Firing is taking place at the Pearl Continental (PC) Hotel in Gwadar after three to four armed militants stormed the facility, according to Gwadar Station House Officer (SHO) Aslam Bangulzai.

"At around 4:50pm we got reports that there are three to four armed men in PC Hotel," the SHO said, adding that "the firing is ongoing but there are no reports of any casualties yet".

The police official further said that "there are no foreigners at the hotel right now."

SHO Bangulzai said that "additional police force, ATF (Anti-terrorism force) and army are all present" at the hotel to handle the situation.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohsin Hassan Butt also confirmed that "two to three gunmen had first fired at and then entered the hotel."

The IGP said "95 per cent of the hotel has been evacuated", adding that "there seems to be only hotel staff inside."

Frontier Corps personnel have cordoned off the hotel and no one is allowed to go near the area, DawnNewsTV reported citing police sources.

The Pearl Continental (PC) Hotel in Gwadar, is located on the Koh-e-Batil Hill, south of West Bay on Fish Harbour Road. The five-star hotel is frequented by both business and leisure travellers.

The attack comes just weeks after 14 people, including 11 personnel of Navy, Air Force and Coast Guards, were killed by gunmen near Ormara in Gwadar.

China is currently working with the federal government to develop Gwadar port to facilitate connectivity and trade. Beijing is investing around $50 billion in Pakistan as part of a plan unveiled in 2015 to link its far-western Xinjiang region to Gwadar port in Balochistan with a series of infrastructure, power and transport upgrades.

Indian proxies have been in full flow since the last month or so.

Indian proxies have been in full flow since the last month or so.

They got a bloody nose and now want revenge. However, our security forces need to up the game. Better intelligence is needed to catch these people.

Once again our security and intelligence failures have led to the shedding of innocent blood in Balochistan.

Pakistan attack: Gunmen storm five-star hotel in Balochistan

Several gunmen have stormed a five-star hotel in the restive Pakistani province of Balochistan, officials say.

Firing continues at the Pearl Continental Hotel in the port city of Gwadar, the focal point of a multi-billion-dollar Chinese project.

Most guests at the hotel, popular among foreign tourists and business people, have been evacuated, officials say. One security guard has been killed.

The separatist Balochistan Liberation Army said it was behind the attack.

The militant group said it had targeted Chinese and other foreign investors.

At least three armed men stormed the hotel at around 16:50 local time (11:50 GMT).

It is unclear how many people were inside the hotel but officials said the majority of guests had been evacuated.

Balochistan, home to a long-running insurgency, is Pakistan's poorest and least developed province.

Several militant groups operate in Balochistan, including the Pakistani Taliban, the Balochistan Liberation Army and the Sunni Muslim extremist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

The militant groups oppose Chinese investment, saying it is of little benefit to local people, the BBC's Jill McGivering reports.

BLA just released the photo of attackers now look at them and ask yourself from where these guys are getting training and funding? Not all missing persons endup in Army custody.

Playing a very stupid card you are here. Innocent blood loss is not only a problem of Balochistan, its a problem of whole Pakistan. But offcourse you only care about Balochistan. Just FYI, attackers are from Balochistan who went missing some months back and people like you were claiming that these persons were abducted by Pak Army.
Shame.

So no condemnation of the foreign funded criminals, just blaming the army. You are a born loser.

Why respond to someone when shown the mirror run away from the discussion?

A perfect example of a troll who does not have the capability to discuss topic but rather make generalized statement.

This Loralai poster supports the BLA.

Pakistan need to fight fire with fire, go into Afghanistan and start bombing their hideouts and also use proxy to enter India and attack their security, maybe then they will learn.

Balochistan was peaceful for a while till the recent India Pakistan aerial skirmishes after which the region is suddenly under constant attacks again. First the attacks against Shias , then killing the personnel on Bus and now this bombing.

No matter if India is behind these proxy attacks but still the intelligence agencies should be able to outsmart them.

This is a very sad incident.

Besides the usual call for retaliation and increasing the use of violence we should also focus on healing the wounds of those natives who were unjustly effected by the conflict.

We need to openly support militants in IOK and other Indian insurgency hot area's. No doubt India is behind this after they were humiliated by the Pak army in the recent scuffle.

BLA do not represent views of mainstream Baloch people and both provincial and national government must take serious steps against these groups. Bizarre to see people accusing me of supporting a terrorist group just because they disliked my comment about ineptitude of our security forces.

First (and most basic step) in resolving this situation in Balochistan would be apology of killing of Akbar Bugti by the Pakistan Army and return of missing persons.

Gawadar is one of the most militarised places in Pakistan. There is security everywhere around major infrastructure projects and it should be particularly tight around a hotel where foreigners are staying. Therefore questions should be asked as to how this was able to happen.

As if you guys are not doing that already. There is a reason Pakistan is called the epicenter of global terrorism.

few months ago, they were the missing persons, but now they gt weapons and training, look at thier military gear, from where they gt it ?

Do you have any proof that the terrorists involved in this attack were ever missing persons? I haven't seen any concrete evidence saying this is the case.

How would this resolve anything?

Why on earth are 'journalists' posting (alleged) information about an operation while it's happening?

You didn’t ask question, you made an accusation.

Not a single intelligence agency is and was ever 100% effective

Not sure why Pakistan doesn't launch a couple of stand off weapons on the NDS Headquarter in Kabul and deal with these snakes once and for all.

The Yanks and Indians will start crying in the UN protecting their proxies.

Good news.

It was kinda like Mumbai attack but thank GOD not much damage.

IF these reports are true and they are not just false alarms based on similar looking names thn it's really embarrassing for the "establishment ki saazish brigade". A moment of silence for mom bati waale uncles and aunties. Now they need to find another conspiracy theory for face saving.

The Asad Baloch guy looks different from old pics so i guess it's only the similar names. Nevertheless even in the past missing persons were found being part of TTP and other banned outfits and i guess Army didn't force them to join these orgs.

I am really interested to know from where they got the military gear, training and funding? Of Course the apologists will tell you there was no foreign funding and even if there was any foreign funding it doesn't matter for them...

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday described yesterday's attack targeting the Gwadar Pearl Continental Hotel as a bid to "sabotage prosperity" in the area, as police confirmed all the attackers had been killed.

The outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army had claimed responsibility for the attack in which at least three people were killed and four others injured by a handful of gunmen who stormed the luxury hotel in Gwadar, the centrepiece of the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Prime Minister Imran in a statement issued by PM Office today said that "such attempts, especially in Balochistan, are an effort to sabotage our economic projects and prosperity. We shall not allow these agendas to succeed".

The Chinese embassy in Islamabad also strongly condemned the incident.

'The next Dubai'
The Pearl Continental, part of Pakistan's largest five-star hotel chain, is the only luxury hotel in Gwadar, frequented by foreign and Pakistani business delegations as well as diplomats.

It sits isolated on a ridge overlooking the Arabian Sea port city that was formerly a small fishing village, but is now touted by officials as "the next Dubai" thanks to CPEC.

Part of China's Belt and Road initiative, CPEC seeks to connect the western Chinese province of Xinjiang with Gwadar, with the development of the port there as a flagship project.

Gwadar will provide China with safer and more direct access to the oil-rich Middle East than the waterway trade route it currently uses through the narrow Malacca Straits.

CPEC has drawn the ire of separatists who complain that Balochistan does not receive its due share of resources from the Centre.

The BLA has targeted Chinese workers in Pakistan multiple times, including during a brazen daylight attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi which killed four people in November last year. At the time, the BLA had branded Beijing "an oppressor".

The attack was the second deadly attack in a prominent city this week, after a suicide blast claimed by a lesser-known faction of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan at the Data Darbar shrine in Lahore, in which 12 individuals lost their lives.

QUETTA: At least four police personnel were martyred and 12 others, including some policemen, wounded in a blast near a mosque in the Satellite Town area of the provincial capital on Monday night.

The blast took place shortly after a police van arrived at the site to provide security to the people offering taraveeh prayers at the mosque, officials said.

This was the second major terrorist attack in Balochistan within the last three days, as previously a luxury hotel in Gwadar came under attack.

“The police vehicle carrying personnel for mosque security was targeted in the blast in which our four personnel of Rapid Response Group (RRG) lost their lives, while the condition of another was stated to be serious,” said Quetta DIG Razzaq Cheema while speaking to Dawn.

Four policemen martyred in Quetta bomb blast; Taliban claim responsibility

The officer said an improvised explosive device planted in a motorcycle went off close to the police van. Sources said unidentified people parked the explosive-laden motorbike near the mosque in Satellite Town area and detonated it by remote control when the police van arrived there.

As a result, one police constable died on the spot while 15 others, including seven police personnel, were wounded.

Police, Frontier Corps personnel and rescue workers rushed to the site and shifted the body and the wounded victims to the Civil Hospital Quetta.

“Three police officials among the injured died soon after being brought here at the hospital,” officials at the healthcare facility said. They added other wounded were admitted to the hospital. “The condition of another policeman is serious, as he sustained multiple wounds,” said a senior official.

Many vehicles parked in the area were damaged and windowpanes of nearby buildings were shattered due to the impact of the powerful blast though the mosque remained safe in the attack.

Four RRG men who lost their lives in the blast were identified as Mohammad Ishaq, Ghulam Nabi, Mushtaq Shah and Zulfiqar Ali.

Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the elements involved in the blast.

The Balochistan chief minister strongly condemned the blasts and said they could not demoralise the government and security forces. He vowed that the government and security forces would continue action against terrorists and their facilitators.

He directed law enforcement agencies to take all-out measures against terrorists and bring them to justice. He expressed sympathies with families of the martyred police personnel and said their sacrifices would always be remembered.

The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the motorcycle bomb blast targeting the police vehicle.
