Secular Extremism

There are plenty of atheists in Pakistan, many of them are very successful writers and journalists and they write very anti-mullah pieces which are published nationally. True they might not be able to openly declare it, but they get their point across very effectively. Not ideal from an activist atheist point of view I agree, but Hell? For an avowedly Islamic republic it's pretty easy going I would say. So you are a liar. Sorry but that's a fact.

May Allah protect their Body Guards Aameen.

Given the Unislamic belief (my view) regarding Apostasy and Islam the majority public believes how do you think they treat Aethiests when majority of them are former Muslims ?

Since there is no blood test to recognise an Aethiest thanks God hence People are safe. But majority have to hide it otherwise there life is under threat.

People have to lie aswell as Act in order to safeguard their Life.

I know Atheists in Pakistan, but none of them (that I know) are publicly Atheists and still live in that Country, because that is not acceptable in the society. Can you name any?? - If you cannot publicly declare than what's the point

The point being made was that being atheist in Pakistan was Hell on earth. Sorry but not being able to publicly declare yourself an atheist might not be ideal from an intellectual point of view, but describing it as Hell is being a touch dramatic. In a country where people are murdered, starve or are robbed of their possessions and have no recourse to justice, not being able to publicly declare yourself an atheist isn't exactly a massive hardship.

You have just brushed off all Muslim baggage (history, culture, Good, Bad and Uglu) and have now become a European ;-)

As far as past monuments, literature and Art (as long as its not promoting hate and racism), I am all for keeping it. We don't need to wipe out all history of religion, although your own religious founder (Mohammad) did exactly opposite, we get rid of all symbols and Idols of past religions deliberately and forcefully. Where ever Muslims went they did the same, tried to get rid of Older religious Art and History. Since you are European now, we don't need to bring Muslim History now.

But building new ones on public land, using public funding is something I would resist too. Some of these matters are local community issues where as others are more broader, like raising Confederate Flag or Flags with Swastika symbols is not about preserving history, its about spreading hate and racism.

Again, thanks for the essay, but not really sure where you disagree with me. Most of it seems to be in line with what I have said so looks like we are singing from the same hymn sheet (as long as it's not in France where hymn sheets may soon be banned).

Imagine, you declare that you are Muslims publicly and people go after killing you, not just resentment, would you call that place livable?? - Any nut case can come in and harm you or your family. Somebody from your social circle could kill you. This is just not a theoretical exercise, we have seen Christian communities burn in the heart of Lahore(of all places) under the name of Blasphemy, 14 year old girl was almost executed for Blasphemy. Forget about changing the law, you cannot even talk about changing it. How that is not worse as hell??

Stop comparing being a declared atheist to being a persecuted Christian. You have the choice to keep your atheism private, if you want to declare it publicly in a country like Pakistan then that's your choice and one you are free to make.

Christians don't get persecuted for being Christians, they get allegedly stitched up under the Blasphemy law which is an abuse of the system. Why don't you ask the family of the Christians who got burned in Lahore whether your Hell compares to theirs?

Some of the measures taken in France have indeed been mind boggling that borders on secular extremism or whatever the name for it. However it's pretty entertaining to see the people, who have no qualms about the many extremist laws that exist in religious countries, cry about secular extremism when it happens in the west. So that's one positive I guess.

What I find even funnier is when some people who claim to come from a secular culture vote a party to power based on re-establishing their ancient religio-nationalism which is tied to their country and are busy banning beef acccording to those ancient religious edicts. :91:
