That small moment when Michael is unable to locate the gun in the washroom. My heart was literally in my mouth lol.
Balcony scene In Schindler's list when Amon Goth wakes up in the morning and randomly starts shooting Jews just for the kicks.
Pure evil!
Don’t know why people like this film. I can see that it is highly influential but I found it a bore from start to finish.
Then GF2 was even more boring.
Curious because I loved Carlito’s Way.....

It's the subtleness of it, nothing OTT but fear from voice and the way actors threaten not with guns but with eyes and dialogues.
One of the best sequels as well, showing the road taken by son and father differences, son trying to be as Sicilian as he can ,and the father who was a Sicilian not from outside..
I feel you having Irish descent had a bias against Italians, not accusing you but just imo.

I was going to suggest perhaps desis relate more to the Godfather with the family theme and cross cultural setting, but that can't be true, the Godfather is universally acclaimed so probably just individual preference for those who don't get it.
This was EPIC
What makes you think the Irish are biased against Italians? Sounds like an American-Irish vs American-Italian issue to me.
I am pretty high on the autism spectrum so perhaps some of the subtlety you mention is lost on me. I watched GF2 but had to do it in 45-minute bursts before going off to do something interesting in between. It felt like watching a lecture delivered by a lecturer with no presentation skills. A full three hours of nothing of the slightest interest.
I gave this some more thought.
I am told that when people communicate you can garner information from things they don't say as well as what they do say. I would not know. I only garner information from things people do say.
An example is that scene where Michael Corleone is with the other gangster and the policeman in the restaurant. They speak Italian for two minutes - I don't speak Italian so I'm bored. Then when Michael gets the pistol, the camera looks at him for ages. People tell me he is thinking about what to do. Whereas I see wasted footage which slows the narrative down and reduces the level of tension.

I understand your point I suppose, will keep in mind. But if you feel the scene is long then how will one appreciate the beauty of so many movies, or is it just silent scenes that you dislike?
To give you an example there are many brilliant scenes from Tarantino's movies which might feel like wasted footage?
"Tere Naam" movie scene when Salman Khan was crying in front of Nirjarah(The Heroine) asking her to leave..
Not from movie but from a show.
Remember breaking bad? Well watch the ending of its second last episode.
One of the best episode endings i have ever scene.
Walter has given up, his kid hates him, he cant get his money to him, and thus he accepts that he has lost. He calls the police and then waits.
As he waits he watches gretchen and elliot appear on tv and talk about their company and all. That company which walter believes he laid the grass roots for, but felt betrayed as he couldnt enjoy the power and success as his colleagues were enjoying
Then the sound track starts to play, as the sound track is playing you see gretchen talk about walter they once knew. .
The song keeps on playing and then gretchen says that she doesnt recognize the now walter white, because the walter she remember is dead. And then this expression comes on walters face. You realize this is not walter, this is heisenberg.Suddenly the sound track sounds familar and you realize that its the shows theme song that they play before the show starts but never at the ending.
For the first time ever, the fulll sound track is played.
You could now see clearly see heisenberg has taken over and we all know that when heisenberg takes over then he always have an idea.
The song continues to be played and the cops move in. As they slow enter the bar, heisenberg is vanishes. And the song plays out, indicating that show has not ended, but the finale has started.

He may or may not have ripped off that scene but he certainly took plenty of inspiration from Tucos character. Shades of Tuco appeared in many Amitabh performances.Enlighten us how Amitabh ripped that scene, just don’t put a comment here but tell us how is it similar except that its in front of mirror.
Also it is Taxi driver

Not saying it’s a bad thing just pointing it out.
No I’m talking about Tuco Benedicto Pacífico Juan María Ramírez. I thought you knew your movies.Who Tuco? Are you talking about Travis?
Dilip Kumar's Devdas was also an inspiration for Amitabh in Sharabi but tell which one are you talking about specifically? Which scene, coz it was a totally different character..
I can prove Amitabh taking inspiration from Dilip Kumar with scenes of both actors , asking the same place it here which part of Travis character Amitabh took inspiration from.

Anyway I’ve supplied with more than enough for Google to help you.
Is that the best you can do?You said Tucos character, made me think of Breakingbad but got it and againt dont think so
Is that the best you can do?
I’m confused, you point blank rejected my opinion and now you claim you have not watched it all. Can’t do better till i watched all, the thing is if Im going to be watching to look for similarities then i’m gonna find em

Watched what all? The Good, the Bad and the Ugly or Big B movies where he took inspiration from Tuco.
So you aren’t in any position to verify or contradict. In that case reply back when you have seen a few more of the Big B’s greatest movies.Seeing all Amitabh's movies for similarities, I don’t think there were similarities in Amar Akbar Anthony , but again I have to see all of Amitabh’s but since you feel Amitabh has copied and you just want me to google and try harder I’m not sure what to say maybe I missed and all I can say is I don’t think so..

Let me make it easier -
Amitabhs greatest movies imo
Deewar, Trishul
The last Lear, Piku, Pink
Mili,Don,Namak Halal
Kabhi Kabhi, Milaap,Dev
Mukaddar Ka Sikandar
Now which performance of em you feel was inspired?
What about Sholay? It was that great we even have a poster on here named after one of the characters.
I liked Gabbar and Thakur more in that..other movies I feel Amitabh Shined..
Sholay ,Anand and Shakti he got outshined..

There are too many to mention, Tucos character was multi faceted and Big B took inspiration in many portrayals - not the full on Tuco character but parts of it.Still you haven’t said which ones , so weird you don’t pinpoint you just say he is inspired.
Im telling you I can pinpoint where he has taken inspiration from Dilip Kumar rather than a generic statement..

Okay, thought you meant any significant Amitabh movie and not where he shined the most. What about Shahenshah, do you not think he shined in that one?

For example, Tucos scene where he talks to Christ imploring him to save the life of Blondie is reminiscent of Big B in Deewar and Suhaag (I think). Big B’s loveable rogue character in many films, Shaan, Do aur do paanch to name two are straight out of Tucos characterisation in the Good, Bad & Ugly.
Dewaar was my favourite even though I was not born at that time but my father use to bought dvd and we(family) watched it on tv.
One of my favourite dialogues in Deewar.
Funnily enough I rewatched Good, Bad & Ugly when the “resemblance” struck me.I’m going to rewatch those ,that could be positive inspirations as you said its not bad thing but irrespective let me look at it with that pov.

Not a fan of that movie it was good in patches at best, plus who else will shine in that movie no one is there except him..
His two movies with Rajesh Khanna , in both he was competing at best, it could be because it was his early years, he then faced Dilip Kumar where he was always going to be second fiddle in Shakti..
In last 20 years it has only been Irfan who has come close to him in Piku, he obviously has a different range now.. but i think Rajkumar Rao ‘can’ try outshine him if they ever work together.
It's Namak Haraam where the rising of Amitabh Bacchan started and downfall of Rajesh Khanna.
Yeah but thats also Rajesh Khanna’s fault , he didn’t improve, even in Avtaar his acting is same as Amar Prem..
This is why Dilip Kumar and Amitabh are legends ..
Dilip Kumar’s vengeance roles in 80s set him apart from the more philosophical ,Lover, Socialist ones earlier on.
Rishi Kapoor has had a good second half than first.
Dharmendra outshined Amitabh In chupke chupke (Coz of the role) but never again sadly..
Vinod Khanna could always compete with Amitabh except Mukkadar ka Sikander (coz role) and somehow just decided to leave the industry open during his peak for Osho.

How much truth was there in the stories about AB dictating who should be cast alongside him? To see Shatrughan Sinha in Shaan and Naseeb, Shashi Kapoor in Suhaag etc made me wonder if there was something in it.
Aamir could have done that unfortunately that movie(Thugs of Hindustan) was ****.
