Shoaib Malik speaking on TV:

"My father was the one who had a lot of interest in cricket and encouraged me to get into it."

"Being a senior cricketer, there's extra burden on you. There are expectations to perform plus responsibility regarding the dressing room atmosphere. We are entrusted with communicating with the board and selectors. We need to share our experiences with others."

"Some people don't think about the other contributions of a senior cricketer, they just look at their performances on the field."

"Seniors shouldn't put themselves in front and shun others to the back. These type of seniors shouldn't be a part of any organisation. They shouldn't disadvantage others for their own gain. They should give others favours and help others and God will keep them on top."

"My father instilled the mentality in me to work hard no matter what."

"During 2015 WC, I was commentating for Star Sports. They offered me a contract and at times during that period, I felt that my career is at an end. But I didn't stop training during those two months I was in India."

"After returning from India, my performances in leagues and tournaments were good and my name came in contention for selection. My physical fitness helped me immensely in this period as I wasn't lagging behind others."

Hafeez never got this memo...

He's improved massively since his come back after the 2015 WC. He didn't have a great CT but you can't look too much into that because against India, he was run out, not a batting problem, he was not out and going well against South Africa before rain put an end to the game, failed against Sri Lanka, didn't bat against England, in the Final against India he wasn't great either but got out looking for runs which is what the situation of the match required. Also, still one of our fittest players at his age and a brilliant fielder. His bowling is under utilised

Keeping all expectation to a bare minimum and realistically speaking Malik, Hafeez and Azhar (All three will play the WC19) so we can't do anything in that regard. Sarfaraz is the captain so that's that, Babar, Amir and Hassan make the cut without any questions asked. That's 7 slots locked in.

Which leaves us with

1 Opener
1 Middle Order Bat /All rounder (depending on conditions and form)
1 Al Genuine All Rounder (Lower Order)
1 Bowler (Fast/Spin depending on conditions)

People who are competing for these slots (Fakhar, Imad, Shadab, Faheem, Junaid, Hussain Talat, Shehzad, Umer Akmal (regrettably), Yasir Shah - based on recent interviews, Wahab Riaz , The Destroyer :rahat and A few others)

I sincerely hope Raza Hassan, Zafar Gohar and someone for the middle order batting emerge in these upcoming 18 months.

And a certain person said that Shoaib Malik does more damage to the team than Mohammad Hafeez:01:

His bowling, once touted as a replacement for Saqlain, has lost all bite. Effectively plays as a batsman these days.

players will play because of their performances. Many credible journos reported it that during final sarfaraz said to the coach if hafeez didnt perform then he is out of the team.
Although sarfaraz is a big fan of azhar ali.

In my almost 20 years of watching cricket the bold part has never ever happened. It would most certainly will be a first for me !!
