gave such a performance and it was wonderful to watch."

"Happy for Sarfraz, brilliant captaincy from him. The way he took decisions, bowling changes etc., he was excellent and ahead of the game. So proud to see him as a captain and Pakistan team performing like that."

"Eoin Morgan's body language showed they were worried. Their strength is chasing but he said they would have batted first. That means they were worried about the opposition. They thought Pakistan aren't good chasers so they were thinking about that. That's the sign of a worried man. They were thinking more about the opposition."

"Sarfraz was clear in his thinking. He chose to bowl first and they were so relaxed and executed their bowling plans."

"Fakhar started positively and the openers complemented each other well. Once they had a good start, Fakhar learnt from the previous game and he was in control, he looked to leave the high bouncers and pull the less high ones."

"Good to see the kind of shots Fakhar played against the spinners. He had the right idea even on the ball he got stumped. Good to see his game awareness and his temperament is so good. He wants to take on the top bowlers."

"It's a good decision to play someone like Fakhar at the top. When he scores some runs, this gives breathing space to the rest of the lineup and makes their job easier."

"When Azhar thinks of one day cricket, he tries to force things. He needs to look at Amla as a role model. Just time the ball and place it into gaps, that's what he needs to practice. When he can't find gaps, he tries too hard. He should be Azhar Ali, he can't play like Fakhar. He should try to improvise a bit but he doesn't need to go there and hit the ball hard."

"Most important thing in any sport is attitude. Fast bowling is all about attitude and Hasan always is looking for an opportunity to impact proceedings. He is ready for a challenge. He is smart and has game awareness. He knew exactly where to bowl on this pitch. He has played with Morgan for Zalmi so he has a bit of an idea. He had a slip in for him even though he was set. He had a perfect plan to get him out. He also knew how to bowl to Stokes at the death and got him out."

"Since I've seen Rumman Raees in PSL, he's bowled so many good overs and produced so many good performances. He never looks like he doesn't belong on this stage. The way he has bowled to top players in PSL show how confident he is and he has great temperament."

"The way Junaid is bowling with the new ball and his second spell are very important. His spell in the middle overs was critical for Pakistan. I think a spinner needs to go out to bring Amir back, preferably Imad. I was in favour of playing Shadab and four seamers against India in the first game too."

"When I was with the Pakistan team I felt that we needed a bit of start to improve our morale whether that's with the ball or bat. Once morale improves, the attitude is different. The mindset today looked very good, the team was on a high."

"Every decision Sarfraz took today was spot on. One thing is very important for Sarfraz. He's like MS Dhoni. He's not temperament wise like him, he's aggressive - but he keeps his plans very simple like him. He sticks to the plans and the plus points. It's easy for the other players to understand."

sarfraz is like ms dhoni, but you dropped him from captaincy to select azhar ali

this decision will haunt misbah for a long time and around some time in his lifewould be answerable to such decisions

Sarfraz has done well but that statement was utterly wrong. Dhoni doesn't keep his plans simple. He sometimes experimented and took huge gambles, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

silly comment from misbah. Sarfaz is nothing like Dhoni.

You won't see dhoni running around like a headless chicken like Sarfraz does more often than not

Sarfi is a breath of fresh air. Pretty sure he's going to take Pakistan to greater heights. He is reminding me of the good old days when we had a feisty street smart team.. Awesome days ahead for our cricket!

What this tournament has clearly displayed is that at the end of the day, it does matter who´s captaining the team - regardless of how weak on papers your team might be.

He himself was a great skipper in Test cricket and over there in that in that format, he´s one of the best things to happen to Pakistan´s Test cricket, but the ODI team regressed rapidly under Misbah. He was laid back, defensive, lacked imagination and mostly looked run out of ideas. He couldn´t quite, in the last two years especially, inspire his team to challenge big teams. I don´t doubt his intentions, and I´ll always have a soft corner for him.

From Misbah to Azhar Ali as captain was the blunder of the century in sports history. That deserves no analysis.

"When I was with the Pakistan team I felt that we needed a bit of start to improve our morale whether that's with the ball or bat. Once morale improves, the attitude is different. The mindset today looked very good, the team was on a high"

Total rubbish. The team management is responsible for boosting morale, not "starts". And during your times, you went into the games with defensive mindset, soaked of any energy. Pakistan was beyond mediocre because of you :/

He is on the same page as me on the team selection... I also wanted to play four seamers and shadab against India..

on the 1st game against india i wanted to give with the following lineup

Against india: India is a batting heavy team and they dont like facing pacers, they will milk the spinners example is the match against them in CWC2015 please check the scorecard, so i would even play only one of Shadab or Imad.. Use Wahab as a trump card in the middle overs which is 16-30 and not as a first change bowler..

hafeez, shehzad, Babar, Sarfraz , Malik, Imad, Shadab, hasan ali, amir, wahab, juniad - See more at: http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...-Pakistan-Head-Coach-and#sthash.TXwJUnLq.dpuf

But now with Fakhar and Azhar settled as openers and only hafeez or imad can play will go with hafeez but they say imad with his undercutting the ball in his bowling helps the ball to reverse in 35th over...

Another thing I was mentioning again and again right from the beginning when Azhar had a good run in tests and was also called to ODIs back in 2012 he opened once or twice but in those games he looked solid.. Was calling for him to model Hashim and open the batting in ODIs... MISBAH if u had this in ur mind why you didnt back him as an ODI opener when u were the captain.. he was the answer for all ur early collapses that you had... During ur period of captaincy 76 (100) from one opener was gold but u looked to hafeez and supported him who was weaker candidate to open than azhar ali...

Always amused with MISBAH though he had good head on shoulders he was reluctant to go with his gut feeling due to fear of losing...

It shows how clueless Misbah was a captain. Comparing Sarfraz with Dhoni is showing his lack of understanding about ODI cricket. Dhoni was a legend and did lots of bold and witty experiments and it benefited him getting so many success. One the other hand Sarfraz is miles ahead of Misbah and Az for sure. But still he is very defensive and follow the script and take same team what he has been given to him with no say at all.

sarfraz is defensive, the english commentators and foreign analysts would beg to differ from you

about team selection, it is not sarfraz's fault or his captaincy lapse that he has no say in the selection, or any representation of his lack of captaincy ability

Misbah is wrong here. He himself is the one who looked to keep things simple and follow the same script over and over again

Sarfraz clearly has detailed plans for the opposition. You can see this from all the changes he has made in the team after every win. Misbah used to be happy to keep the "winning combination"

Misbah would have never brought Faheem Ashraf for SL game and go with winning team even though two spinners would have been too many against SL. Misbah has never been flexible in his pre written plans.

He never believed in horses for courses theory.

More than anything, blueprint is changing.

Misbah turned PCT into a spin-centered attack. Spinners were his go to bowlers. Something PCT was not used to.

Sarfaraz (and MA) switched towards Pace. Something that goes well with cricketing culture of PCT.

Batting remains the same by and large.

It is of utmost importance that Micky and Sarfaraz stick to Pace as their premiere arsenal.

misbah introduced 'winning team combination' policy, if the team won a game, it couldnt be changed, this tranformed pakistan into a very mediocre team, not many options have been available even as some analyst said, couldnt make playing 11 even

Dhoni is Dhoni because he shines under pressure.

Sarafaraz doesn't perform well under pressure.

When your guns are blazing, anyone could be seen as a great captain.

True character comes when chips are down.

Nope, Sarafaraz has done nothing to be named in same sentence with Dhoni (captain wise).

huh, what about srilanka match?

huh, what about srilanka match?

No one should rate a Pakistani captain against Sri Lanka and no one should rate an Indian capitain VS Pakistan. Reason is obvious.

Results are there before even a bowl is bowled.

Get off of your high horse.

Misbha didn't compare stats, nor said Sarfraz is better than Dhoni. He is not even discussing who is better but he is simply giving compliment to Dhoni.

He simply stated "Sarfraz is like Dhoni, keep things simple".

And if u loose on Sunday as usual, will u stop this stupid comparison thread .
Babar, Sarfaraz, umar, hafeez >= Kohli.
yasir >= Ashwin.
I just wonder why dont u guys go and compare ur superstars to Root , Smith and Williamson. WHY drag average , ordinary and inferior players like Kohli into threads.

THIS! Given the game is fair, Junaid got a huge role to play. Indians are well aware of Hasan's threat and they'll adopt block-and-hit mode against him, even against Amir. Its Junaid and Ruman who're expected to shape the fate of Indian innings. and Sarfraz cant do mistake of playing Imad against India. He's not a proper batsman so the excuse of allrounder/depthful batting is not valid. He can't win you games except for nudging 2 here and there and picking up an odd wicket. But having a proper bowler/batsman can help alot. Shahdab is a genuine spinner, if anyone's expected to come good against India, its him. Plus we got Hafeez to do darters if we ever felt like doing those.
